Family Fun Get Together

  • 4 of 5

The location of this place is great - it's on a private lake, so even on the weekends there was no noisy boats on the lake. My family and I had a great visit and such wonderful fun being together and being there. The owner was delightful, helpful and easy to work with. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed and the open floor plan allowed us to be together, yet not in each other's way, even when meals were being prepared. Nice design!

I must also comment on VRBO. And my comments are about their policies which the owners have no control over, so please see the above information on the property and owner. VRBO has new policies and HUGE fees, one of which doesn't surface till you are ready to sign. It felt like they were hiding them. I find they have changed and will NOT use VRBO again.

Clean, cozy lake front with well stocked kitchen

  • 5 of 5

Open floor plan, deck, and beach creates a good atmosphere for a good time. Clean with plenty bedding and towels. Everything was in good working order and well maintained. Owners are quick to response to any question which was very much appreciated. One small thing: Consider bringing water to drink, for cooking and coffee if your not used to well water with a sulfur smell.

Good family stay with some drawbacks

  • 3 of 5

We had a family stay here (3 couples, 5 kids 5 or under) over Thanksgiving that mostly went pretty well. The rooms were comfortable, technology worked for the most part and kitchen had just about everything we needed. The main downside for us was that the master bedroom upstairs had a large cutout in the wall so the sound traveled up from the living room. This made it challenging for the adults downstairs to enjoy ourselves at night without worrying we'd wake up the kiddos (which we did several times). The other downside for us was that the water in the house is VERY hard well water. With each shower, or extended time spent washing dishes, the stinky sulfuric smell from the water was pretty overpowering. If these are not things that bother you, I'm sure you'll have a great visit but ours was just OK for those reasons.

Owner's Response: We must apologize for the water smell. After you had checked out, the cleaners mentioned this same issue. We discovered that the water softener had seized up. We replaced it right away. We do wish that you had mentioned this issue during your stay, and we could have rectified it right away. We hope that you consider giving us another chance. We are sure that you'll find the water much nicer. Thank you for choosing our home!! -Mike & Tia

Lovely spot

  • 4 of 5

I had a lovely stay with my 2 kids and their spouses. Tia was an incredible hostess. Taking care of all our needs. The lake was lovely and kayaking with the swans was a treat. A nice kitchen.

Summer Vacation Spot

  • 3 of 5

The master bedroom has a very nice view of the lake especially at night with the lights on it. All the bedrooms were spacious. The open interior worked well for our two families traveling together. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed during our stay. The owners, Mike and Tia were very good to work with and understanding when there was a delay with the payment due to the mail system. The lake was very low due to the drought conditions this summer and contributed to the weeds and muck that deterred swimming. Rented the pontoon boat for a day out of the lake which was great! The owners had added sand to the beach right before we arrived to cover the muddy spots on the beach. The second or downstairs bathroom was small and only had a stand up shower in it. The upstairs bathroom was very spacious with a whirlpool tub. The accommodations were very nice but I didn't see any notation of the sulfur water prior to arrival, which is we gave it a lower rating. We experienced no water pressure issues. Traveled to a northern town of Frankenmuth for two days as there were so many wonderful things to do there. Thank you for sharing your house with us and would stay again if in the area!

Owner's Response: We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. We wish that we had known about the water issue earlier. It was only after our cleaner noticed the issues, quite some time later, that we realized that the softener had quit working altogether. We assume that it was on it's way out during your stay, but actually quit working much later. We did replace it with a new one. Also, you are absolutely correct about the lower bathroom. It was functional, but small. We decided to add an addition to the house to double the size of that bathroom. Stay with us again, and we're sure that you'll like the lower bath as much, if not more, than the upper bathroom. Thank you for choosing our home, -Mike & Tia

Family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the house for few days and everything was wonderful, except the whether. We could not enjoy the lake and the outdoor deck, but it gave us the opportunity to take advantage of the beautiful house. Tia provided us all the information needed and always very fast. She gave as a very worm welcome and a good bottle of wine. The house was very clean and well maintained, the beds comfortable and a lot of space.

Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful house.

Zahan family.
