This comfortable, well-maintained farmhouse is perfect for 2 couples with 2 children, & a baby, & a set of grandparents; or for 3 couples. Guests who like a rural setting will enjoy a place to sit & drink coffee to watch the sunrise, as well as a sun room with a back deck for watching the sun go down behind the trees. A near-by town landing & ample parking make it easy to trailer your own boat to this property & launch it in a tidal river, with the whole open expanse of WhoHoa Bay beyond, with endless boating possibilities in waters used mainly by lobster boats. Islands galore for picnics. With permission, 5 kayaks are available for use.
Why the Owner Chose Addison: : My mother found this farm 45 years ago, choosing it as a place that would bring our family together. I have spent the past 45 summers here and now live here full-time. My children grew up here. My grandchildren love it. I moved the barn and converted it into an Art Barn, and living quarters. The barn has a separate parking area, separate well and septic system. The two units - the farmhouse which is for rent, and the barn - sit across from each other, separated by a wide lawn. Both look out at the West River and Crowley Island.
The Unique Benefits of this Farmhouse: : Year Purchased: 1969 - Some of the unique benefits of the farm: a quiet environment to write and read and rest, views to draw or paint or photograph, the chance to study of wild flowers and wildlife, including birds found in 50 acres of wood and 20 acres blueberry land fronting on a tidal river. An island right across the tidal river makes for an exciting but relatively safe 2-hour kayak circumnavigation. The farm provides a safe, large tidal-river area for boating -though the current is strong and must be allowed for. There are many places to walk, to paint and sketch. The owner has her own studio in the barn, and encourages writers, artists and craftspeople of all types.
Owner Description/Comments:: Susan Rich Sheridan. I am a 73 year old mother and grandmother, as well as a writer, a painter, a walker, a gardener.
We enjoyed ourselves so much! The peace and rest that our Family has for a few short days was incredible. We picked blue berries, went on a Lobster Boat and then cooked the Lobster, played games, had lots of coffee, cooked meals and baked desserts in the spacious kitchen. Many late night visiting with Family and our Beautiful friend, Susan! It was a small piece of Heaven!

The property is a great example of a farmhouse of a bygone era. It has a mix of antique surroundings with modern amenities. The rural nature of the area makes a terrific getaway from the pressures of modern life, absolute quiet, most cell phones unable to connect! Long walks, exploring villages, antiquing, admiring the rugged Maine coast, fishing, lots to see and discover. The sunroom invites all to relax together after a full day or get caught up on reading. Acadia N.P. is a great day trip.
Overall a great find, a relaxing getaway, will recommend to friends and family!
