About Monica Jacobi

Monica and Marc Jacobi met in college in the 70's, and found out they had a lot in common. Their dreams included family, keeping close friendships, travel, cooking, and some day living in the country. Just a small place, with a swing. And after raising 4 children, and all of their other teenage friends, it finally happened. It took us 3 years to find our special place, but we found it...360 acres nestled in the Texas Hill Country. Wild Life, Fruit Trees, River, guests, family memories, treasures abound, the utter peace and quiet, the beauty, it is truly a blessing. We just had to figure out how to pay for it!!

Monica Jacobi purchased this house in 1998

Why Monica Jacobi chose Fredericksburg

That was easy, we love to travel, we have lots of friends near and far, we have 4 children, all we have ever done is feed everyone, entertain, and everyone loves to visit the Hill Country. We had these cute little houses on the land, that had been built at various times since the 1920's, and owning and running B&B's seemed very logical to Monica. Marc on the other hand had to be convinced.

What makes this house unique

This property is located right in the middle of the 290 wine trails. It is just outside one of the cutest little German towns in Texas with shops and great restaurants. Among the Pecans is located on a 360 acre working ranch with a game barn that has a ping pong table and horseshoes. There is picnicking or fishing at the river which is about 1/2 a mile stroll. There is abundant wildlife to capture, along with horses and cows. The best part about this property is you can just sit on the front porch overlooking the hill country and rock away your cares.

Very nice property.

We stayed here for a multi generation girls' weekend. My grandmother has difficulty getting around and was able to enjoy the weekend without any worries. Couldn't have asked for a better welcome, fresh baked cinnamon rolls, biscuits and homemade jelly, and cookies were left for us upon arrival. Everything was very clean. The backyard patio area is fantastic! Would recommend to anyone looking to visit Fredericksburg but not wanting to stay in town.

Absolutely loved our stay here. Was the coziest little house. The back patio was so nice and we got to stay in the master suite that had it's own kitchen and entrance and fireplace in the bedroom. Was only like a 10 minute drive into town and we loved being outside the city. The homemade breakfast was to die for and I'm thinking I may need the recipe for those coffee blossoms!! We never got to use the hot tub which I regret. Wish we would have had more time there but there is always next time!

Great house, out in the country, 10 min to most popular wineries, 16 minutes to downtown

  • 4 of 5

Loved this country home. Fresh baked goods, with coffee eggs milk and juice were an extra treat. Master bedroom suite with mini-kitchen gave mom and dad a little separation from our adult children. Enjoyed the front porch views, especially the deer that would greet us during morning coffee. Interior of house was very clean, but porches and outdoor areas could have used a good sweeping and/or power wash. Spas didn't seem to be fully functionable, but we enjoyed never the less. Loved the fire pit. Would recommend for those that love the country setting: quiet and secuded but so close to vineyards. We can't wait to return.

Owner's Response: I am so glad you liked our little house and its amenities and that you enjoyed your stay. In the spring and fall we have difficulties with keeping the porches cleaned because of the Pecan trees. In the spring they leave those little blossom fuzzy things all over, and in the fall we deal with all of those beautiful leaves. I believe it was raining before you arrived and made it impossible to clean. I hope you will come again. If not have a great day.

Relaxing home with GREAT tubs!

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of girls here for a weekend in February... we did not want to leave. The weather was very chilly outside but the 2 gas fireplaces were very easy to use and warmed the house quickly. The bath tubs are so great! We went to Crossroads Friday night and had a great time dancing and then drove the short distance to several wineries Saturday. (The Vintage is the only Winery with beer (Guns & Oil was my preference there)and I definitely recommend it, it is in a small parking lot with 2 other wineries so there is something for everyone) We then drove into town to Fredericksburg Brewery on the main strip because we were all ready for a beer. The beer area in the back of the brewery was so much fun and had a very authentic German feel. We talked and laughed for hours.

Saturday evening we had the best Uber experience... The trip to town was about $18 for 6 of us (they will cram in as many people as you have since there is not an UberXL) Stephanie helped us decide where to have dinner. We were wanting sushi and she waited in the car with us to make sure we could get a table... the wait was several hours so she drove us around for no extra cost to each restaurant until we decided on Hondo's. She really became a friend. :) At Hondo's the food was great and they had a fun happy upbeat polka band playing live music (best grilled chicken sandwich I have had). We then walked right across the street back to Crossroads (pretty much the only nightlife, but all you need) They had a disco cover band playing and man oh man did we have a blast dancing! Then we had Troyce & Layla(her Yorkie) our Uber driver take us home she was great. By this point it was almost 2 am and they still had 3 Uber drivers in the area. We enjoyed the hot tub and did not want to leave our warm cozy house Sunday morning. I was in contact prior to our visit with the owner and she was great to work with and even had fresh biscuits, muffins and jelly for us. Overall we had a great stay and would love to come back when the weather is nice and we can enjoy the outdoors.

Great Family Gathering

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd stay at this property. We gathered our adult children and had Christmas. This place is great.. Kitchen is fully equipped with anything we could have possibly needed. The biscuits and banana bread were lovely.. Loved the snacks... What I appreciate the most is the 3 bedrooms with the whirlpool tubs.. everyone has their own space, yet plenty of room to gather as a family.
