About Anita

As residents in the area, we enjoy the change of seasons that the mountains have to offer and all of the activities that are offered. The low-key lifestyle is a plus in the Moreno Valley.

Anita purchased this lodge in 2007

Why Anita chose Eagle Nest

We have always wanted to live in the mountains and this is the perfect area for beautiful mountain and wildlife viewing. It is also perfect for lake and stream fishing as well as hunting elk, deer and even turkey. Also, being avid hikers and skiers we are surrounded by tons of hiking trails and close to three ski areas - Angel Fire, Red River and Taos ski resorts and of course the golf courses at Angel Fire and Taos are great.

What makes this lodge unique

We chose this house because of its unique and long history as a hunting mountain lodge; you can gaze at the spectacular views that are unparalleled. Just stepping onto the grounds you will begin to realize that you are as close as you can get to natural majestic beauty. Visitors have said it is the closest place they have been to "heaven on earth."

Clean, comfortable, beautiful surroundings

  • 4 of 5

Good customer service. The house was comfortable, and met our family of nine needs. The home was fully furnished with a fully stocked kitchen of house hold items. This was especially helpful since we needed to prepare most of our meals - majority of businesses in Eagles Nest were closed at this time of year.

Beautiful area, great fishing, with towns within driving distances (Red River 20-25 minutes, Angel Fire 10 minutes, & Taos about 55 minutes away).

A pleasant experience overall.

Every year a group of about 10 of us gather for our annual snowboard trip. We find a new mountain in either New Mexico or Colorado. This year we stayed in the Four Toes Lodge.. As a group we were very pleased with the space provided and the true feel of home that this house had given us. The house was clean, we had very quick access to town and the mountain. We have stayed in many places that were smaller and higher priced so we were very happy to find this true gem hiding in Eagle Nest, New Mexico. Very large living space so our large group never felt cramped and also Anita and her husband were very kind people to deal with. If we needed anything they were just a phone call away and just around the corner ready to help us with any questions we had. Highly recommend this house and thank you for allowing our large group to stay in your home.

Christmas Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spend our Christmas vacation at the Four Toes Mountain Lodge, we had a great time, the stay at the cabin was great, almost like home. The cabin was very nice, clean, cozy and very functional. We will definitely do this again, but this time we'll take a summer trip. The owners are super good people, always there for your needs very attentive to their tenants.

Thank you Anita and Curtis

Wonderful place! Will stay here again.

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place and will definitely stay here again. There was plenty of room for the nine of us (all adults). It was very nice, clean and well kept with everything we needed. The property managers, Julie and Jay, were right there whenever we had questions about our stay or the surrounding area. It was a pleasure to work with Anita, the owner, while planning our trip. If you love the peace and quiet yet want to be close to everything you will love it here.

Was so great the first time, We went back for seconds!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time around and we had just as much fun as we did the first time. To our surprise the cabin had a little make over, there was now an extra bathroom space and upstairs now had a king size bed along with two twin beds and still plenty of room to keep out of each others way. Every room has plenty windows to show off all the beautiful scenery, mountains everywhere you look. The location is excellent, minutes away from downtown Eagles Nest, Angel Fire, Red River and Toas, just to mention a few places we visited. Fishing, hiking, horseback riding, keep the kids entertained and for some of us older folks just sitting outside on the rocking chairs enjoying the fresh air and watching the hummingbirds was the best! We had just lost five family members this past year, a Father a Brother and two uncles and a Mother-n-Law, so this retreat was a welcome relief from the daily stresses of life. There is something about the beauty of nature that helps you realize that life goes on!
