This house is gorgeous, inside and out! The view of the lake from the big window was spectacular. Our family really enjoyed this trip. We had 6 people in our group and everyone was comfortable.

Christmas Stay

  • 5 of 5

My family gathered here at Wolf Bay as it was near to some grandparents and we all wanted to be close together during the holiday. It was wonderful. The house is well equipped and the owner answered our questions promptly. He even had a little Christmas tree set up for us upon arrival! And even though snow was not forecasted, he managed to get a white Christmas for us. ;)

The view over the snowy lake with the wood fire crackling could not have been more perfect.

We did have a crawling infant with us, which, if we had thought ahead, we would have had a couple of child proof gates for the stairways but other than that, it was lovely.

It's a 10-15 minute drive to the closest small town/restaurants so one would either need a car or plan ahead with enough groceries to cook in during the stay. (kitchen was well equipped) Boulder Junction had some good places to eat and some adorable little shops to pursue.

Beautiful Lake House on Lovely High Lake

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently spent a wonderful week at Wolf Bay. The home is charming, very clean, and well-equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to other couples and families. It is in a beautiful, secluded location, and yet convenient to Boulder Junction for dining, shopping, and other activities. During our stay, we watched otters, eagles, herons, and other wildlife from the house and yard. The fall color was a bit late this year, but we enjoyed viewing the subtle changes around the lake each day.

The owner answered all of our questions promptly and thoroughly. He also had many great suggestions for activities in the area which helped to plan our trip. We took a day trip to Bayfield to visit the Apostle Islands, drove several of the nearby Rustic Roads, and visited Bond Falls, Agate Falls, and Lake of the Clouds in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Wolf Bay was simply one of the best homes we have rented, and the location was fantastic for sight-seeing and enjoying the natural beauty of the area.

Best of the Best....Can't Go Wrong!

  • 5 of 5

Being Wisconsin natives, looking to head back to the northwoods, for our summer vacation, we had a few items on our wish list…a place on a lake, good fishing lake but also a great for watersports, modern amenities (including Wi-Fi), and a dock. Wolf Bay did NOT disappoint. From the moment I began interacting with the owner to answer question, he was extremely responsive and patient as I vetted out the property.

We elected to get the main house and the guesthouse. From the moment of our arrival we were beyond happy. The main house is beautiful and the views are breathtaking. This is a truly a 5-star property that is just steps from the lake. Our kids (12 – 18) enjoyed the freedom of the guesthouse and the amenities of the main house. When they were not outside, they enjoyed the tv/game room in the lower/lake level. The owners have thought of everything including supplying kayaks, canoes, a fishing boat and life jackets. There is a wide selection of games available for those rainy days.

The owners have thought of every detail to make the stay enjoyable. The kitchen is stocked with tasteful dishes and glass wear and the most well seasoned cast iron skillet I’ve ever seen – clearly a fish fry must! Gas and charcoal grills made grilling dinner lakeside and easy chore to handle.

The kids had a ball fishing for pan fish from the dock – there was no time to get board as they were abundant. Off the boat, there were pan fish, walleye and bass. There is nothing better to get kids excited about fishing than catching A LOT! The lake is beautiful, clear to the weeds, a very healthy lake. There is a large culvert between High Lake and Fish Trap Lake that we were able to navigate our Crestliner through. There is a good mix of serious fisherman and those on the lake for a more calm recreational fishing experience. There were also a number of water skiers, tubers and jet skis out and about. However, in no way did it feel like there were too many of anything. It was still very easy to kayak and canoe through the bays and shoreline while viewing the eagles and loons nearby.

The town of Boulder Junction is a treasure in itself. There is a small grocery store (Coontail Market) that had all of the essentials and last minute items. From the folks at the hardware store, bait shop, souvenir shop and even the transfer station all were kind and welcoming.

Thank you for an amazing experience. We'll be back!!
