Gil and Jackie have a beautiful property. The pool/garden area is stunning. The Casita is everything you need and want with spanish tile, a very comfortable bed and wallmount plazma TV. The outdoor kitchen is well stocked and really fun for making breakfast and enjoying a drink or your own meal in the evening. The W resort is a short walk and a nice added amenity. I usually rent a whole house without any proprietor present as I really enjoy privacy on a trip.... However, Jackie and Gil were such gracious additions to our trip that it was delightful to see them the few times that we did. Gil gave us lemons from his tree and they both took the time to answer our questions and to point us in the right direction. Finally, the island of Vieques is not to be missed. We have been all over the world- Tropical islands are our thing. Vieques was up toward the top for its natural, lush hilly landscape and white sand beaches. Book this Casita. Great Value.
We were met by Jackie at the airport & taken to our casita. She was extremely informative and helpful on our arrival. The outside kitchen, bar, pool and garden exceeded our expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed the vacation and the island. Thanks Jackie for your warm hospitality and attention to detail. We look forward to a return visit in the not so distant future. If you are looking for a quiet luxurious vacation then this is definitely the place to stay. Thanks again ! Steve & Sarah
I just got back from Vieques yesterday, and had a lovely time staying in this Casita. The owners were not home but Joeanna was extremely helpful and very lovely! She was gracious enough to pick me up and return me to the airport. She also pointed out places to eat and where to get my groceries. The casita is a perfect size for sleeping, ample closet and drawer space, nice bathroom and plenty of clean towels and toiletries. Outdoor kitchen was nice to have so I didn't have to go out to eat all the time. The salt water pool was clean and very relaxing to hang out at, and the beach (very private!) was literally across the street. The only thing I'd say is the wifi is not that great (for those of you who need to be connected all the time) but I didn't care because I was there to RELAX and have vacation!!! I would definitely stay there again!!!
Just returned from 5 nights. A lovely, quiet island.
The Villa was everything we could have needed and wanted. Lovely hosts. There was never a need for anything. As is mentioned in other reviews, the amenities of having coolers, kayaks, beach chairs and umbrellas is surely a plus and the equipment is well kept up.
There are so many great reviews of this villa and believe me, it is all true.
I am a resort GM and it takes a lot to give a five star review! But this villa earned the rating!
Jackie & Gil were wonderful hosts, including meeting us at the airport and giving us a great tour of the places to go on the island. The property is stunning and very comfortable, we felt at home as soon as we arrived. The villa has all you need, and the outdoor kitchen is a wonderful place to start & end your day. I had high expectations and was not disappointed. We will definitely be back!!
The wife and I spent over a week on this property for our 30th anniversary. We are the adventurous type but we also like a little luxury nearby if wanted throughout the course of our days. The property is on the grounds of the W resort which is immaculately kept. We used the Cafe, the bar and attended the Taste of the Caribbean event one night. The cafe has great coffee and a great simple breakfast and pastries. It also has wine, beer and touristy concessions.
The owners were on vacation when we arrived but arranged for their housekeeper to pick us up at the airport. She was awesome! Once the owners did arrive, we would see them occasionally, but they were by no means intrusive to our privacy. We did end up spending some time with them, and found them to be very easy to hangout with. As it turns out they enjoy a somewhat celebrity status on the island. Almost every local we talked to knew, or knew of them.
Instead of repeating the other reviews, I would totally agree with all of the positive comments. One thing I would add is that the beach that is accessible from the property (maybe 100 yards) was our own private and beautiful beach all week until the island filled up with people attending the Taste of the Caribbean event. You can sit there all day long doing whatever you want to do, while enjoying views of Culebra and PR of in the distance. The deck area has lush tropical foliage and between plants you have a vantage point of looking north over the island where you can see PR, Culebra, the town of Isabel II, the ferry that goes between the islands, and Cayo Blanco, a small spit of an island about 2 miles off shore. The pool can be described as the cleanest on the island.
We got a car at maritza's (Kia Soul w/ 4000 miles on it) for about $450 for 8-days including gas. We explored the entire island, went Fly Fishing, snorkeling, hiking, sailing, bar hopping, bio-luminescent bay kayaking, kayaking on our private beach, and were able to stay busy almost every day all day. The property is in a great centralized location for exploring the entire island, yet is in a very private and secure setting.
We had a little snafu with our internet connection upon arrival, that eventually was solved, but was a blessing in disguise. Dealing with email on vacation is anti-vacation in my opinion.
All-in-all I would recommend this place to anyone. And the hosts I would now consider friends (can I get a discount next time?). Thank you Jackie and Gil!
