About Hayes Hyman

I grew up vacationing in the NC mountains. I built this home to share my love of the mountains and nature with my children. From the coast to the mountains, and everything in between, NC has so much to offer. We built this house on the best lot I could find at the top of a mountain, and the primary purpose was to create the most incredible views of the mountains for the best porch-sitting ever. And then we furnished it as a true second home with the finest mountain decor. We hope you enjoy the sights and sounds of the mountains as much as we do in our lovely home!

Hayes Hyman purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Hayes Hyman chose Asheville Area

We had this home built as a second home because we love the mountains and the view. Day trips to the Biltmore House are always a big hit. The quaint mountain shops offer unique shopping experiences, and we love the awesome mountain golf courses nearby. This home is perched at the top of a mountain in a secluded location with incredible long range views, but yet it offers all the charming mountain decor and amenities required by our family. This location allows us to have a secluded luxurious home on the top of a mountain, yet all within a 15-30 minute drive from the golf courses, restaurants, grocery stores, shops, lake activities and much more. It's the perfect location.

What makes this cabin unique

You can enjoy the spectacular mountain view from every room in the house. The secluded location provides a tranquil privacy. You'll love the sounds and views of the mountains. Located at the top of a mountain, you are well above the city lights and far enough from the town to enjoy the secluded privacy, yet close enough to go shopping or enjoy day trips to places like the Biltmore House in Asheville or historic Black Mountain. We invite you to bring your friends along and enjoy a fun filled night in the family room while watching movies on the 'big screen' TV, playing games, or a challenging game of billiards or ping-pong.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for the use of your beautiful home in Lake Lure. My folks loved it and the whole family had a great time. It was perfectly remote and perfectly close to everything. We couldn't have asked for a better location. We look forward to returning in the future!

Best views in NC!

  • 5 of 5

We've lived in NC for 19 years and every summer we rent a house in the mountains. By far, this cabin has the best views of all. In fact, it is likely impossible to find better views anywhere in the NC mountains. You feel as though you are on top of the mountains, looking down on all the rest, nothing standing in the way of seeing it all.

The house is exceptionally well-appointed. Anything you would need to live up there is there. The kitchen is better stocked than my own kitchen at home! The house is large enough that our party of 13 was never cramped for space at any time, and the expansive decking makes it even more spacious. It is a gorgeous, spacious, comfortable home, with privacy and serenity galore, and the deck that goes along 3 sides of the house, just makes it that much more enjoyable and spacious.

The one drawback to the experience, depending on how you look at it (it was a fun adventure for some in our group), is the road going up to the cabin. We read terms like "intimidating" and "challenging". Some in our party called it "treacherous" and "terrifying". LOL But we braved the drive a few times during the week we were there, and it got easier each time. Those with 4WD vehicles had a less stressful time of it.

Because of the drive up to the cabin, and the distance to a town, we were glad to have brought all the food we would need for the week. We were glad for the things to occupy us up at the cabin, so the ping-pong and pool table was a treat. We also went to the horse stables down the road and enjoyed a great ride there one morning, which we highly recommend. We ventured into Asheville and Lake Lure a couple days, which is a good 45+ minute drive to each one. But none of us wanted to leave the beautiful setting of the cabin, enjoying the sunrises and sunsets each day, with coffee and wine in hand. On the last morning we were there, the three of us that were there to the end, just sat silently on the deck, overlooking the mountains and wishing we didn't have to leave!

It's a great place to unwind, but bring all the food you will need, because it's not just a quick trip to the store or a restaurant! We will definitely consider going back again, though probably not for a whole week, like we did this time. It would be awesome to see the colors of fall from this place.

Beyond breathtaking! Amazing! Outstanding! Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

As I sit trying to write this review, I realize there are not enough positive descriptive adjectives in the English language to adequately describe this cabin and its' owner; I'll try though.

- The cabin owner is the most cordial, accommodating, genuine, kind, knowledgeable wonderful owner I have ever dealt with. I have been renting cabins in western North Carolina since 1981...never have I met a nicer, more down to earth owner. He truly cares about his home that he so graciously allows others to stay in. He also cares deeply for the mountains and the area surrounding his cabin, thus he is a wealth of knowledge of all things available to renters and more than willing to answer any questions you may have.

- The cabin is absolutely gorgeous! To say it is clean is an's immaculate!

The kitchen have everything you could possibly need...and I mean everything! There is plenty of seating for everyone at each meal and lots of room for more than one cook in the kitchen.

Both the Great Room and the Basement Family Room have tons of seating and each offers a view of the breathtaking mountains just outside. The bathrooms are large and fully equipped with everything you may need and very, very clean. At the end of a wonderful day, everyone wants a good night's sleep. You are assured of that on any bed in the cabin - all are so comfortable and have high quality bedding for the ultimate night of rest.

- The view from the cabin is one of the best if not THE BEST I have experienced in 35 years of renting. You will experience not only a beautiful sunrise but a breathtaking sunset, as well. Due to the location of the cabin it has approximately a 320 degree view and every bit of it is.....well, let's just say....sigh producing. You will want to spend as much time as possible outside on the porches enjoying the scenery.

- If you do decide to venture down the mountain the town of Lake Lure is close by. The village of Marion is a short drive away and has many quaint shops and restaurants as well as grocery stores or anything else you may need. Asheville, NC is a short drive away and has fine dining, concerts, art shows in addition to the famous Biltmore House.

My personal choice....pack everything you want or need for your time at Carolina Heaven....and don't leave. I cannot imagine even wanting to go anywhere when you are already at 'heaven'!

Beautiful Area, breathtaking views!

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful time in this well appointed home. The drive up the mountain is well worth it. Hard to describe how beautiful the view is, sunrise and sunsets were stunning! Plenty of room in the house for people to spread out, had 2 families and no one felt cramped at anytime.

Beautiful cabin with outstanding view!

  • 5 of 5

We had eight adults and four children when we stayed for a week recently. The accommodations were very comfortable, well maintained, and very nicely equipped. The view from the wrap-around deck is outstanding! The fog was spread throughout the mountains on our first day-it beat anything we have seen in the Smoky Mountains! The sunsets were beautiful each night!

Yes, the drive up and down Young's Mountain was a challenge the first day, but we got used to it quickly and met only two cars going the other way during the week. I tapped lightly on my horn as I went around some of the hairpin turns. We drove a small SUV-new tires and enough power for the trip up.

Asheville, The Biltmore House, Chimney Rock State Park, and Lake Lure were close enough and very enjoyable.

Rented house to attend a weekend family wedding at Lake Lure Inn but wished we could have stayed much longer. The house and it's views are spectacular. Everyone one in our party loved it! Hope to go again!

Secluded, peaceful, exquisite views

Beautiful place. We have been there twice now and enjoyed both equally as well. Once in the fall and once in the summer. Every detail has been thought out in the layout, design and features. The view is fantastic!

I would highly recommend.
