My husband and I own this house with another couple. All four of us had long careers in education or criminal justice, and two of us are lawyers. We are also parents of both young and grown children, and dog owners.
Djuna Perkins purchased this cottage in 2010
Living in Boston, I missed the country I grew up in, and wanted to be able to recapture the country girl by having a foothold in the Berkshires. For my husband, it was the cultural attractions of the area. And for our kids, it was the lake and the wildlife!
We saw this house in the spring of 2009 and saw its great potential. At the time, the house was a one bedroom 600 square foot cottage, but it was on a beautiful, quiet piece of property with a lake and stream on two acres. We knew it could be paradise, and so we renovated it to add a second floor and take full advantage of the beauty of the land.
Djuna has a clean, welcoming home. It was spacious and had the necessary equipment for my weekend trip with 3 other people. I wish the heat was controllable by the us and not the owner. Besides that the communication between Djuna was minimal. Once in contact with her, she was flexible and nice. I'd consider returning back to the property in the summer. Thanks for renting out your space!
Great spot to see the lake and relax! Beautiful scenery and very convenient. Beds are comfy, kitchen is nicely stocked with supplies. Thank you Djuana!
This house in Sherwood Forest was just what we wanted. It is situated next to a small lake in a private, woodland community. The area is full of trees which were all the most wonderful autumn colours. There are many walks around the area, through the forest and around another much larger lake, which was stunning with the reflection of the autumn trees. The house was well equipped and the beds were incredibly comfortable - better than ours back home! There's a great fire pit by the lake and plenty of outdoor seating. There are also a couple of row boats, so we enjoyed an evening row around the lake - beautiful. There is much to explore in the surrounding area - though some of the attractions close from mid October until spring. Would highly recommend!
Had a great weekend here. The instructions to get there and get in were perfect and easy to follow. Very private and quiet here. The kayak and canoe were a good touch, paddling around the pond was lots of fun. Would go back in an instant and recommend this to anyone looking to get away.
Great location with one exception, even with a good GPS if you leave the house at night, you may have difficulty finding it. On many levels, it was also the appeal of the place.
The house itself everything you need very nice layout and very clean. The lake is clean and if it was a bit warmer, I would have loved to go swimming.
Stores and restaurants are close enough and in the right season, Jacob's Pillow is less than ten miles away.
Would love to go back for a longer stay.
Ms Perkins gave very good directions to the house and check in was a breeze.
We have been to this area before and one of my favorite restaurants is a Peruvian restaurant called Alpamayo in Lee.
We had a beautiful, peaceful time at Djuna's place. It is so quiet, not even the sound of cars going by. Just a nice pond for swimming, a big yard, and a comfortable house. Like others have said, this is a peaceful refuge in nature . . . not a luxury rental. Djuna is easy to work with and very responsive if you need help. Her place was perfect for unwinding, and it's near Jacob's Pillow and the Lee outlets. Overall, just the pretty, serene week we were hoping for. Thanks, Djuna!
