This casita is lovely, newly remodeled, nicely furnished and conveniently located in a building by itself with complete privacy. We are giving the surroundings special care and love this spring!
People have told us they love it because it is cute, comfortable, convenient, oh so clean and QUIET (but yet only steps away from our La Mesa Village commercial area where there is great coffee, breakfast, happy hour, dinner - whatever your heart desires!) and easy access to all freeways, making getting anywhere in San Diego a breeze!
Oliver's Place was completely remodeled in 2010, with upgrades added each year since. It seems more spacious than the average studio because of the vaulted, open beam ceiling. Many say the pictures do not do the space justice. Unexpected are the lovely open, unobstructed views out the spacious windows in 3 directions - to the hills of Mexico, Mission Valley and then to the highest peak in San Diego - Cowles Mountain. A new deck was added in June 2011 as well as a laundry room. Both add to the enjoyment and convenience of guests. 2012 brought more creature comforts: a new Ortho mattress, GE AC that works wonderfully in the hottest of weather, and finally, a new 42'' flat screen TV.
We are conscientious about protecting the environment. We use clean solar electric power and provide opportunity to recycle. Our gardens are lush and water is managed with a drip system. There is a wonderful deck for sunset relaxation and a ZEN-like Garden with swing for reading or just relaxing.
Hummingbirds and wrens and mocking birds visit the yard. There are hawks in the open sky and you can hear the clatter of large flocks of green parrots that visit the Eucalyptus and Jacaranda trees year round.
There is safe and lighted off street parking.
Just steps from the front door of this studio is the heart of the Village of La Mesa, an historic location known as the 'Jewel of The Hills' (click on the link below for La Mesa history and information). There are excellent restaurants, coffee shops, antique and specialty shops. Evenings are often filled with the sound of music from the local venues. The Friday Farmers Market bustles with activity year round. There is sunshine (the coast can be foggy), sunsets, hilly vistas and ocean breezes.
But you may be coming to San Diego for the famous attractions - the beaches, Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Coronado Island, San Diego Bay and events at Qualcomm Stadium. All those places are 10 plus or minus miles away from La Mesa (check out the map) and the freeways that take you there are just a half mile away from the studio. The trolley is handy and provides easy access to downtown San Diego (see link for the Trolley service) and everything between! Visiting San Diego State University? The trolley is the best way to get there because it drops you right on campus!
Whether you are here to visit family or friends who live here or just to vacation on your own we hope you will make our vacation rental a part of your plans.
Long time La Mesa residents! Love to travel and love to use VRBO when we do travel. We are semi-retired - Geologist and Nurse Practitioner/Medical Anthroplogist.
Kathryn Boe purchased this studio in 1996
La Mesa is (almost) always sunny! We find we like that quality as opposed to the fog that can be ever present right on the coast. So, living inland is our choice.
A personal space, made more so with owner's travel momentos, rotating art from the main house, pottery, antiques handed down in the family.
There is hardly a thing that speaks more loudly for the value of our VRBO than to have our guests return, in many cases, again and again! Thank you all for your continued support and for your friendship. We have been enriched by your presence in our lives.
La Casita is a very nice and comfortable place and the owners are very kindly people.
Our long stay in La Casita (3 weeks) was perfect, there was everything: every kind of staff to inhabit, nice garden, stunning view and absolutely it’s a very quiet place.
Restaurants, different kind of shops, supermarket are very close (also by walk). The trolley station (very useful to reach many places of San Diego area) is just 5-10 minutes by walk.
Sincerely I recommend la Casita, for enjoy a short or long Holiday in San Diego area.
We enjoyed this beautiful studio in La Mesa. This hosts thought of everything we might need and provided so much helpful information in the homeaway app. The weather was beautiful and the location perfect. We will definitely stay here again when we return.
Kathryn and Bill were such sweet owners! The place was absolutely adorable and it totally beats going to a hotel! Quiet in the morning and having the comfort of little stores nearby. Will definitely be renting from them again!
This studio is a healing retreat with style! The bed was amazingly comfortable. The sunsets and view made each evening memorable. I was able to walk to the health food store, yoga and many shops and restaurants. I felt so safe staying by myself. The location was accessible to anywhere in San Diego, as it's right by the freeway. The town of La Mesa is a little gem in a giant city. The Zen garden was a sacred space for meditation with the water fountain adding that serene touch. In gratitude!
Awesome studio in the La Mesa area. We would highly recommend this studio for your stay in the area. Convenient to downtown La Mesa and freeways. Only minutes from downtown San Diego. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to the San Diego area.
I can't imagine a more comfortable vacation home away from home. There is a great deal of comfort in this charming space. My husband and I had everything we needed and particularly enjoyed the nighttime city views. We will look forward to another stay in the future.
Our landscape is hilly with twinkling night lights and great sun set views. You can see the lights of Tijuana to the south, some 30 miles away. Inland locations like La Mesa offer more sunshine during the cool months than do the coastal communities.
