Romantic Island Getaway: Dolphin House is located in a Gated Community in Curacao. On a hill with a 180 degree view of the Ocean.
Very Private, surrounded by island landscaping.
Your own Pool is located just steps from the living area. Back of the house is Glass sliding doors. Everything is open and a breeze is always blowing through.
I highly recommend Dolphin house if you want to stay at the Coral Estate. The house has fantastic views of the ocean. The patio is very private and quiet, and it's such a wonderful experience to wake up each morning, opening the doors, and enjoying the day by the pool.
The villa is super clean, and you have everything you need for your stay, nothing to worry about. We had a nice welcome from Ingrid, the property manager. It was very easy to organise our stay with Mrs Carr, the owner. She is a very nice person.
The location of Coral Estate is perfect to explore the island, close to the western beaches and the city. Driving is pretty easy in Curacao.
We can't wait to come back!
What can I add that other reviewers haven't already covered! This was our second visit back to Coral Estates in Curacao and Nancy Jo's house was just so terrific and very nicely priced. Very comfortable, well decorated and appointed, and the perfect location. Nancy Jo was super flexible and very quick to respond when we booked a last-minute trip and then decided to add an extra day. The pictures don't do the property justice - especially the beautiful tile work, the master bath, and the decorating.
The house has great Caribbean breezes blowing through and we were totally comfortable with just AC at night for sleeping. No problem with mosquitoes or bugs of any kind during our stay. The kitchen was well-equipped and we made several complete meals. Tons of DVDs and books available. I borrowed a fun crime novel for the beach, since I forgot to pack a book.
The pool and view are really the central feature. Lovely having morning coffee out on the patio and the pool was perfect for cooling off during that peak heat in the afternoons. We enjoyed going to the beaches and snorkeling in the morning, but would often spend our afternoons lounging by our private pool.
Even during the busy spring travel season, sitting outside you'd think you were the only travelers around. The house is very private with gardens and vegetation (a much earlier review mentioned privacy issues, but the gardens have filled in nicely and create total privacy), and the community is so peaceful and absolutely quiet. Perfect relaxation.
The location can't be beat. Karakter Beach Club & Restaurant is great and located inside the gated community. All the best natural western beaches are an easy drive - Daaibooi, Porto Marie, Cas Abou, and Lagun. The house is positioned on a cliffside with the best views on Curacao and the best cooling breezes.
We would highly recommend renting Dolphin House and have it bookmarked for our next trip to Curacao. I know we'll be back!
The photo you see is what you get. A fabulous pool and view of the sea. Doors to the kitchen and living room open totally, so it's like living with only 3 walls. Compelling design. Lots to do on Curacao. Not just diving and beaches. Excellent restaurants, well-stocked grocery stores, good roads, lots of great island trips and museums (check out the guest book). Amsterdam/Europe in the Caribbean!
We stayed 3 nights in July. we are a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Due to last minut change in our itinerary in July, we needed a house urgently (within 24 hours) for 3 nights in Curacao. We contacted Nancy (the owner) and she was extremely helpful and organized the booking in within 1 hour. Fantastic! More than can be expected. The villa is also fantastic. It has a good location, great pool, good for bird watching, very clean and very easy to prepare meals (good cooking utensils), a gas grill and no mosquitoes. In front of the house there is a kind of a walk way leading to the beach (a little hidden ). From there it takes about 7-10 minuts to walk to the beach where there is a diving shop, a restaurant and beach chairs to rent. We are certified scuba divers however due to the short time frame we stayed we did not choose to dive, but I would like to - next time. The whole area around the beach is being modernized and now lively and nice compared to 2010 where we also stayed in Coral Estates. At the restaurant it is possible to sit at the beach and enjoy a drink or meal. In total the villa is super good for both relaxation and near by activities.
The gated community is a nice feature. The Centrum grocery store in town is quite good. Snorkel in the little bays up from the house.
The house was lovely, clean and comfortable, just as presented. We like a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of town. If that is what you are looking for, this is the place. This is our 5th rental in the Caribbean and yes we would recommend this house. The community is peaceful, secure, and the shrubbery around the house gives you all the privacy you need. As stated, the main living area is not air conditioned, but we got used to it. The back sliding doors open fully to the pool-patio area, and as the owner recommends, we opened the front door for an effective breeze; it is almost like living outside, and it takes a little getting used to. But we enjoyed it, and given the choice, I would choose the pool over a house with all A/C. We very few bugs, even at night with the lights on. (September ). The A/C in the bedroom was nice for sleeping.
The house was hot when we arrived, and it does take awhile to cool off. I recommend you plan ahead; know that you will be hot and tired when you arrive, so just get out your bathing suit and hop in the pool! Unpack later! The infinity pool, the view of paradise, what more do you need!
We appreciated the well equipped kitchen, including all utensils, cleaning supplies, dishwasher, and basic condiments like salt, oil and a few spices, etc.
And Gino, the property manager was helpful, not only at the house, but with island questions like where to shop, etc. Thanks Gino!
We recommend you get your groceries in town at Centrum, first thing, as the owner recommends. There is not much available near the house.
We like to snorkel, we did find some decent spots, but clearly Curacao is more a dive destination. We liked the beach at Porto Mari, which is nearby. Cas Abou was also very nice, both charge a fee. Daaibooibaai was Free, nice and close by. All nice for sun, swimming, diving or snorkeling. Of these three, we found the best snorkeling on the left side of Cas Abou, we were essentially under the cliff wall, there were lots of fish and the coral was colorful.
We ventured all the way to the peninsula on the far side of Willemstad, on the far side of Caracas Bay, past Fort Beekenburg to snorkel the sunken Tug Boat. You will have to ask directions, it is a long drive.
Bring cash for gas. Stations don't seem to take MC/Visa/Discover.
Have a great trip!
