Imagine being surrounded by an acre of woods, fronted by a large fresh-water lake stocked with salmon and flocked to by geese and float planes alike. Imagine canoing in the early morning mist or hiking the nearby Coastal Trail along Cook Inlet. Imagine cross-country skiing in the brisk winter sunlight or ice skating under the Northern Lights. Realize it all at A Lakeside Bed & Breakfast.
Your private suite is reached by an outdoor entrance. Step into a large living room complete with sitting area, dining room, reading nook and solitude. A private bedroom and bath are yours, as well as a full kitchen where a self-serve hearty continental breakfast is made at your leisure. (We provide eggs, cereal, oatmeal, muffins, fruit, juice, tea, milk and coffee.)
Browse through the bookcase for your favorite book. Pop some popcorn, move the TV (with VCR/DVD) to your favorite corner and settle in for a private screening of a classic film from our library. Relax.
As cozy as it is inside, there's lots of activities available outside all year round. Paddle one of our canoes around Sand Lake, explore canals and search for loons and moose. Or go for a bike ride on the Coastal Trail and watch for breeching whales. Sit a spell on the patio and feel the peacefulness engulf you. No matter what month it is, A Lakeside B&B is always in season.
We're located on the shores of Sand Lake, eight minutes away from the Anchorage International Airport, 20 minutes from Downtown Anchorage, 45-60 minutes from Girdwood and Portage Glacier and the Chugach National Park, 60 minutes from the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. We are close to bike and world-class ski trails, a grocery store, dry cleaner, 10 minutes from a large shopping mall and movies theaters, 30 seconds from Mother Nature.
We are fully licensed with the state and municipality as required, inspected and approved by the Anchorage Alaska Bed & Breakfast Association.
Ann and Tim have been long-time residents of Anchorage; Ann since 1967, Tim following in 1978. Both can't imagine living anywhere else! Tim enjoys fishing, hunting, and building things...he started with our redwood canoe, then built the drift boat, and finished an airplane years ago. He speaks Outdoors with ease. Ann loves to quilt and read good books, spend time with family and friends, and go to the theatre. She currently serves on the Anchorage Concert Association. Both Ann and Tim like meeting their guests of the B&B and traveling the world! They keep busy with their businesses: real estate referrals and consulting, the B&B, and Ann's marketing consulting firm.

We chose to build our B&B because we wanted to share our piece of heaven on earth with folks from all over the globe. We put in a wall of windows so you can see the lake and wild life at all times. We added a full kitchen to serve our guests who choose to spend a few weeks with us. With our long summer days, our guests are able to enjoy lake living to its fullest. In winter the lake provides a myriad of winter activities including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice fishing.
They say if you happen to live on the water, you are blessed! We sure feel that way. Our guests sometimes run out to the lakeside in their pajamas in the early morning to capture a float plane taking off into the morning sun. Or exclaim to us that they just saw a moose, right out in the yard! They take photos of our hand-carved giant totem pole in the back yard. They swim on hot days, or paddleboat, trailing their hands in the cold water. As near as we are to the airport, it's surprisingly quiet and peaceful here. Some of our guests make our B&B their destination, choosing to relax and see Alaska from their front door. Whether it's for one night or three weeks, we're here for you! Please check our Availability Calendar on our webpage for the absolute latest update.
Thanks for such a beautiful place! I loved seeing and hearing the loons on the lake, and the planes taking off across the lake. It is as comfortable as being home and immensely nicer than a hotel room. We will definitely return here hopefully in the very near future.
My husband, daughter and I stayed at Lakeside B&B for a week. This is without a doubt one of the best places to stay while visiting Anchorage and the surrounding area. Anne and Tim are gracious hosts, very helpful and they have plenty of ideas of where to eat, locally, and best places to visit. The apartment is comfortable, clean and stocked with plenty of snacks to get you going on your day of fun and travel. The setting is absolutely beautiful, the lake is just steps away and there is always something happening on the lake weather it's fishing, float planes or rowing teams passing by. I would have liked a day just to hang out and watch the world go by from the B&B. I would definitely stay here again.
Ann greeted us with a smile and ushered us to our beautiful one bedroom home. The parklike lake view is stunning, and canoes and paddle boat are included! Every detail is lovingly addressed in the home. Delicious breakfast, a great supply of movies and books, complemented with popcorn. The queen bed was so very, very comfortable, and the area is quiet lending to a peaceful sleep. You will enjoy having coffee while looking out over a gorgeous lake. It's a little gem in the middle of Anchorage! Soooo much better than a hotel room!
My wife and I planned to be in Anchorage for four nights preceding departure on a tour of Alaska. We chose Lakeside Suite due to its beautiful natural setting and its price that is very competitive with all the hotels in town. We really enjoyed our stay at Lakeside. We toured the lake two times in the owner's canoe, shopped for groceries at the nearby Carr's, ate in town at Yak & Yetti and walked in nearby Kincaid Park. We could have just relaxed more at the Lakeside if our itinerary had allowed. Food for breakfast was provided each day in our suite so we could make it ourselves and get about our day. Breakfast selections included a variety of cereals, oatmeal, breads, yogurt, fruit and hard boiled eggs with coffee or tea - just what I would have eaten if I were at home. Owners Tim and Annie were very nice. Many of our companions on the tour spent their first night in Anchorage in a hotel or B&B in town or at the airport. I am glad we stayed at Lakeside Suite.
My husband and I stayed at the Lakeside Suite for one night. Annie was very nice and accommodating, allowing an early check in and late checkout because of our flight times. The location was great being near the airport, restaurants, and especially Kincaid Park where we nature lovers saw four moose! We liked the ability to explore our beautiful view, the lake, from our "home away from home", but it immediately did not feel like home, when we were fortunately told there was arsenic in the water and locking our car doors was very important in a seemingly safe neighborhood. A filtering system was in place as a preventative measure, however that did little to ease our minds about showering and brushing our teeth. Luckily we were only staying there one night, as the signage throughout the suite was a reminder of what not to do while there. We had a bed and there was breakfast, but nothing that made us feel like we were at a bed and breakfast. Unfortunately, there were simply too many hidden unpleasantries to recommend the Lakeside Suite.
The Lakeside Suite was perfect for our first few days in Alaska. It is a very peaceful setting with awesome views. Hosts Annie and Tim were very accommodating. Close to Kincaid park with access to the Thomas Knowles trail. Close to stores and downtown. We would recommend this to anyone wanting a quiet, convenient place to stay.
Anchorage is a metropolitan city with just about every activity available within a couple of hours. Check out anchorage.net for a variety of outfitters and operators to suit your desires. We highly recommend the Anchorage Museum, the Anchorage Heritage Center, hiking Flattop, biking the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, and enjoying the vistas throughout Anchorage...just look up and sigh.
