|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Vista de Santa Fe offers spacious living with a 360-degree view of New Mexico. It’s so quiet, you can only hear crickets and coyotes. Complete with a gourmet kitchen, wet bar, and outdoor grilling area with TV. I've taken a one-year break from VRBO to travel...before that, I hosted guests on VRBO for 5 years, and EVERY guest rated my property, and their stay, a 5-star experience. :) Contact me directly for an accurate price quote.
Wake up to an unobstructed 20-mile view of the mountains. From the coffee bar, pour yourself a strong cup of coffee, nibble on fresh fruit, and curl up in the sitting area with a book without leaving the master bedroom. My home includes a stationary recumbent bike and exercise equipment. This is your secluded, luxury home away from home on 14+ acres.
If you hike, bike, rock climb, ski, snow shoe, golf, fly fish, hunt, or soar...this property provides you easy access to some of the best in the country. You can hike/bike directly off the property for miles on private land—where you’ll find ancient fossils, petroglyphs, and pottery shards from previous visitors along a creek. Later that evening, you can star gaze in the dark skies from your very private patio off the bedroom, or watch one of the 400+ movies available in a home theater with popcorn next to the fireplace on a snowy day. Casa de Vista is a perfect romantic get-away, or a place to gather with family and friends.
After a few days, you might want to venture off the property…maybe. The club house to the nationally-rated Paako Ridge golf course is less than a 8-minute drive. Many say this 27-hole mountain course, designed by an award-winning architect, is the best in New Mexico. You can take flight in a sailplane out of Moriarty, staying up for hours in warm thermals rising off the desert in a high-performance glider.
Hike to the top of Sandia Crest, then drive back into history through the mining towns of Golden, Madrid, and Cerrillos, on your way to Santa Fe, only 45 minutes from the finest art, crafts, theater, music, museums and restaurants offered in the Southwest. Ride a hot air balloon over Albuquerque the next day.
Bandolier National Monument, site of ancestral pueblo and cliff dwellings, the Pecos Wilderness, and the famous Chaco Canyon are all day trips that usually start with a breakfast burrito. Welcome to New Mexico!
It's hard for me to believe, but I've done all the activities I've described above from my beautiful home when I'm not at work--and, now you can too. Casa de Vista is the perfect vacation home to rest, recreate, and explore the Land of Enchantment with family and friends. Only a 30-minute drive from the Albuquerque airport and to city amenities.
Hope to see you soon! Ted

I'm a physicist in the defense industry. I want to share with you the beauty of New Mexico while staying in a contemporary casa that I designed and built. This is my home and you are my special guests.
Ted Kreifels purchased this house in 2007
Scenic property only 45 minutes to Santa Fe and 35 minutes to central Albuquerque.
Hike off the property along a creek on private land. Drive along the scenic Turquoise Trail to Santa Fe for a day out shopping and site seeing. 10 minutes from Paa-ko Ridge Golf Club.
We were lucky enough to stay at Ted's place during the week of Thanksgiving. Ted was prompt, welcoming, and did a great job getting us settled. The home is unbelievably beautiful. We woke up to the sunrise above the mountains as we looked through huge windows in the master bedroom. Ted's dog is old and very sweet, our kids grew attached to him and looked forward to returning home to see Seltzer. The home is well away from other homes with garage access and a private drive. This made unloading and loading the car much easier than other places we have stayed in the city- not being worried about stuff being stolen, leaving the car open for an hour while unpacking, etc. The kids loved the stuffed animal collection and there were plenty of kids movies to watch. The kitchen is something folks have mentioned- it really is beautiful and functional. The beds are very comfy, and the whole place has a very luxurious feel. The mountain is close for ski season, and the local grocery store was friendly and had some pre-prepared meals that made things easy. Thank you, Ted!
We had stayed two nights at another vrbo that was not as advertised. So I began searching for something in the Albuquerque area that was spacious and away from the crowds. We found this listing and the pictures looked unbelievable. We saw that it was available for the duration of our vacation so I booked it online. We soon after, within an hour, received a call from Ted. He personally welcomed us and explained some further details of his property. He was very personable and explained to us he would do whatever he could to make our stay at his property outstanding being that the previous place was a let down.
He emailed me explicit driving directions and all the personal nuances of his property.
When we pulled up to the house and entered, my wife and I almost dropped our jaws when we looked at the view out the windows. Spectacular doesn't do it justice. It is amazing!!
The house is first class in every detail. The kitchen is the nicest I have ever been in. I love to cook and could really feel like I was a first class chef in this kitchen. We love to walk. Every day we would take a 5 mile walk on the very quiet and uninhabited roads the led out of the property. I love to golf and found out that one of NM top rated courses was just minutes away. Great course. Coming from Minnesota and this being our very first trip to NM we found the area, the mountains and the house to be truly amazing.
After our first day my wife asked me to book it for next year she loved it so much.
If you like the outdoors, quiet and being away from it all, you will love this first class home.
We've stayed in several VRBO/Air b'n'b places over the past few years and this one tops the list. We came in for the Balloon Fiesta and almost didn't want to leave the house! The design of the place is lovely -- spacious and comfortable. Secluded with gorgeous views and anything you could possibly want in a kitchen set-up. It's about a 25 minute drive to the bustle of Albuquerque. The stargazing was spectacular! Also highly recommend a stop at Java Junction in nearby Madrid. :-) Ted was effortless to work with and we will absolutely be back!
This house (and the surroundings) are simply beautiful. There's plenty of room to find privacy, but also very generous shared spaces. The owner is a dream to work with. And, we (including small children) loved his dog. We plan on staying again in the future.
This house was everything we could have asked for and more! It is in the best possible location away from other houses which we like. There are so many amenities that this house has to offer! My husband and I rented the property for an anniversary trip. It was a perfect place to reconnect with each other. From the gorgeous views from every angle to the double bath and double shower, which also have great views! Then there's the awesome kitchen! We WILL be back! I love this place thank you Ted for sharing your home with us and making it so comfortable!
Just finished another four day stay at Ted's place - my fourth visit. Have been here with my brothers and sisters twice in addition to special friends. If you never understood why they call New Mexico "the land of enchantment" - you will be crystal clear after a stay here. As impressive as the house photos above are, it just doesn't do full justice to the beauty of this place. Its the perfect place for those who enjoy cycling, golf, hiking or just catching up on reading (or each other) with the best gourmet kitchen at hand for your culinary desires. This kitchen has everything! I honestly cant decide which is more beautiful from this house - sunrise or sunset. Absolute seclusion amplifies the beautiful sounds of the outdoors and the occasional visiting wildlife. And with 60 mile vistas from Sandia Peak out the front door to Santa Fe Baldy out the great room and patios your eyes will never become complacent. Even the occasional afternoon or evening summer thunderstorms are such an incredible light show before quickly passing by. And with Santa Fe just 20-30 minutes away, there is a whole separate outing for food and culture if one so desires. Of course you must stop in Madrid, NM, (just up the road from this place) for a unique drink or draft beer at the Mineshaft Tavern and catch up with the Wild Hogs and Del Fuegos. Its all good.
As one who spent many years working and living in Albuquerque, and who really loves NM, I just cant see ever staying anywhere else when I go back to NM. Ted knows comfort and class in sharing this place for those looking for a great experience and some time to just decompress.
