About the property

Studio, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

The yurt is situated on a hillside overlooking the gloriously huge Flathead Lake in Somers, MT. Somers is located on the north end of the lake, next to the open space on the North Shore of the National Wildlife Refuge.

Yurt living is not for everyone but if you enjoy luxury camping in a beautiful setting, this is the place to stay.

The lake is beautiful year around. Mysterious in winter, chilly and aloof in spring, colorful in the fall and irresistible in the summer. Bring your own canoe or kayak for paddling around the lake. The yurt is perfect for relaxing in before and after enjoying the many seasonal activities of your choice.

Breakfast is included. In the yurt is a small refrigerator to hold your beverages and snacks and a electric kettle for making coffee or tea. Other meals can be had at the numerous nearby restaurants in Somers, Lakeside, Bigfork and Kalispell.

The yurt is not handicapped accessible nor suitable for toddlers due to the steps leading up to the yurt and steep hillside. No smoking or open flames inside the yurt. There is a composting toilet inside yurt. Showers provided in the main house. Picnic table and fire pit at the waters edge, wood provided. Dock and lake front is shared with property owner and resident dogs.

Why Michele Neal chose Flathead Lake

I had a beautiful hillside above my home overlooking the lake and decided I wanted to put a yurt on the property to add sleeping area for my family and guests.

What makes this cottage unique

Besides the magnificent views of Flathead Lake year-around, you will be treated to the sight and sound of the resident eagles, swans, geese and the daily changes of the lake. Mysterious in winter, chilly and aloof in the spring, rich in color in the fall and irresistible in the summer.

The owner understood my needs and did everything she could to accomodate them.

My husband and I were visiting Montana from Sandpoint Idaho to run the Spartan Sprint. I had never run a Spartan Race before. I was a little bit nervous and had a lot to plan for nutrition wise and clothing. This particular property is set up as a bed and breakfast. The host went out of her way to prepare food for us that suited our unique nutritional needs. She also offered her luxurious shower to our muddy selves after the race even though we had already checked out. The yurt itself is very cozy and thoughtfully decorated and overlooks flathead lake. We were able to sit on the deck and enjoy this view listening to the birds while drinking our coffee. I highly recommend this property if you find yourself in the vicinity.

Lovely Holiday Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Michele's yurt was fantastic! Despite the December weather in Montana, we were quite cozy with the snuggly blankets and heaters she provided. The view is absolutely incredible - we loved waking up to see the geese and ducks on Flathead Lake. Through the whole booking, payment, and arrival process, Michele was very communicative and helpful.

We loved the space, and we'll certainly book this property again when we travel back to the Flathead!

Perfect addition to our Montana vacation!

  • 5 of 5

There were so many positive aspects to our stay in Michele's yurt, it's hard to know where to begin. I'll start with the yurt itself, which was spacious, clean and kept us warm during the 30-degree October nights. The shower, in Michele's basement, was easily accessible. Then there is the breathtaking view of Flathead Lake from the yurt's front porch, the perfect backdrop while sitting on Michele's outdoor furniture with a cup of coffee or enjoying one of her delicious breakfasts...no joke, we did some pretty cool stuff during a week in Montana, yet all my girlfriend and I could talk about was the mini breakfast burritos, berry french toast and homemade huckleberry juice made and delivered each morning by Michele. She was incredible. Extremely pleasant and hospitable, she offered hiking suggestions nearby, and ultimately put us in touch with a guy who, even though kayaking season was over, delivered us two boats within an hour of calling him for a totally reasonable price. It was absolutely the highlight of our trip. Overall, Michele's yurt is an incredible experience, and I'd urge anyone to spend a few nights there!

Amazing Views with a great breakfast!

  • 5 of 5

This is a one of a kind stay. Being from Kansas City we had never seen a yurt before. It is amazing. Sleeping with the windows open and hearing the waves crash on the shore was the best part. Michelle makes the most amazing breakfast. It was the highlight of staying here.

Wonderful stay on Flathead Lake!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing experience in the yurt on the lake! Breakfast was incredible home cooked food with fresh pressed/squeezed juices each morning. We felt like we had plenty of privacy but also access to the owner for any recommendations as needed. The location gave us great access to the entire north lake region. We visited Big Fork, Whitefish, Glacier National Park and Kalispell for day trips. The stay far exceeded our expectations and we would go back again!
