Our Maui home features 2 bedrooms, each with its own bath. 22' FLATSCREEN TV WITH DVD PLAYER IN THE MASTER BEDROOM! There is also a dining room, living room, fully-supplied kitchen, and a lanai with breathtaking views of the ocean directly in front of the unit. It is equipped with a king sized bed in the master bedroom, two twins in the front bedroom, and the couch makes into a queen sized bed. There is a large flatscreen television, VCR, DVD player, Air-Conditioning, Ice Maker, cooking utensils, Dishwasher, Washer and Dryer micro-wave, blender, automatic coffee maker and much more. All linens and towels are provided. There are even beach towels for your use. Smoking is not allowed in the unit or the lanai!
On the grounds there is a heated pool, bar-b-ques, plenty of lounge chairs and miles of sandy beach to walk on, with a wildlife refuge opposite the water. It is very private and secluded, no traffic noise like Kehei rentals. Palm trees and tropical plants abound on the property. Activities include: Swimming, snorkeling, surfing, boogie boarding, whale watching, shopping, dining, sightseeing, ocean activities, miniature golf, several world class golf courses, windsurfing, parasailing, hiking and much more.

Lee and Barbara DeVore, along with three other families, purchased this beautiful condo in Maui as a vacation home. When it is not in use by one of the families, we open our home in paradise to guests. It has brought us many years of joy and relaxation.

We looked at several locations throughout Maui, and chose Maalaea because it is centrally located, has spectacular views, and has miles of sandy beach for walking, snorkeling, surfing, boogie boarding, and swimming.
We immensely enjoyed our stay at 420 Kanai' A Nalu. The view is as awesome as indicated by the pictures and described by others. The unit is well kept. The beds are comfortable; the kitchen came well stocked with appliances, utensils, cookware and glassware; the fridge is fairly new;the internet was fine; and the washer/dryer provided us with clean laundry as needed.
Furthermore, parking is convenient, the pool and grounds are in great shape and a pleasant place for relaxing. The bbq grills are top of the line and we loved walking the long beach in the mornings. There were some minor maintenance issues (both the front and patio screen doors needed to be replaced but still functioned adequately plus a few other minor items), but hey, this isn’t supposed to be the Ritz.
Barbara was very attentive to our communications/questions and arranged for us to stash our luggage for several hours our first day as we came in on an early flight. It would have been nicer to have central air as some days were a bit warm and the old window unit wasn’t up to the task, but the trade winds blow most of the day and all night which for the most part made the temperature inside tolerable. A plus was the various “toys” in the guest bedroom closet plus the various usable foodstuffs left by prior renters. We did likewise; leaving behind unused paper products for the kitchen/bathrooms and a good ice chest.
This was our third visit to this condo unit and this time we stayed for eleven nights. We stayed here for a week just this last November. Our November review, titled "Shut Up and Take My Money", is shown below. Everything in our earlier review still stands. Fantastic!
If you are looking for a truly quiet and restful location, I am convinced that this part of the island is one of the best kept secrets on Maui. We have been here in September, November and now August. Each time, regardless of how busy the rest of the island was, it was always quiet at this location. Many days we literally had large portions the beach all to ourselves.
As always, Barbara and Lee were great to work with and, once again, we look forward to returning soon.
We spent 2 beautiful weeks again in this beautiful condo. . .the best part of this unit is the location and excellent customer service from Michelle and Barbara. . . be back again God willing.
The first, and only, time we had been to Maui prior to this trip was in September of 2001, right after 9 / 11. The island was almost empty of tourists and it seemed that we had Maui almost all to ourselves. During that first visit, we stayed at Lee and Barbara's wonderful condo and it was fantastic. When we returned for this trip, we decided to stay in this same condo unit again.
I must say that during this trip the island was quite busy when compared to our previous visit. However, the condo and its surrounding area was just as quiet as it was during our 2001 stay. What a great and relaxing location this is. It can be windy in the Malaga Bay area but, unlike most beachfront locations, the wind doesn't come off of the ocean, it generally comes from the land side. This allowed us to keep the condo cool without having to use the air conditioning and also enjoy the grounds, pool and the beach which were nicely protected from the wind. Although it was windy during our stay, the wind was never an issue for us. It is great having a swimmable beach right out your front door as well as having a long, beautiful white sandy beach for walking. Most days we did not even leave the area because all of the outdoor beach / water activities we wanted were readily available to us. In addition, the view from the lanai is spectacular.
We planned this trip with some dear friends from Southern California and they also stayed in the same condo facility. We were both in top floor, beachfront, outside corner units which are probably, as far as location goes, the best two condos in the complex. Both were outfitted nicely and provide great privacy. The main difference is the cost. This unit was a far better value than the Unit our friends stayed in. This condo is a great bargain - Not just when comparing it with other units in the complex, but even to other comparable condos on the island. The owners are terrific to work with and very responsive to questions and inquiries.
We are now planning a return visit to this condo and this time it will hopefully be within 14 months rather than 14 years.
We were a family of 5 with 3 -20 something kids. This condo was in a great location, far enough off the beaten track so it is quiet and still within walking distance to a few shops/eats. Really nice layout for a family and the view is fantastic! Endless walks on the beach right in front of the condo and really liked that the area was private. Would recommend it to anyone! The owners are great to work with as well!
We've stayed at Kana'i A Nalu several times (we visit Maui every April) and have enjoyed staying in different units. However, this one has THE VERY BEST VIEW, PRIVACY, and NOISE LEVEL out of ALL of them! It's a top floor, ocean front (absolutely nothing but a beachfront view out of the window) and at the corner of the building AWAY from the pool- which means totally quiet except for the crashing waves! It has ever amenity that you could want- beach chairs, boogie boards, sand toys, etc. Also- I really appreciated that the owners leave leftover (shelf stable) food items from previous tenants (olive oil, vinegar, condiments, rice, flour, sugar, etc.) Every other condo that we've stayed at in this building DOES NOT do this. It was a huge help to have these food items handy. We traveled with our baby and rented all baby items from http://www.akamaimothers.com/ . They deliver & pick-up the baby items! Our pack-n-play, booster seat and beach cabana were waiting at the front door upon our arrival!
Condo sits on one street of condos with restaurants, shops, Aquarium, just a walk down the street from the complex. We are about 6 miles from the Kahului airport and between 17-19 miles from Kaanapali Beach. Our condo is directly facing the Ocean with an awesome view! Sit on the lanai and you could throw a rock and hit the ocean!
