This quaint prairie style house with its 42 foot covered porch is located down a winding tree lined street 500 feet from the public beach on Lake Michigan. There are no bluffs right here. You can sit on the beach and see miles of sandy beach and bluffs as if you were in the Caribbean.
You can also walk for miles on the sandy beach and enjoy the different shades of turquoise and blue of the lapping waters. Some days you can enjoy the frothing of the rolling waves and great tubing. The house is set on one partially wooded acre. It is a quiet neighborhood of one acre lots with very little street traffic. Great for a peaceful retreat. It is a great relaxing time, starting with breakfast on the porch, to lazing in the hammock with a good book, and then watching the sunsets followed by a bonfire with somores. Lots of swimming during the day gives you a great rest at night with lots of stars visable.
Come sleep in the new organic queen size bed with all cotton sheets and down pillows for the best dreams. This house is all 'green, environmentally sustainable, and healthy'. It is a great feeling. As well, it is all on one level with wide door ways to accomodate the handicap.
While you are sitting at the dining room table or on the big porch you can view Lake Michigan and hear the waves. Air conditioning is not needed with the lovely off shore breeze. Lovely gardens adorn the house and veggies and flowers are free for picking.
This is an artist's home during the winter so the amenities are her personal style; serene and peaceful. A large library of books and board games are here to enjoy.
It is five miles to Arcadia, Bear Lake, or Onekama for supplies, restaurants, festivals, music.
It is 17 miles to Frankfort and Manistee with quaint shops and museums, lighthouses and piers.
Crystal Mountain Ski Resort and Interlochen Arts Academy are both close by for concerts, theater, fine dining. There are many small golf courses and of course the biggee - Arcadia Bluffs also with fine & causal dining.
All the Breakfast makings await your arrival. Come and enjoy! No need to bring anything but food, clothes and beach towels. All the condiments are well stocked. There are eggs, butter, milk coffee and cereal to start your first morning.

I am a retired Waldorf teacher now Painting Therapist and fiber artist. I have added real estate agent to my career path and would be happy to show you homes or cottages for sale while you are here. Carolyn Kraw purchased this house in 2005
Pierport is an incredible neighborhood and beach. It is like a hidden secret of a place. Organic fruits, vegetables, milk, eggs, and meat are all available from local farmers. In Fall the color of the leaves is so beautiful. In Winter the snows apes are quiet and still and the house is all cozy at you look out at the wonderful white. The back hill is great for snowshoeing and cross country skiing. There are miles of fields and forrest to ski through. Crystal Mt. Ski Resort is 40 minutes away.
It is a great place to walk in nature. The deer almost eat out of your hand. Bird feeders attrack many varieties of song birds and perching birds. There are no city lights or traffic noise.
We enjoyed the sleeping Bear Dune climb, shopping in Traverse, relaxing on the beach and enjoying the quaint small towns. We loved campfires and smores, and sleeping in the hammock! Thanks for letting us use your home!! We had fun!
We had a lovely time at Carolyn's home. Especially enjoyed eating meals on the porch. The house was roomy for two. The traffic was busy on the weekend and evenings. Loved cooking with gas and the available herbs in the garden! Internet was slow and capped if you are attached to watching movies or need internet. No cell service so definitely an escape from the usual routine!
This is a lovely cottage; special touches like the antique school bell on vintage back door, small wooden cone lights over the kitchen bar, beautiful clerestory windows in the main living space made it a very charming place to stay. The light, shadows, weather visible from these windows made for a wonderful place to relax and read. We enjoyed spending time in the back yard near the fern lined forest near some of Carolyn's many flower gardens.
Comfortable and attractive accommodations. Lovely gardened landscaping. We enjoyed a wonderful week, walking a short distance to the beach on Lake Michigan, buying fresh fruit from the farm stand, visiting Traverse City and Good Harbor Winery. Caroline was a wonderful hostess, greeting us when we arrived and making sure we had everything we needed.
Very clean with all amenities included. The property is a short walk to a small, public beach. The linens and kitchen items were all included and very clean. Maps and comments from other guests showed local attractions and places to visit. We drove to other areas - Frandfort, Traverse City - so the location was not perfect but centrally located to many attractions.
The owner provided great service - calling a few times and leaving good instructions.
I would recomend the property if you are looking for a nice place to stay away from the noises of the more cengested areas. We are likely to return.
This cottage was the perfect get-away for me and my wife, which was within view of Lake Michigan. The nearby artesian well was a bonus. We enjoyed the peaceful environment, and yet mountain biking, the Chrystal Mountain Resort, and excellent dining options were within a short drive.
Being very fond of the Arcadia area, I selected this home based on its proximity to golf courses and day trips to other points of interest on the leelanau peninsula. The house is darling! Steps from a beach, lovely sunsets from the wraparound porch, yet still located just off M22. Many golf courses within 15-20 minutes. So peaceful and quiet when we stayed in.
It is beautiful in the fall with all the colors along M22 and here in Pierport. Come enjoy the lovely briskness of air in the golden sun. Stroll the beach all calm and quiet now as the sunbathers are gone. Enjoy the rolling waves with their frothy edges. Become a genuine "leaf peeper" by touring the colorful trees now!
