CURRENTLY AVAILABLE July 15-24 and August 12-21 2016
Gorgeous sun-flooded 1800 sq ft 2 bed, 2 bath loft on the 6th floor with elevator or a landmark historical building on a quiet little street in TriBeCa, at the edge of Soho. The spectacular 6th-floor loft features an extra-large living space with ten oversize windows overlooking landmark 19th-century buildings and a rare vaulted ceiling that adds to the historical charm of the place. The furniture, a mixture of contemporary design (Noguchi, Bensen, Eero Saarinen) and of Danish Modern, is as comfortable as elegant. The art on the wall includes lithographies by Dali and Braque.
The stylish living room, with its long sectional sofa and cozy armchairs, is the ideal place for relaxing after a day around the city. The dining room table easily sits ten people, and there is an open kitchen. The loft has two exposures, south-west and north-east, and is flooded with sun from morning to evening thanks to its ten oversize windows -- a rare feature in a loft. All windows are equipped with blinds. The kitchen is fully equipped for great cooks, and there is a washer and dryer next to it.
The two bedrooms, both with queen beds and luxury mattresses, are at opposite ends of the loft, which is great for privacy. There is an extra comfortable single mattress for an additional sleeper. Both bedrooms have windows: one has a south-west exposure, the other a north-east exposure. One bathroom has a bathtub and the other a shower.
No smoking and not pets. As the furniture is upholstered in light-grey fabric, the loft is not suitable for children younger than 5.
The neighborhood is fantastic. Our street is located in TriBeCa, just one street away from Soho. Our building is surrounded with luxury hotels: the Hilton, the Soho Grand, the Tribeca Grand, the Sheraton and the chic Mondrian Soho. Very safe neighborhood, easy to hail a taxi cab. All the subway lines (1, 6, NRQW, ACE, JZ) are right outside your door. Short ride to museums. You are at the heart of downtown, and you can easily walk everywhere. North (just across Canal Street) there is Soho, with its quaint cobblestone streets and luxury boutiques, Greenwich Village, and Chelsea. South, there is Tribeca, with its chic restaurants and beautiful landmark industrial loft buildings. A few blocks West, there is the promenade along the Hudson River, where you can admire spectacular sunsets, take a ferry to the Statue of Liberty, and ride a bike for miles from the World Trade Center to the Upper West Side. And a few blocks East, charming Little Italy, elegant Nolita and lively Chinatown.
There are many excellent restaurants near by in Soho and Tribeca, and the best coffee shop (La Colombe) just around the corner. Excellent bakeries/pastry shops a few blocks away: Ladurée on West Broadway, Balthazar on Spring, Grand Daisy on Tribeca Square, Dominique Ansel on Spring and Thomson, and Maison Kayser on Greenwich Street. Pharmacies, delis, bakeries, gourmet supermarkets nearby. And of course there is Broadway for fantastic shopping... Along the Hudson river you will find bike rental, free tennis, and playgrounds. In the summer time, a playground on Thompson Street, a few blocks away in Soho, has a free outdoor pool for kids!
There is wireless access throughout the loft, as well as central heat and air conditioning. The recently renovated building has a very clean and elegant hallway, a key elevator and a video/intercom security system. Towels and sheets are provided by the owner. The cleaning fee is $80.

I am a French writer and my husband is a banker. We live in NY with our 16-year old bilingual daughter.
catherine cusset purchased this apartment in 2007
This is a great location and a beautiful place. The industrial loft buildings and the smaller houses are architectural jewels, with so many beautiful details that I keep noticing new ones each time I walk around the neighborhood. What I like most about our location is that it is at the crossroad of so many neighborhoods: Soho, Tribeca, the Financial District, Chinatown, Little Italy, and the lovely walk along the Hudson River with its spectacular sunsets and amazing views!
The loft is spacious, quiet, and very sunny. Thanks to the light hardwood floor, the pure lines of the contemporary furniture, the oversize windows and the view of the landmark buildings, the place feels very serene, almost zen. My husband and I enjoy this peacefulness after an active day in the city. And the armchairs and sofa are so comfortable when we watch a movie at night!
We absolutely loved our time in your loft. Thank you for suggesting the skate park, which was our probably our son's favorite part of the trip! We hope we will be able to stay in your place again next year!
When we walked into this apartment we knew our time in New York would be what we had hoped for.
The apartment was exactly as advertised. It was fantastic; spacious, bright and warm and a great size for our family of 5. The owner had gone out and found this huge Christmas tree (with much effort we later found out), and left the decorations for our kids to put on, it made the stay in New York at Christmas that much more special and we are very appreciative of her efforts.
The location was spot on. It was close to a number of different subway stations on Canal St which gave us very easy access to all areas of Manhattan. For those flying into JFK it is an easy subway ride with no line changes from the Howard Beach station on the A train.
Good shopping areas were a close walk away on Broadway and Canal Streets where you can get everything from cheap tourist mementos to high end fashion. It was also within easy walking distance of the Little Italy/China Town streets where there are many restaurants, we particularly recommend the famous, Ferrera Bakery and Cafe on Grand Street, one of our favourite places in New York, and for Chinese we had a great meal and experience at Wo Hop, in the basement at 17 Mott Street.
The owners were great to deal with and we could not recommend them, their apartment or the great city of New York more highly. Thanks to them for helping to give us a memorable family holiday.
We had the opportunity to stay in this apartment over Xmas / New Year in 2010/2011 and I don't think that we have ever been happier in a vacation rental.
There are definately no down sides to this apartment. It was spacious, comfortable and incredible convenient.
Having only been to new york once before (midtown) I was a little nervous about staying in tribeca, but during the whole process of corresponding with the owners I was very confident that our stay would be wonderful.
The apartment itself is beautiful. Even in the middle of winter, the enormous windows flood the apartment with sunshine. The apartment is only around the corner from the subway and literally 200m from the crossroad of soho; little italy and chinatown.
Being a fan of real coffee and having trouble finding good coffee in the states, I can assure true coffee fans that the best coffee shop in town is at the end of the street. After a week they were making our coffees as my husband walked in the door every morning.
We dined in little italy and chinatown and my only regret was that we didn't venture out to the tribeca restaurants until towards the end of our stay.
If you like to shop this is just a marvellous location. Many a day we lost ourselves in the beautiful shops of
After a few days in New York my son and I got terribly ill and fortunately found a doctor at Wallgrens at Times Square. While a long haul from the apartment, it was door to door on the subway and being from Australia at least we were able to get medical attention with not too much trouble.
If you like to read, this apartment is a veritable smorgasbord. The extent of their collection is fabulous.
To Catherine and Vlad ... thank you. It was really a privilege to stay in your home. I hope we treated it in the way what you would have hoped.
Your generosity in allowing us to share in your New York life was exceptional. I only hope that we have the chance to marry our time in new york with your time in france in the future.
To anyone that is looking at this review .... Have no hesitation that this is a wonderful apartment. Now I just want to stay there in summer.
We've enjoyed our stay tremendously and couldn't recommend this loft more: it is absolutely stunning and extremely well located near all the major subway lines. It is the perfect place from which to explore the city... but so comfortable and welcoming you will want to stay in!
My family of 4 (including 2 boys - 9 and 12 yrs) thoroughly enjoyed our one-week stay at this unit in July 2010. The accomodations were as described - bright, spacious, contemporary, and despite its central location - surprisingly quiet. Hands-down better than staying in a similarly priced hotel room! We visited during a heat-wave, but found that the unit's high ceilings, thick-bricked walls and 3 window-air conditioner units were able to keep the unit cool and comfortable throughout. We really enjoyed being able to explore the diverse neighbourhoods by foot. Located on a quiet street near Canal & Broadway, you are within easy walking distance to the main subway lines (2 minute walk), Hudson River, Tribeca, Soho, Little Italy, Chinatown and more. The charming rooftop provides a dramatic view of the Empire State Building. The owner is prompt and helpful, providing plenty of information about the unit and the neighbourhood prior to our arrival. She ensured that all items and requests (about an extra sleeping accomodation) were taken care of. We would definitely recommend staying at this wonderful loft!
