Perfection! Could not have been happier!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at Dolphin House! Nancy Jo was wonderful to work with and clearly shows pride in ownership and a desire to provide a first-rate experience to her guests. The house was very spacious and accommodating - the great room couch was comfortable and a good size, as was the indoor dining area. The kitchen was adequate for fixing meals - especially with the portable island - and was well stocked. We also used the gas grill for cooking, which was great! We only used the master bedroom, and found it comfortable and with ample storage and very efficient AC. The real showstopper at Dolphin House is the outdoor space. The pictures are exactly what you will see, but of course not as stunning as the real deal. The infinity pool was crystal clear and a really nice size; the outdoor seating was very comfortable, and also included 2 nice lounge chairs, as well as outdoor dining. The hottest time of the day if you happen to be at the house was probably from about 3:30-5:00, so the pool is perfect then - or sit out front in the shade - an awesome front sitting porch and a seating area in the front yard with almost a 'grotto' set up. Nancy Jo also had coolers and beach chairs available, and anything you needed was just a mention away as Ingrid is a friendly, professional, and responsive property manager. Coral Estates is a first-class community- secure, pristine, and a definite Resort atmosphere. Karakter and Koraal down the hill from the house are great places to have a drink or to eat - we enjoyed an outstanding dinner at Karakter. As for Curacao - and the west end, it was fantastic! We had stayed for the week prior at a condo near Willemstad to enjoy that end of the island, but totally were blown away by the west end! Went to 4 different beaches based on recommendations from Nancy Jo's guest book and the great next door neighbors. Loved Portomari and the public beach Playa Lagun. We also loved the countryside, and visited Shete Boka park - don't miss it, but take water and sunscreen! Even did Mt. Christoffel hike which is a bit of a challenge but rewards you with an amazing view. All in all we loved Dolphin House and Curacao - it seems like each made the other even better! The people were friendly, the weather was deluxe, and the water, snorkeling, and views were breathtaking! Best vacation ever!

Could be a 5-Star..........breathtaking ocean view!

  • 3 of 5

Thank you for our stay at Dolphin House! It was a welcoming place, after our many explorations all around Curacao. The peaceful ocean view, the pool & patio, the relaxing living room, and very comfy beds were the best remedy for our hectic lives in chilly Boston. Our house manager, Ingrid, was very pleasant and responsive to our requests.

Dolphin House is ideally situated to use as a home base, but we gave it a 3-star rating due to the following list. If the owner will remedy these items, you will certainly have a 5-star stay at this rental! Before you book, ask her if she's addressed them yet:

- Major mosquito problem INSIDE the house. These are the invisible type, you can't see them.

- NO SCREENS on the sliding glass doors to the pool patio.

- Ironically, the doors must remain open for ventilation (temp in the 80's, No A/C in great room)

- All 4 guests suffered numerous bites on legs and arms. Too bad, 'cause the house has a really nice open-concept space!

- We love the warm Caribbean winds, but had to close up the bedrooms & use A/C every night. However, mosquitos were already in the house. Still got bitten on face & arms while we slept!

- Mosquito netting over the beds would have been a very simple solution.

- Strong recommendation: WEAR BUG REPELLANT w/ 34+% Deet, absolutely 24/7, on all parts of body, including on your face and hair.

- Only 2 sand chairs for 4 people to bring to the free beaches. Forced option: go to pay beaches.

- Privacy issue: there's no door on master bath entry......."Wait, honey - don't come in!"

- Ask ahead, to adequately stock for 1 week/4 guests: beach towels, toilet paper, bar soaps, kitchen trash liners, sponges, and a full propane tank for bbq grill if you plan to eat in. (we ran out after 4 dinners in.)

All in all, we have beautiful memories of Curacao, and hope to return someday in the future!

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you had a memorable stay . Mosquitoes are not usually a big problem, there may have been a lot of rain prior to your arrival. I never travel to a tropical location without bringing bug spray and wipes. The beauty of Dolphin house is the open air concept so screens are not feasible, nor in the bedrooms, as the ceiling fans would interfere . Everyone uses the A/C at night, and keeps the bedroom doors closed during the day. I will make sure there is a stocked supply of the basics but we do not provide daily hotel amenities.

Beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We spent the month of February at Dolphin House. Everything was perfect. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms are modern, the A/C in the bedrooms was great for nighttime. There is plenty of comfortable seating and dining areas. The sliders to the covered lanai and pool deck are huge and open fully, so you're "outdoors" even when inside. The view is wonderful. We had sun on the pool starting around 9:00 AM, and continuing all day with a beautiful sunset each and every night. Highly recommended!

Fully Equipped Home, Safe and Tranquil Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing vacation at The Dolphin House. We were warmly greeted by Ingrid, who was very helpful and answered all of our questions. It is obvious the house is well maintained and loved by the owner. The house is located in a very safe, gated community.

The house was clean, had a beautiful view, and was fully equipped with everything we ever needed from cook ware to beach towels and chairs. We have rented many places on homeaway and VRBO, but none felt like a home with everything we needed as much as The Dolphin House. We regretfully forgot to sign the guestbook but here are some highlights from our stay on Curacao:

Beach days and snorkeling at playa porto mari, cas abou, and daiibooii. A trip to Shete National park to view the natural bridge and 'blowholes' was well worth the trip. We cooked a lot and had everything we needed to do so, but also visited Lagun dive shop for Wednesday night BBQ and Karakter for my birthday dinner, which the staff made extremely special.

Overall, I would highly recommend The Dolphin House for it has everything you will ever need.

The perfect fit for us.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed b/n Dec 26-30. Ingrid met us when we arrived and went over the basics. The house was spotless and had the basic necessities. For our family of four (two adults and two kids) the house was the perfect size. The view from the deck was amazing. The kids loved playing in the pool and we enjoyed eating outside. The kitchen is well equipped: stove top, dish washer, toaster oven (only), blender, coffee maker, plenty of spices, pots, pans, and containers. The AC units in the rooms were used only for sleeping and worked extremely well. The beds were comfortable and everything worked great. Nancy Jo's information book was well used during our stay. Her recommendations were on the mark. We visited four different beaches: all awesome! We did more cooking at the house than planned but it's fun going to grocery stores in other countries. Most of the restaurants needed reservations, not sure why because they didn't appear busy, and E Lanturnu wasn't open whenever we stopped by to eat there. Hiking Mt. Christoffel is a must. The dive shop in Coral Estates provides everything you need and are super helpful. After all the activities, it was wonderful to come "home" and relax some more. The location of Coral Estates is ideal and relatively close to grocery stores, gas stations, and Willemstad. Also a bonus is that the back deck and pool area are well surrounded by trees and bushes to afford a great deal of privacy. Thank you Nancy Jo for your wonderful house and hospitality. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your slice of heaven.
