The house is well represented - very comfortable, modern, and with excellent conveniences.

  • 5 of 5

Mullaghard is a very nice house in the hidden gem of Castlerock, Northern Ireland. All conveniences are located within walking distance of the house, and the area and residents could not be more friendly and helpful. The owner provides excellent information and recommendations for enjoyment of guests, and his communication is uncompromising before, during, and after the visit. We enjoyed the restaurants, pubs, beach, and the services of the local country club for meals (did not play golf, although the course is beautiful). Many sites are nearby, particularly on the coastal road (A2): do not miss the Giant's Causeway, the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, and the beautiful seaside resorts of Portstewart and Portrush. The fare at Ramone Seafood and Wine Bar in Portrush is very worthwhile. If possible take the short drive to the Magilligan Point ferry for the 10 minute transit to Donegal (Republic Of Ireland - another country!), eat at Kealy's right off the ferry, and traverse the Inishown Peninsula. A car or train trip to Derry is highly recommended; it is a very interesting walled city, one of only two left in Northern Ireland. Limavady is an entertaining city, also, and only a short drive from Castlerock. Coleraine has all conveniences for shopping, banks, restaurants, etc., and is a 10 minute drive away. There is much additional touring information in a booklet in the house for guest's perusal. Keep in mind that the currency of N.I. is British Pound Sterling, and Euro's are the currency of the Republic if you go to both. We would highly recommend this house as a vacation destination, and just wish it were closer to our home in Texas.

Comfortable, Quiet, Contemporary House Close to the Beach and Train

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a two-week stay in this comfortable house. It was simple to find and easy to park in front of the house. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. We found the inside of the house to be spacious and bright. The three bedrooms are comfortable and filled with light. The living room has comfortable seating and a big TV. The modern kitchen has everything you need to prepare your own meals. There's a convenient grocery store down the street. If you're not in the mood to cook or drive far, there are a couple of restaurants close by (Castlerock Golf Club and Temple Bistro) that you can walk to. We were pleased to find it was only a 5 minute walk to the train which we took to Derry and Belfast. The beautiful Castlerock beach is a two-minute walk out the front door. The owner was very helpful and communicated well. The wifi worked perfectly. Our expectations were exceeded. I would definitely stay here again.

Outstanding property in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Four of us, two couples, stayed at this property in Castlerock the last week in May, 2016. It is a beautiful, extremely comfortable home. Everything was exactly as described. I have stayed in many self-catering properties, but never one that was more lovely, never one that was so well equipped. The location is perfect for visiting Northern Ireland. We don't golf, but noted many nearby golf courses. While we didn't meet the owners personally, they provided us a wealth of suggestions in written form as to places to visit, to eat, to get things we needed. Just wonderful!

The location is excellent to tour Belfast, the Coastal Causeway,Derry,Bushmill, Port Rush and Port Stewart and Donegal. The local residents were very friendly and helpful in so many ways.

An extremely comfortable home away from home.

Happy Days

  • 5 of 5

A great trip back to Northern Ireland and a big part of that was the lovely accommodation.

It was as advertised and more - we felt quite at home. It could not have been handier to all amenities...the beach, the grocery store, the train, the tennis courts to name a few. The well equipped kitchen, the heating system, the TVs, the use of the telephone, the laundry and the clear instructions for everything added so much to the comfort and ease we felt.

The Peter Thompson Centre just behind the house was also an excellent venue for our family get together - even got my makeup and nails done just down the street!

The highlights were the train trips to Coleraine and Ballymena, the "Game of Thrones" locations and dinner at Kealys in Greencastle, Co. Donegal via the Magilligan ferry.
