The neighbourhood: Our apartment is located in the Village d'Aligre in the heart of Paris, minutes away from Place de la Bastille in the 12th arrondissement. An authentic and vibrant Parisian residential neighborhood. The Village d’Aligre is famous for its daily food market and its numerous and diverse gourmet shops, bakeries, bistros and restaurants. It houses the Marché d'Aligre, one of the largest and most popular outdoor marketplaces in Paris, and a two-minute walk from our apartment. This is an authentic Parisian gathering place where local residents shop and meet friends for lunch, a cup of coffee, or a glass of wine.
La Coulée Verte (eight-minute walk) is constructed on an elevated former railroad, It is a five-kilometer long sanctuary where Parisians go jogging, read a book, or meet up with friends, and a unique place to see the city from a completely different angle. Place de la bastille is 10 minutes away on foot, and the Marais 15 minutes
the apartment: Our spacious one-bedroom apartment is conveniently located just around the corner from the famous Marché d'Aligre and very close to the historic Place de la Bastille. It is housed on the fifth floor of a 19th century Haussman-style building. The building has an elevator, and the entrance is secured with an electronic pass system and interphone.
The apartment is immaculate and bright, and offers an unobstructed view of the skies and landscapes of the city. It was thoroughly renovated in 2010. It is our Parisian pied-à-terre when we visit Paris (we live in the south of France.) The apartment is uncluttered but has a personal feel -- we leave our books, art catalogs, Paris guides, CDs and DVDs for our guests’ enjoyment. Our excellent and very reliable cleaning lady will provide weekly cleaning services at no cost. The apartment is a non-smoking environment and we do not accept pets. The windows are very large and easy to climb on and therefore the apartment is not suitable for children .

The Perfect Apartment
Over the past 20 years we've stayed in many different Paris apartments. So it is no small thing to be able to say that this one was the absolute best. The high ceilings lend an air of spaciousness (my husband is tall), the bed is v comfortable (even for a tall husband), the view from the windows is ever-fascinating (I like a nice view), and the place is equipped with every amenity you could imagine (so thoughtful). Jacqueline is the perfect hostess, always responsive to any questions or issues. We loved the new (to us) quartier, loved the market, loved the nearby couscous restaurant (on rue d'Aligre). We counted more than 8 bakeries within two blocks of the apartment (best one is Moison, just across from the covered market on the place d'Aligre). We had a lovely time. Merci, Jacqueline.
Comfortable, well appointed and secure apartment
The apartment Is well situated in the 12th arr. and only two blocks from the metro station. We were pleased to learn that we were only three blocks from a major grocery store. There are numerous restaurants where you can get something to eat, from a quick snack to a main meal, all at reasonable prices. The apartment is well appointed with all the needed amenities, including a modern kitchen, cable tv and a comfortable bed. We were also very pleased to see how secure the building and the unit was. We felt entirely at ease living there. We were in the apartment for a month and loved every minute of it!
PERFECT! Home sweet home in the middle of Paris!
This property was a real gem! Elegant and tastefully decorated, very clean, comfortable, and equipped with all necessary amenities and more. It is perfectly located, close to transport (several metro stations are walking distance), bakeries (we could see three from the apartment!), shops, cafés, delis, and of course, the famous Rue d'Aligre markets! Everything you need right at your door step! So if you want to live like a true Parisian in a wonderful apartment, which screams out "quality", right in the centre of town, and all for a reasonable price, do not hesitate and book this place! We did and never looked back!! Seriously, we felt right at home… Jacqueline was the perfect host, right from the start: lovely to deal with, efficient, responsive, and a great communicator! Everything was spot on and very organised to ensure that we could make the most of our stay. And we did!! We would book this place again, no questions asked! In fact, we cannot wait to go back!
We have stayed in a lot of one bedroom apartments in Paris; however, this is the only one we could stay in permanently. The bed is great, and the apartment is light and airy. Many wonderful restaurants, butchers, bakeries, fruit/vegetable markets, cheese mongers, as well as 2 grocery stores, and weekly markets. The restaurants are more reasonably priced than other areas of Paris. We are looking forward to returning.
Recommended without a doubt
Our month long stay in Jacqueline's apartment could not have been better. This was our fifth apartment rental in Paris and the one we would definitely book again. We truly loved that the apartment was set up as a pied de terre rather than a rental apartment. Echoing other comments, the light, size, attention to detail, quality of furnishings/ appliances and location make the apartment a haven at the end of the day. Having the apartment cleaned weekly is a true treat. Jacqueline was prompt, efficient and a delight to work with. Having rented apartments throughout France I can say we were truly grateful to have clear appliance instructions. If exploring the Paris food scene is of interest the area is vibrant with wonderful restaurants, markets, cheese shops and boulangeries We walked from the apartment to six outstanding, memorable dinners.
Exceptional! First time in Paris...
We spent a delightful week in this charming apartment in Bastille. It was perfect… beautifully furnished, impeccably clean, spacious, bright and airy, with all amenities. The location is fantastic!! Steps away to wonderful patisseries, cafes and restaurants. Just outside of the apartment is a daily market selling fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and fish. A very short distance to shopping, metro & bus. Paris is beautiful, and staying in Bastille gave me the opportunity to explore and experience the “Parisian” way of living. I will certainly recommend, and if the opportunity presents itself, visit again. xo
