Somers Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Studio, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

The yurt is situated on a hillside overlooking the gloriously huge Flathead Lake in Somers, MT. Somers is located on the north end of the lake, next to the open space on the North Shore of the National Wildlife Refuge.

Yurt living is not for everyone but if you enjoy luxury camping in a beautiful setting, this is the place to stay.

The lake is beautiful year around. Mysterious in winter, chilly and aloof in spring, colorful in the fall and irresistible in the summer. Bring your own canoe or kayak for paddling around the lake. The yurt is perfect for relaxing in before and after enjoying the many seasonal activities of your choice.

Breakfast is included. In the yurt is a small refrigerator to hold your beverages and snacks and a electric kettle for making coffee or tea. Other meals can be had at the numerous nearby restaurants in Somers, Lakeside, Bigfork and Kalispell.

The yurt is not handicapped accessible nor suitable for toddlers due to the steps leading up to the yurt and steep hillside. No smoking or open flames inside the yurt. There is a composting toilet inside yurt. Showers provided in the main house. Picnic table and fire pit at the waters edge, wood provided. Dock and lake front is shared with property owner and resident dogs.

Why Michele Neal chose Flathead Lake

I had a beautiful hillside above my home overlooking the lake and decided I wanted to put a yurt on the property to add sleeping area for my family and guests.

What makes this cottage unique

Besides the magnificent views of Flathead Lake year-around, you will be treated to the sight and sound of the resident eagles, swans, geese and the daily changes of the lake. Mysterious in winter, chilly and aloof in the spring, rich in color in the fall and irresistible in the summer.

Amazing Views with a great breakfast!

  • 5 of 5

This is a one of a kind stay. Being from Kansas City we had never seen a yurt before. It is amazing. Sleeping with the windows open and hearing the waves crash on the shore was the best part. Michelle makes the most amazing breakfast. It was the highlight of staying here.

Wonderful stay on Flathead Lake!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing experience in the yurt on the lake! Breakfast was incredible home cooked food with fresh pressed/squeezed juices each morning. We felt like we had plenty of privacy but also access to the owner for any recommendations as needed. The location gave us great access to the entire north lake region. We visited Big Fork, Whitefish, Glacier National Park and Kalispell for day trips. The stay far exceeded our expectations and we would go back again!

Fantastic base for exploring the region

My spouse, 4-year old and I spent two nights at Michele's yurt and really had a wonderful time. The yurt is well appointed and very comfortable. Michele is a fabulous host and is very accommodating. We hope to return next summer!

One of the best stays ... Ever.

  • 5 of 5

It is hard to overstate how great our stay was at the yurt. First, Michelle is a wonderful host. She knows how to be helpful and also to respect your privacy. She even let us use her bear spray!

The yurt itself is very special. Michelle had decorated it carefully and had provided everything you might need: coffee, creamer, mini refrigerator, water, wash bins, etc. The bed is comfortable and the big window in front of it overlooks the lake. The deck outside is also grand. Lots of space and two bistro tables. It is a great place to have breakfast, which Michelle serves. And I am not exaggerating when I say that it will be the best breakfast you could find in a 100 mile radius. I generally find most breakfasts aren't worth the money because you can make it at home. Not her breakfasts. They are works of art.

Do yourself a favor and book the yurt (the bathroom and shower situations are perfectly fine). Or don't. That'll give us a chance to book it again!

Lovely! We will visit again!

  • 5 of 5

Great place to stay on Flathead Lake. We though the view was really wonderful, as well as the amazing breakfast that Michelle prepared each day. A lovely and comfortable place to stay, with lots of things to do in the nighboring towns when not on the lake. Michelle was very kind to accomodate our cousin and his girlfriend who were visitng from L.A. with their special requests and we greatly appreciated her going over the top for them. Thanks a bunch!
