About Anita

As residents in the area, we enjoy the change of seasons that the mountains have to offer and all of the activities that are offered. The low-key lifestyle is a plus in the Moreno Valley.

Anita purchased this lodge in 2007

Why Anita chose New Mexico

We have always wanted to live in the mountains and this is the perfect area for beautiful mountain and wildlife viewing. It is also perfect for lake and stream fishing as well as hunting elk, deer and even turkey. Also, being avid hikers and skiers we are surrounded by tons of hiking trails and close to three ski areas - Angel Fire, Red River and Taos ski resorts and of course the golf courses at Angel Fire and Taos are great.

What makes this lodge unique

We chose this house because of its unique and long history as a hunting mountain lodge; you can gaze at the spectacular views that are unparalleled. Just stepping onto the grounds you will begin to realize that you are as close as you can get to natural majestic beauty. Visitors have said it is the closest place they have been to "heaven on earth."

Wonderful place! Will stay here again.

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place and will definitely stay here again. There was plenty of room for the nine of us (all adults). It was very nice, clean and well kept with everything we needed. The property managers, Julie and Jay, were right there whenever we had questions about our stay or the surrounding area. It was a pleasure to work with Anita, the owner, while planning our trip. If you love the peace and quiet yet want to be close to everything you will love it here.

Was so great the first time, We went back for seconds!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time around and we had just as much fun as we did the first time. To our surprise the cabin had a little make over, there was now an extra bathroom space and upstairs now had a king size bed along with two twin beds and still plenty of room to keep out of each others way. Every room has plenty windows to show off all the beautiful scenery, mountains everywhere you look. The location is excellent, minutes away from downtown Eagles Nest, Angel Fire, Red River and Toas, just to mention a few places we visited. Fishing, hiking, horseback riding, keep the kids entertained and for some of us older folks just sitting outside on the rocking chairs enjoying the fresh air and watching the hummingbirds was the best! We had just lost five family members this past year, a Father a Brother and two uncles and a Mother-n-Law, so this retreat was a welcome relief from the daily stresses of life. There is something about the beauty of nature that helps you realize that life goes on!

Little Slice of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

We could not have asked for a better place to stay during our ski vacation. Our group of 8 (six adults and two children) had plenty of room. The cabin is cozy, yet spacious, We felt right at home from the moment we walked in the door. We basically had everything we needed right at our finger tips and for those things we missed, there was a convenient country store just down the road. The mud room gave us the space to bring our ski gear in from the cold each night. Thanks to the on-site laundry, I returned home with almost no dirty laundry!

Jay and Julie were wonderful hosts and made sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The property owners, Anita and Curtis, were qually as wonderful and always prompt in getting back with us.

My one an donly suggestion is that anyone who rents this LOVELY cabin bring a humidifier or two! The heat generated by the gas stove paired with the arridmountain air resulted in some serious dryness throughout the body!

Thank you so much for a wonderful and memorable vacation. We will be back next year!

Truly A Home Away From Home, Lots of room and space for everyones privacy, and at the same time very cozy, Located blocks away from Eagels Nest, and short drive away from Angel Fire, Taos, Red River. Property Managers were very friendly and helpful, just a phone call away and ready to answer any questions you might have, such as WI-FI key codes for computor lap tops. We went in June so the weather was great for near by horse back riding, fishing or hiking in the many near by state parks.Plenty of restaurants to choose from but my favorite was in Cimmaron, at the Jessie James Historic hotel ! This was the third year in a row staying in Eagels Nest for vacation, and staying at the cabin just makes that much more enjoyable because you have all the comforts of home but with great scenery , Mountain views are spectacular, and all the fresh air can want, will make your vacation very relaxing. We had great time, Thanks the Whitson Famiily
