About Dean

We've lived in Estes Park for 20 years and love it! We've both worked on behalf of Rocky Mountain National Park and believe it to be a very special place.

Dean purchased this house in 2004

Why Dean chose Rocky Mountain National Park

Estes Park is a great vacation destination - for the stunning scenery and hiking found in Rocky Mountain National Park, as well as for the unique experience of the town of Estes Park, where families enjoy the unique shops, restaurants and area attractions.

What makes this house unique

Wildlife, views and more wildlife! Elk, deer, bobcat, coyote and bear frequent the area. Enjoy all of this while relaxing in the hot tub on the private patio. At the Silver Tree House, you are minutes away from Rocky Mountain National Park, as well as the town of Estes Park.

Wonderful place for a large family

  • 5 of 5

Our experience has been great. The place is spacious with 3 levels allowing two families to both hang out together and yet have some quiet down time in the second living room in the basement. Everything worked including the wonderful hottub to soothe aches and pains after a day spent hiking. The kitchen is well equipped and the owner lives not far away should you need help with anything. We cooked 3 meals a day, indoors and outdoors and did not feel the kitchen missed anything important, it was all there for us to use. Location is wonderful, allowing quick access to RMNP including the Wild Basin and Longs Peak trails, actually the location is about as good as it gets in Estes Park and the neighborhood is small and quiet with wonderful star gazing at night. The kids loved the elks that would hang out in the back yard as well as the "mini" mountain for them to explore. We will be back.

Striking Silver in Estes Park

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Silver Tree House was just delightful. It is a very spacious home and we filled it with two families. There was enough room for everyone to find a quiet nook if wanted, or have a big family dinner and watch the Pittsburgh Penguins win the Stanley Cup! There are two porches on the house and and two gas grills for entertaining. We enjoyed breakfasting on the rear patio while watching the wildlife; elk, birds, squirrels and rabbits. Close proximity to both Estes Park and RMNP will please both the outdoor enthusiasts and the shoppers. There are lots of restaurants within a 10 to 15 minute drive. Everything is geared around relaxation and comfort at Silver Tree House. Our Rocky Mountain home away from home was just right.

Laid Back

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in the middle of March with a group of 7 adults and 2 dogs and it was so easy and convenient. Everything was clean and ready and the pictures really do not do this place justice. We were able to grill out both nights and use the hot tub for one and really the only complaint I could find was that the cutting knives weren't that sharp... which is pretty silly in itself considering they literally had everything we would've needed along with things we never knew we needed. They left folded towels on each bed with chocolate which added an extra special touch. The house is far enough out of town that you get a ton of privacy yet close enough in just in case you need a quick run to the grocery store. We had a few deer roam by and stare at us in the early mornings and half of our group took a convenient hike to the top of the mountain in the back yard. I highly recommend this place and I hope we can get our group together and do it again in the future. Thank you Dean!

Fabulous Week

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful Thanksgiving week at Silver Tree! This home is perfect for a group or multiple families! Each floor has bedrooms and bathrooms that truly give you privacy. Dean was excellent at responding and was available to answer questions. This home is conveniently located to town and RMNP but still offers privacy. The master suite and bath were wonderful! We enjoyed watching elk and deer daily from the big, beautiful living room windows. I have rented multiple homes in the Estes Park area and this is one of my favorite! I look forward to renting this house again in the future! I can't say enough good things about the home and the helpfulness of the owner!

Log cabin home

  • 5 of 5

My family of six adults and one baby and the family dog just spent a delightful 5 nights here. The accommodations were fantastic, enough bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, and dishes. Loved the views out the windows. The hot tub was appreciated at the end of a day of hiking. Hope to come back and stay here again.

Spacious pet friendly home close to Estes with great owner!

  • 4 of 5

Pros: Owner Dean M is very responsive. He answers emails quickly and was endlessly patient with my husband and son when they couldn't figure out the Dish TV settings. Also was on the spot when a propane tank outside needed attention. Stopped in twice to check the hot tub and flip a breaker so the kitchen outlets would work. Beautiful setting near Estes Park (3 min drive) with sightings of deer and elk. You could walk in but the road is quite busy with a very narrow and almost nonexistent apron at times. Home is very spacious with separate areas for us all to spread out. My son and his family occupied the lower area and had their privacy with a TV, bath and bedrooms. My daughter had one of the main floor bedrooms. My hubby and I had the upstairs master suite. All of us including the dogs and our grandson enjoyed the beautiful barbq and hot tub area with lots of chairs and a deck. We used the barbq for all of our dinners we ate at the home, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Refrigerator was spacious and ice maker worked great. New dishwasher which worked well, electric stove and micro which both worked fine. Plenty of towels & hot water. Lots of fans which we made good use of to cool off at night. The couch and chairs on the main level were very comfy (hubby took a nap there one afternoon). Also couch in basement son slept on when baby was having a rough night. Loved having the washer dryer there which daughter used. King size beds in master suite and basement were much appreciated. Wifi works but could be very slow at times. Cons: Upstairs area is open to the main floor below; so you will hear everything from the main level and you have to be a little careful when dressing as the doors are glass. I compensated by using a fan for white noise and also earplugs and getting dressed in the bathroom area. St Mary's Lake Road is pretty busy, so you do hear traffic noise, and again this didn't bother us if we used fans and earplugs. Kitchen has plenty of dishes and pans, but is not well organized (cabinets there and in bathrooms/bedrooms need to be wiped out and reorganized). Some other minor cleaning & maintenance issues which I related to the owner. Also would have been helpful to have a "book" which listed instructions for the TV, where the high chair was located, etc. Would have liked to have a working flashlight and lighter, more Kleenex, , bar or liquid soap for the showers. Overall we had a great time and we would return again!
