Michael was a very attentive and gracious host. The house was beautiful, fully stocked, and extremely enjoyable to stay in - plus it looked better than the photos. We thoroughly enjoyed the seclusion from the city and the wonderful views we were offered. The road up was a bit more narrow than I would have hoped for, but was nice nonetheless. It really felt like a home away from home and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
We spent the weekend of June 10-June 14 2016 in this beautiful mountain home to attend the graduation of our son, grandson, nephew and cousin from University of California Santa Barbara. The house has so much character and all of us fell in love with it. The views from the decks are amazing and the inside is well laid out. The owner met us there to show us around and he was very personable and told us to call him if we had any problems. There is a lot of history behind this house and every one in our group enjoyed our stay there. I would go back to this home anytime I am in the Santa Barbara area. Ann from Georgia
Our first impression when we walked through the door was that if felt like a "home" and not a vacation rental. The house has family history in every corner and "real" decoration that has evolved over the years. This is a house that it's furnished to live in, not to rent. When we arrived, the owner met us and gave us a tour of the house. He was very welcoming and made himself available to solve any problems that may arise (we had none). Now, the main draw of the house are the views. They are amazing at all time: during the day you can see the Pacific Ocean and the channel islands, and at night, you can see the Santa Barbara city lights and the stars. The house also has a sizable deck, which is a great place to spend time, the friendly birds will come and eat peanuts (which the owner thoughtfully provides) almost off your hand and I've never seen so many hummingbirds before. One of the people in my group is a cook and he loved the 1927 stove and the very well equipped kitchen. Oh, and for the technology-inclined, the WiFi is fast. The only negative for the house (more like a trade-off) is that it takes 20-25 minutes to drive to Santa Barbara; it's an easy drive (mostly on highway 154), but you are away from things. All and all, we loved the place and we highly recommend it.
The pictures are exactly how this house looked when we arrived and more! The views of Santa Barbara are spectacular and the patio was so nice with lay out chairs. My friends and I enjoyed the library while watching the Olympics and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to make meals. The beds were so comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. The owner was very easy to work with, dependable, and thorough. The house has a very warm and welcome feel to it and we were so grateful to have this place to create great memories! If we have our next reunion in SB I'll be sure to see if this house is available.
Very unique property nestled above the fog in the hills overlooking Santa Barbara. Cozy but roomy home has lots of space for multiple conversations, as well as larger gathering spaces for meals and games. Balcony and deck spaces offer views above the city lights and ocean, out to the Channel Islands, or just an amazing get away from which to enjoy the stars. Well equipped kitchen for preparing family meals. Pictures accurately show the quality and coziness of this hand-crafted home. The beds are comfortable and the owner's hospitality genuine. We brought three couples and a bunch of young adult children for a reunion and a UCSB graduation celebration, for which this home served well as both a base for outings and a comfortable home for preparing meals and sharing quality time. The piano was wonderful, and the evening of charades memorable. One of our party fell in love with the many comfortable and cozy seating areas, inside and out, for conversations. The wireless served multiple computer and smart phone users effortlessly. A unique and high quality Vacation Home Rental that for the space, location, and amenities, was very reasonably priced. Heartily recommended!
Private Homes, Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Area, Central Coast, California, USA (20 Minutes From Downtown S.B, UCSB and Santa Ynez Wineries) San Marcos Pass has recently been declared one of the most scenic highways in the country and has been designated as a national scenic corridor protected from billboards and commercial development. The drive to and from town is spectacular. Additionally, West Camino Cielo is the route of several 'cloud tours' from Santa Barbara, that bring visitors up out of the summer fog on their way to the Santa Ynez Valley Wine Country. The mountains are an amazing experience from another time. But if it gets too quiet, The Chumash Indian Casino is just over the hill.
