Aloha and thank you for considering the Green Turtle Hideaway for your stay on Oahu's North Shore. This recently updated and nicely furnished one bedroom unit is located within the Turtle Bay Resort complex on the beautiful grounds of Kuilima Estates West. Here you can enjoy peace and quiet, usually a lovely breeze from the tropical trade winds, all while being only minutes from the famous North Shore beaches and all the amenities the Resort and the North Shore have to offer.
Our condo is ground level, adjoining the third hole of the Fazio Golf Course. The bedroom features a queen size bed, a separate air conditioning unit and an HDTV. There is ample storage for everything you care to bring with you. The adjacent bath is inviting and is furnished with an up-to-date vanity, toilet, and combination tub/shower with sliding glass doors. The bath is well ventilated with a quiet ceiling exhaust fan. There is a washer/dryer combination unit between the bedroom and bathroom that is adequate for all your laundry needs. There is an abundance of bed and bath items in an adjacent closet, and laundry and toiletry items are furnished.
The kitchen features all modern appliances, and is fully stocked with all the utensils and tableware needed for preparing a snack or full course meal. A dining table with seating for four is adjacent to the kitchen counter and serving area. The living room contains a sofa which easily opens to a queen size bed, with a modern mattress, pillows and linens. The living room is air conditioned or can be opened to the Lanai, which most prefer. There is a 42 inch flat screen HDTV and a DVD player. We have a HP all in one computer, with Windows 7 operating system, and an HP color printer. There is also a wireless router for the high speed Internet available for your laptop and tablet, if you choose. For your morning coffee or your nitecap, the Lanai is just beyond the living room. Patio tables and chair are furnished, and lawn chairs are available for sunning and reading just off the Lanai.
Upon arrival you will be furnished with a fob to provide easy entry into the gated community. You will have a designated parking space just steps from the condo front door. A key box contains the house and pool keys, and the entry fob is located on the front screen door, with an access code you will be provided. Spare keys are inside the condo at the kitchen counter. Both the condo entry and the Lanai have motion detected night lights to ease your entrance after dusk. You will also be provided with keys necessary to enter any of the three pool areas nearby, and the tennis courts.
Once settled in the condo, you can get out and explore the resort grounds. You can walk for miles along the beach without leaving the resort. Sightings of Green Turtles, feeding just offshore or sleeping on the beach are common. Monk Seals sunning on the beach are even more common. Although these sightings are not an everyday occurrence. Riding stables with escorted tours of the oceanfront are just a short walk away across the golf course. All amenities of the Turtle Bay Resort hotel are available to you, including two eighteen hole golf courses. The hotel has inside, beach side and poolside restaurants, shops, bike and moped rentals, helicopter tours, as well as surfing, snorkeling and swimming areas. You should also drive the North Shore Kam highway from near Kaena Point in the West to Waialua on the East Coast and enjoy the beautiful scenery and attractions available along the way.
Enjoy your visit and leave any comments on your stay in the Guest Book in the living room or a review on the Web page as you please. Mahalo and thank you again for considering the Green Turtle Hideaway as your home away for the duration of your stay.
This was the PREFECT get-away for us! Quiet, clean, plenty of space, and nicely furnished with the exact right amenities! Will definitely go again!
We actually stayed in April of 2013. I did not post a review. It was my first time to Hawaii. It was amazing! The condo was great. Everything anyone could possibly need was there, because previous guests would leave items as we did. So this was the most comfortable and affordable way to spend a vacation. We saw so many turtles, visited the PCC, went to many beaches. You could see the whales off the shore. I could say so much. We loved it and have actually reserved the same condo for 14 days this upcoming April. Can't wait to get there. We also will have some company this visit, our brother and sister in law will be staying next door to us for a week from Indianapolis. This will be awesome!
We spent a week in April, 2011 at this property. This condominium is one of many located within the Turtle Beach Resort complex. Included in the rental cost of this condominium were: parking, high speed Internet access, two flat-screen HDTVs, DVD player, new PC and color printer, complete kitchen with modern appliances and plenty of pots, pans, utensils, etc. The condominium included two air conditioners, as well as modern ceiling fans.
The listing description was accurate. Communicating with the manager (via email) was easy. The property was very clean and well-maintained.
Using the Internet connection, we found the website for the North Shore Chamber of Commerce (search: Oahu north shore chamber), which informed us regarding local attractions. On our first full day, we visited a farmers' market in Waialua, where fresh fish, fruit and vegetables were purchased. Visits to the well-stocked Foodland, in nearby Pupukea, provided all other needed groceries.
Almost every day, we visited Laniakea Beach, near Haleiwa, where sea turtles come ashore to sun bathe (search: Oahu turtles laniakea).
A small pool is located just steps from the condominium's front door. The beach can be accessed via a short walk.
The golf course grounds surrounding the condominium complex is home to several roosters and chickens, some with chicks. We enjoyed watching the hens forage with their chicks. Evidently, not all residents find the chickens interesting, however. One afternoon, we were confronted by a woman, presumably a permanent resident, who ranted about "problems with chickens." We wondered, "How many problems can chickens cause?"
Past vacations have included condominium rentals on Maui, Hawaii and in Honolulu. Our visit to the condominium at Turtle Beach Resort was the best experience yet. We recommend this condominium as a clean, comfortable and safe place to spend one's holiday.
Advice: Driving to and from Honolulu, we noticed many speed traps. Police officers often waited near the bottom of long hills, where speed limits were rather restrictive (e.g. 35 mph). Although we experienced no problems, visitors are advised to be patient and observe the speed limits, even though it sometimes feels as if one is crawling across the island.
A nice condo in an attractive and safe setting with walking trails. It is located in Oahu's North Shore a bit away from Oahu's major attractions with the exception of Polynesian Cultural Center which is only 6 miles from the condo.
Traffic gets hectic at times, but access to Oahu's excellent public transportation is available in front of the property. Neighbors are very friendly and the manager is available on site to fix any problems. We have visited Hawaii many times before and stayed here for a month this time. We will rent this place again. However, people visiting Oahu for the first time may find this place a bit remote from the major attractions.
