Guestbook comments from the owner

Our stay at this piece of New England heaven far surpassed our wildest dreams. The home is spacious and spectacular. There were so many options for sleeping arrangements for an almost-exclusively adult crowd; not the bunkroom arrangement offered by so many other rental properties in ski country. The kitchen was an amazing place to cook, eat, hang out, play cards and games and spend time as a family. The view was too amazing to describe and no pictures I've seen do it justice. The driveway, which was completely covered in several feet of new snow when we first arrived, went from hazard to adventure as the week went by. In the end, the four-wheel drive trips up and down the mountain proved to be one of the most-memorable aspects of the trip. We all said at the end that we didn't want to leave and that it was the "best vacation ever!" Thank you, Susan, for sharing your "dream home" with us for our "dream family vacation!"

The Perfect New Hampshire Mountaintop Paradise

  • 5 of 5

The Perfect New Hampshire Stone and TImber Mountaintop Paradise.

There simply aren’t enough superlatives to describe this place. But here are some of the amazing features:

*The view is nothing short of fantastic: over several days of hiking in the White Mountains (including Zeacliff, Mt. Flume, Mt. Liberty) arguably the best view we enjoyed the entire time was the sunrise from the natural stone patio of this house.

*This custom built house is spacious and wisely designed: It’s a stone and timber mountaintop home that comfortably slept my group of eight adult men - each in their own bed - in the six different bedrooms. *The living areas, including a large living room, kitchen, dining area, entertainment room with pool table, not to again mention the amazing outdoor patio area, perfectly provided our large group space for some to relax in peace while others played.

*The house and the grounds are themselves works of art: the house is stone and log, with many of the doors, furniture, stairs, railings, etc. custom hand-made by the owners in clever, creative, and beautiful fashion, while the owner-made door coverings and tapestries decorate the place. The grounds include a stunning sprawling impossibly lush and full garden, while the drive up the hill takes you through a small apple orchard. At the same time, the entire property is surrounded by dense woods providing natural beauty and privacy.

*Everything you need is included. None of the basics were lacking: the kitchen was fully stocked with the dishes/appliance, etc. you need. *The patio deck included a table, plenty of chairs, a grill, and a firepit.

It’s not just beautiful, it’s comfortable. The beds, the living room furniture, even the dining room table, were all so comfortable and welcoming. We actually decided to forgo exploring the area to just hang out at the house and enjoy the comforts and beauty it offered.

*The owners couldn’t be nicer, more welcoming, and more helpful. Susan and Doug were generous in many ways, eager to share their local knowledge. It was obvious they genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay. I’ve stayed at private home rentals in more states and countries than I can count, and I’ve never felt so welcome.

Finally, I feel compelled to add that I almost feel guilty for how inexpensive this home was considering how large, beautiful, and comfortably appointed it was. An absolute bargain.

Beautiful home for a family reunion!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Susan and Doug's home. Not only we enjoyed the views, beautiful garden, but could not get over all the furniture and art pieces that they have built, made and collected. They are the sweetest people who have poured their heart into building this home. We walked in to find a lovely flower arrangement with fragrant peonies. Thank you, Susan and Doug, for sharing your dream home with us. Will definitely recommend this place to our extended family and friends!
