Why Deborah Van Dyken chose Coastal North Carolina

We bought this investment property because it is in a great location and right around the corner from where we live.

What makes this cottage unique

When you stay at Shell Cottage, you can walk just two blocks to great restaurants, shops, the Beaufort waterfront, museums, ferry boats, and the post office. Also, Shell Cottage is in the Beaufort historic district, and it is fun to walk by these beautifully restored houses dating back to the early 1700's.

Beaufort is also on the Intercoastal Waterway and is a popular stopover for many wonderful boats of all descriptions. Walking down the Beaufort boardwalk, getting an ice cream cone at the nearby General Store, and looking at the numerous boats moored at the Beaufort docks is something everyone will enjoy.

Beaufort's Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

The Shell Cottage is by far the nicest place we have stayed in while visiting the Atlantic Beach area. We usually stay in one of the inns in AB, but the Shell Cottage is now our home away from home. When you research vacation rentals on the Internet, photos can be deceiving. Not so at the Shell Cottage.

The photos do not do justice. The Shell was immaculate, very comfortable, and homey. Basically all you need to bring is your toothbrush and food. Deborah went way out of her way to make us feel welcome. She especially made our dog Sissy feel welcome. That is so important to us, since we take her everywhere we go. I cannot say enough about Deborah, and the Shell.

If you want a wonderful place to stay that is two blocks from the waterfront, call Deborah. The cottages are right in the middle of historic Beaufort. We walked everywhere. The old burying grounds are about a block away, a must walk through every time we visit. We walked to Front Street, had breakfast and dinner over the waterfront, took the ferry over to Shackleford Banks, and Cape Lookout.

When we did take the car, we drove over to Fort Macon for a day at the beach, and did some shopping at Atlantic Beach. I want to thank Deborah for an amazing time. We plan on coming back in November to stay at the Shell, and take a Thanksgiving cruise on the Crystal Coast Lady. Once again, thank you Deborah. See you soon.

Cute lovely cottage with everything you could need!

  • 5 of 5

What a perfect place to stay for my family of three (a toddler) - This cottage was centrally located, had lovely amenities, and everything was organized and laid out for us so we had no problems or questions. Our host took the time to address any information we may need, from wifi codes to fishing charter options, menus to local restaurants as well as local maps for Beaufort. The bikes were a great addition! Thanks for such a great stay! Will definitely recommend this to our friends.
