Phenomenal value for the price.

The house is well furnished with plenty of space. From the outside, it was almost deceiving with how much room there was. For the group of ten I came with, we all slept comfortably around the numerous bedrooms and very comfortable couches that were available. We brought a ton of utensils, paper towels, linens, none of which were even needed. This spot came stocked with everything you could possibly need for a getaway on a lake house.

There were two kayaks, two canoes, a pedal boat, and a sunfish, all of which we used to the full potential. The "pond" is no small body of water. Kayaking around the perimeter can take almost 45 minutes; its more like a small lake. Ample life jackets were available so everyone could enjoy themselves safely.

The grill was great and propane was stocked. Almost all our meals were cooked on it. For breakfast, we capitalized on the many cooking pans, pots, etc, that were provided.

Finally, I should mention that the fire pit was a big attraction for the group, so having firewood supplied was excellent.

The only downside was that mosquitos and bugs were out in full force. This was something we weren't prepared for but we managed.

Overall, an excellent venue for a weekend getaway. Highly recommended and will likely book again in the future.

Simply magical!

Stayed for two nights with a group of friends over Halloween weekend, and we all could not be more pleased! The house itself is in the most beautiful, private spot near the end of a dirt road. The leaves were beautiful, the pond was still and peaceful, and despite a rainy and chilly weekend, we made use of the 2 kayaks and the canoe, and had a lovely paddle around the misty pond, with mountains peaking through the fog as we rowed!

The house itself is much larger than it even appears on the outside, with plenty of comfortable spaces for even our large group. The kitchen floor, with the den, the woodstove, the long dining table overlooking the porch (with a propane heater, which we didn't utilize, but wish we could have!) was the perfect area for board games, tarot reading and collaborative cooking. The kitchen is truly a cook's kitchen, and had almost everything we needed for two solid days of cooking (except a ladle? It seems impossible that there isn't one - we probably just couldn't locate it, because Carl has literally every other possible culinary tool you could want). The whole house is clean, modern, extremely comfortable, and has a warm, lived-in energy that made everyone feel relaxed and at ease the entire weekend. Also, there is foozeball AND ping pong.

We can't wait to come back, on a hopefully less rainy weekend, as the outside spaces were fantastic as well! There's a sitting area near the pond with a chiminaria and benches and a picnic table. And there's also a large fire pit area next to the dock, which was the perfect spot for a Halloween bonfire!

And...there's a smoker! We didn't utilize this either, but look forward to hopefully coming back soon!

Overall, I could not more highly recommend this house, and the owner, who was prompt and clear in his communications, and whose ownership has left the Pond House with a really quite wonderful vibe! It was everything we could've asked for, and we can't wait to come back!

Thank you, Carl!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the thoughtful review. We take great pleasure in hearing from people who love the Pondhouse as much as we do. I wonder what happened to the ladle??

Cozy and quiet lake house

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in this house, secluded on a small lake in Sandwich, NH. Despite a rainy weekend, the views were spectacular out of several windows on each floor. The house was spacious and accommodating, and there was plenty of parking for multiple families staying at this property. Carl was also very receptive and quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had. We all had a great weekend and highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet getaway on the water.

Kayaking with Loons on a beautiful pond

  • 5 of 5

Our bike group enjoyed a wonderful Labor Day weekend which included seven adults. The house was very well

furnished and very comfortable. The isolated setting was lovely and offered sightings of wildlife like loons and beavers. It was a very relaxing place to be after our busy activities like kayaking, canoeing, bike riding and hiking.

We would be happy returning to the house and the location.

Lovely getaway !!

A group of friends and I-total of 7 adults- spent a long weekend here. The house was perfect for us-well stocked kitchen, plenty of bedrooms for couples and singles. We particularly enjoyed the 2 kayaks and 2 canoes which afforded us the opportunity to explore the lake. The inside dining area with large table and chairs accommodated all of us and gave us a spectacular view of the lake. We spotted beavers and loons. Close by is Castle in the Clouds which is an interesting attraction both from standpoint of history and also for hiking enthusiasts. Definitely will recommend to friends and family.

My husband and I spent a week here with a group of friends, 10 of us in total. The house fit us all perfectly, plenty of beds and space for all. We love to cook and were astounded at how well-equipped the kitchen is. Among many, many other things there's a blender and the biggest cast iron frying pan I've ever seen in my life. Outside is lovely - two hammocks, lots of chairs, a picnic table - it was a perfect setting for relaxing by the pond with friends, or playing games - we loved the giant JENGA! It was nice that there is both a shady area and sunny area. The boats were well used, too - we took the kayaks out every day, and the canoes and paddle boat at least three times each. It's very easy to get them in and out of the water at the little beach. The pond is rather small and shallow, so it wasn't the best for long swims, but be sure to paddle across the pond to the big rock where the water is deeper and you can jump in and swim around. Since the pond is so shallow there weren't any motor boats so it was extremely peaceful and quiet and the wildlife was impressive. We saw herons, bald eagles, osprey, beavers, and of course loons. Other perks we enjoyed included picking fresh mint from the garden, lounging on the floating dock, grilling dinners, having movie nights in the upstairs den, making s'mores at the fire, and drinking coffee every morning on the porch. I suppose my only suggestion for future renters is that you might want to bring floats and tubes for bobbing in the water. Highly recommend this place and hope to return next year!
