Peace - Owner Comment: : My brother calls our property, a little 'peace' of paradise. The silence all around is broken by the songs of birds, hearing swans flying by, cricket calls in the evenings, and the sound of waves lapping the beach. Sunsets over the lake are spectacular and many enjoy it around the large fire pit on the beach. Thank you for considering our home for your vacation. We pray for each of our renters to have a re-creating, wonderful, and joy filled time while staying on our property. Sincerely, Valerie Porter
Married to my wonderful husband for 40 years. We have 5 grown children, and 5 darling grandchildren.
Valerie Porter purchased this house in 1982
This home is so comfortable, quiet, and on the beach of Lake Huron. It is surrounded by 50 foot trees and secluded.
Besides being secluded, it's only a 15 minute drive to the ferries of Mackinac Island, 2 minutes to shopping, restaurants, 6 screen movie theater, and lots of water activities.
Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful home. The home was even more than we imagined, we were so comfotable. We loved that the early risers could get coffee and sit and talk in the family room off the garage while the others slept. The dining room was perfect for eating together and playing Catch Phrase at night. We were able to sit at the patio table Saturday and watch the many boats and the water fowl. Tasted wine at Nicholas Winery, saw the dam and watched boats go through the lock. The girls even got to do some shopping while the guys checked out the brewery. We had a great time.

Once again for our second August, we had a wonderful time here, thanks Valerie, your home is great, and an extra thanks for adding the kayaks this year, I monitored him and my grandson really enjoyed that part. Thanks to Tim, the rental manager, as usual you were very helpful during our stay. Fantastic sunsets, we got a lot of memories in our pictures including the bald eagle who landed in a nearby tree by Tims house to pose for my camera. You can see the Mackinac Bridge from the deck, even though it's 15 miles away, and on clear nights it's lit up, and beautiful. There's a lot to see and do in the area. Nice lighthouse we found near Rogers City that you can go in with the grandkids. Last year we went to Mackinac City and then Mackinac Island, only a short drive away. If you've never been to the Island, you need to go at least once in your life, take the kids/grandkids, We've gone several times. Cheboygan has a lot to offer as well, plenty of stores, restaurants, the river, and a nice park by the lake. Thanks Valerie and Tim, (They make you feel welcomed at this place.) We highly recommend this wonderful vacation home. The Rice family.
Our family really enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. The location was great for all our daily outings. The dining room table was large enough for all of us to sit around for our nightly game night. The view of the lake is breath taking. Valerie was wonderful to work with too. I know we made many great family memories staying here.
This is a great property with an excellent location. There were 7 adults with 3 kids and everyone had plenty of room. Everyone had a very enjoyable week and we look forward to coming back.
We stayed for 3 days during Labor day Weekend. Overall, it was wonderful experience and enjoyed a lot as what we planned. Trip to Mackinac Island (just 15 miles fun drive) and shipwreck tours.
With 14 members (including 4 kids), this home was the best choice for our group. Had BBQ party in the evenings and fun games in beach (though it is kind of stone), still we were able to enjoy.
Rating this home for 5 star experience, because we had all what we expected in this home
We had a wonderful week at this rental. Lots of room for our family, it was wonderful that there was seating at the dining room table for all of us. Huge deck and yard for the kids and dogs. The views were so relaxing and were able to take long walks on back roads. The beach is huge but rocky and shallow. Cheboygan State Park is just a few miles away and has a beautiful sandy beach for the kids.
The five bedrooms were very comfortable and 3 bathrooms were and added plus with all linens supplied. The kitchen has everything we needed. Loved having only one TV as we spend more family time together. Thank you for making 2012 Family Vacay fantastic.
A great house with lovely views of the straits. Plenty of room for all of us and the local family and friends who popped by. The house is well maintained, beds are all comfy. Everyone enjoyed the outdoor space, the fire pit was a great treat. Tim the property manager was very helpful and made us feel at home.
Not to be missed, can't wait to go back.
