We've lived in Estes Park for 20 years and love it! We've both worked on behalf of Rocky Mountain National Park and believe it to be a very special place.
Dean purchased this house in 2004
Estes Park is a great vacation destination - for the stunning scenery and hiking found in Rocky Mountain National Park, as well as for the unique experience of the town of Estes Park, where families enjoy the unique shops, restaurants and area attractions.
Views, Views and then some more Continental Divide Views. This Home is unique even to Estes Park with its location on a ridge half way up Prospect Mountain. Elk, deer, bobcat, coyote and bear frequent the area. Enjoy all of this while relaxing in the hot tub on the private deck. At the Overlook House, you are minutes away from Rocky Mountain National Park, as well as the town of Estes Park.
The house was set up perfectly for us and our 6 year old. Every window had an amazing view. Dean made sure everything was to our satisfaction and checked in with us to make sure we were content. You are encompassed by beautiful mountains in a house with all of the amenities. Thank you for a memorable stay and we will be renting Overlook house again and again. We love Estes Park and this house is minutes from town but gives you the feel like you are a million miles away. Absolute perfection. I miss it already.
We spent Thanksgiving here and loved the location. The views were beautiful with and without the snow. The hot tub was a hit with all of us as it was clean and the views while relaxing were very peaceful. We had plenty of room for everyone, with beds for all. We cooked our Thanksgiving meal with plenty of pots, dishes, oven space and room in the refrigerator for all the leftovers. We enjoyed the family room with the fireplace, gorgeous views and a place to sit at the table to play games. Close enough to drive to Estes and to hike in the RMNP. We snowshoed right in the neighborhood and nearby. Definitely would recommend this place. Thank you Dean.
This was our first time to use VRBO, and to visit the Estes Park area. I reviewed more than 100 homes before choosing Overlook. Everything, EVERYTHING was perfect about our visit - the house was absolutely perfect, from its location, it's cleanliness, and it's amenities. We were close to everything yet privately located. We so enjoyed visiting Estes Park and the Rocky Mountains - our favorite hikes were to Emerald, Dream and Bear Lakes. Overlook House was the PERFECT location to come home to each evening. The views were unmatchable, and we sat in the hottub each evening looking out over the Rockies. The view that Overlook House provided was better than any I could've hoped for, and The owners prepared the home to perfection. I love to cook, and there's a wonderful kitchen, in addition to the great bedrooms and huge spacious living room. We also built a fire each evening to take off the chill of the hikes! Not only do we want to return... We want to return SOON, and are planning our next trip to Overlook now! I cannot even imagine staying anywhere else, and we now call this "our" Overlook House.
Everything about our experience was 5 stars - and Dean was amazingly responsive to us both before our stay when I had questions, and during our stay to make sure we were ok and to service the hottub.
110% the best place to be - the most incredible views and home away from home!!! We genuinely loved Overlook House as our own!'
The views of the Continental Divide from this home are spectacular, much like a trip up Trail Ridge Road.
The home itself was very nice and clean. The bedrooms and bathrooms are situated throughout the home to give everyone a little space and privacy. We cooked our own meals and ate in the dining room, then relaxed in the spacious living room or out on the deck in the hot tub....all overlooking the mountains and Estes Park.
The owner provide good directions to the property, was helpful, accomodating, and easy to work with.
We chose this house to have enough space for our sons to have their own rooms. It's unquestionably deluxe accommodations, tastefully decorated, spacious, and comfortable. There are plenty of dishes and pots and pans, as well as appliances. There's even a basket of towels by the door to the hot tub deck. I was worried about the gravel road, but any car can make it up to the house without a problem. Dean called after a few days to be sure everything was OK (it was), and he stopped by to service the hot tub about halfway through the week. Beauty, comfort, and convenience...
Our family of five stayed in the Overlook House and we were impressed with the views from the deck, the large and comfortable rooms/beds, and the short distances to trail heads, parking within RMNP. The drive up to the house was an adventure in our rented Chevy Suburban, but nothing compared to driving on the Trail Ridge Road in RMNP. We called Dave twice, once for directions since the GPS sent us down a flood damaged road that was closed, once for the door combination because we locked ourselves out. Dave was friendly and helpful with resolving both issues. Agree with not bringing too much in the way of clothing, the washer/dryer in the house make it easier to wash/reuse then to pack too much. Advice to any flat-landers like us...make sure you drink plenty of water and take it easy until you get used to the altitude..the bedrooms are at an elevation of about 8000 feet!
