|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Casa Stella is located on first and second floor of a 17th century building and it’s really bright and sunny. It’s approx. 80 sq. meters, recently restored and offers a lovely views in a quiet little square (Venetian campo).
From the kitchen, situated on the first floor, a staircase leads up to an open living room area. In this elegant room, with terrazzo veneziano and oak-beamed ceiling, you will find two very comfortable sofas, a dining table, a DVD player and the TV set. The master bedroom offers a king size bed along with a closet and a dresser. It’s very peaceful and quiet. Five steps will take you to the second bedroom where you will find two twin beds: it's like a loft that overlooks the living room. The kitchen is newly installed and fully equipped: you will find microwave, cookware & kitchen utensils, cooker, electric kettle, toaster, coffee maker and anything else you may need to enjoy your stay! In the bathroom, full of light and beautifully decorated, you’ll find a bath-tub that you can also use as a shower and the washing machine.
The house is very comfortable, having WIFI internet (the new modem ensures high speed reliable internet connection), air-conditioning and independent heating.
The location of Casa Stella is great.
Right outside the house, you will find the Canal Grande with its beautiful, ancient buildings, campo dei Frari with its typical pasticcerie and one of the most beautiful churches in town.
In the neighborhood you’ll find all the typical Venetian stores you expect to discover in Venice: bakeries, fruit & vegetables little stores, fresh fish and meat. This is one of the areas where Venetians still live, go to school, play with kids, hang laundry outside the windows and take care of day-by-day activities. Thanks to this, you’ll also be able to choose between good trattorie (typical low-cost restaurants), pizzerie and bars where to have a spritz (Venetian aperitivo) and cicchetti (warm and hot finger food to take with Prosecco or a glass of local Cabernet).
On foot, it will take you 15 minutes walk to reach Piazza San Marco.
Literally a perfect location for exploring all that Venice has to offer. Our two daughters (aged 22 and 25) joined my wife and I and this place was perfect for the four of us. A large common area, separate kitchen, separate main bedroom were very ample space. Far enough from the tourist madness of the Rialto Bridge area, yet close enough to everything. Less than an easy ten minute walk from the Piazzale Roma (main parking area for Venice) and a grand canal vaporetto stop just a couple minutes walk. The owner is great to communicate with and I like the fact that all charges are included - no add-ons for cleaning, etc. that many others seem to tack on. Ms. Tanya met us as planned and the check in process was very simple.
Thanks Carla! We hope to be back!
“Casa Stella is a great place to stay while in the Venice! We were met by Mrs. Tanja at the bus station. It worked out great because she helped us to navigate the way to the apartment and pointed out the different paths to the train or vaporetto routes. The hallway entrance to the second floor does have a light. It actually works out better that the apartment is on the 2nd floor and loft above since noise from the street level can be heard and traffic can be busy. We did not have any problems with this since we were out most of the day. The accommodations are spacious for our family of five which consisted of our adult kids- ages 19, 22, & 27. We celebrated out daughter’s 27th birthday in Venice! Everything is in close proximity to sites, transportation, and local restaurants. Carla was very friendly and helpful in her suggestions and communicated with me prior to our rental period so that I was able to purchase tickets online for major attractions. This was appreciated, since we avoided the long lines. We did have some issues with the TV connection but found out that it was due to the storms and rain prior to our arrival and affected the neighbors as well. When reported, Carla came the next day to verify and was able to get a tech appointment for the next business day. The weather cooperated too. The forecast predicted rain but turned out to be partially sunny and we were able to enjoy the 2-3 days that we were in Venice. This is a central location to all areas in Venice. We found pastry stores and supermarket around the corner. The apartment was clean and the master bedroom was very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay here very much. You can get lost in the many bridges, channels and pathways, but will find the great little Venetian shops, eateries, and restaurants in the alley ways. I would heartily recommend this apartment. Venice is beautiful and unique. We loved our stay here and would look forward to coming back.
See the other 1 star review for accurate description of furnishings etc.
Be aware..ceiling height in the bedroom is 6 feet and entrance door to bedroom is less than that.
This unit is not on floors 1 and 2. It's on 2 and 3. You walk up a dark staircase, there is a light, just to get to the first floor of the unit. Lighting is minimal at best. The internet didn't work at all during the stay. The courtyard can be noisy at night.
"Elegant" is a generous description of this unit.
We travelled to Venice for two nights with our three sons in their early twenties. Carla's apartment was perfect for our family of five. The kitchen on the main level seated all of us and there was a separate bed for each of the boys. The apartment is quite large and the two couches provide plenty of seating. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. There is a grocery store right around the corner and many restaurants nearby. Carla's friend met us at the train station and took us to the apartment. It was a very easy walk and quite close. The sights are a little further away but a very pleasent walk. At the end of a long day it was lovely to go back to our quite apartment off the beaten track but still not far from the centre. Carla, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with. I needed to contact her once while we were there, I wasn't sure how to turn up the heat, and she got back to me right away. I highly recommend this apartment.
We had the pleasure of staying at beautiful Casa Stella for 2 days. Carla was just wonderful to deal with, she was very responsive to my emails, super helpful and accommodation to our needs. It was great she had someone meet us at the bus station to guide us to the house, being our first time in Venice. The house is located in an ideal spot, 10 minute walking distance from train/bus station and about 10-15 minutes from the San Marco. I loved that fact; it was in walking distance to all attractions but still somewhat removed from all the tourists areas. The house itself is beautiful and exactly as described and pictured; ideal for families with kids. We stayed with 3 couples and it was great for the 2 days, but to share 1 bathroom with 6 people could be tough for much longer than that. We knew that when we booked so non-issue. Overall we truly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Casa Stella.
My husband and I spent 3 nights at Casa Stella. First, dealing with Carla from the time we booked right up until we left was very pleasant. She answered emails very quickly and in English. Ms. Tanja met us at the train station and guided us to the apartment. (No way could we have ever found it on our own as this was our first trip to Venice. It is so easy to get lost there but that's also part of the experience!) The location was great - in a small quiet square very close to Santa Maria Glorioso del Frari square. This is a great location because its an easy 10-minute walk to the train station, only over 2 bridges, and is away from the massive touristy crowds close to the Rialto and Accademia bridges. Those are an easy walk to visit but I am SO GLAD we did not stay close to them because of the noise and congestion.
The apartment has great wifi service. Bed was very comfortable. Ceilings are not high in the bedroom so if you are over 6 ft tall, beware you will need to duck! We were able to leave the windows open (no screens) and it was perfect sleeping weather. There is AC if you need it but we did not. We only used the kitchen for a few breakfasts because we had such wonderful dining experiences out! Our favorite 'dining find' was Trattoria do Silvio which is a quaint restaurant off the beaten path on the way towards Santa Margherita square. You dine under the trees. The squid ink cuttlefish was superb! House wine was excellent as was the case in every place we tried in Italy!
If we ever return to Venice, we hope this apartment is available. The upper level extra beds would be perfect for another couple (not very private though) because it opens up to the living area. Perfect for kids or additional single travelers. Highly recommend this apartment! Everything in Venice has steps so travelers beware: take as little heavy luggage as possible!
