MASTER BEDROOM AND PRIVATE MASTER BATH:
You’ll sleep well in the Comfy Queen Bed, with its Memory Foam Mattress pad, High Thread-Count cotton sheets, Fluffy Down Comforter, and your choice of soft down or firm pillows. The master suite is popular with our senior guests, as is the single-level floor plan of our home (with the caveat that we do have stairs leading into our home). The master bath is tastefully decorated in natural slate and features radiant heat slate flooring, walk-in shower with large bench seating, and both fixed and handheld Grohe showerheads.
In addition to providing convenient direct access to the backyard deck and hot tub, the master bedroom's Large Sliding Glass Doors affords great viewing of the local wildlife from the comfort of your own bed. Other amenities include a Flat Panel HDTV, matching nightstands, two reading lamps, dresser, and clock radio with Docking Station for your iPhone or iPod. Families with infants find plenty of room in the Master Suite to set up the Animal Time Pak-n-Play that comes with the house.
As with the master bedroom, the guest bedroom also features a Comfy Queen Bed with easily removable Memory Foam Mattress pad, High Thread-Count cotton sheets, Fluffy Down Comforter, and a choice of soft down or firm pillows. A single glass door provides a nice view of the backyard, along with direct access to the backyard deck and hot tub. The bunkroom is furnished with a twin bed and twin over full bunk bed that is a hit with the kids. All mattresses and linens are high quality and there are plenty of down comforters and blankets for all. The Flat Panel HDTV, with built-in DVD player, makes the room a great place for the kids to hang out and enjoy their favorite DVD.
The guest bathroom is conveniently located between the guest bedroom and bunk bedroom. Larger families and groups will appreciate the sliding door separating the dual sinks in the front half of the bathroom from the toilet and shower/tub in the back half. In keeping with the mountain theme, the combination shower/tub and floor are tastefully finished in natural slate. The functioning window provides plenty of natural light and crisp mountain air. As both bathrooms come with complimentary blow dryers, there's no need to pack your own. We also supply soap, shampoo, conditioners, and other toiletries (should you forget your own).
During the winter, you’ll really appreciate the level driveway, which is plowed regularly and provides plenty of off-street parking. In the garage, you’ll find snow-play toys for the kids and a new high-end Kettler indoor/outdoor ping pong table. In the summer, enjoy an evening meal or beverage on the large Brazilian Hardwood rear deck, which is furnished with an eight-person dining table (constructed out of matching Brazilian Hardwood), Chaise Lounge, and two Outdoor Sofas and matching coffee table. During the summer, you'll enjoy watching the fawns frolicking in the back yard. As evenings tend to cool down in Tahoe Donner during the summer, soaking in the views of Mt. Rose from the comfort of the hot tub ranks right up there as well.

About Ken & Rebecca (Tahoe Outside Inn)
Ken grew up 70 miles from Truckee, in the small town of Quincy. While he has lived and traveled many places, he is a homegrown Californian who loves nature, the outdoors and the mountains he once called home. Good cinematography is a critical component of any movie worth viewing for Ken. Rebecca is one of the many midwesterners who transplanted to California in her early 20's and fell in love with outdoor lifestyle (much to the dismay of her family back in Illinois, but fortunately they enjoy visiting her). Our passion for the outdoors led us to purchase this home in Truckee. Although our jobs keep us tied to our home base in San Francisco (Ken in corporate real estate finance, Rebecca in commercial interior design), we love being in the mountains and have spent many a weekend skiing, cycling, fly fishing, hiking and swimming around Tahoe.
Ken & Rebecca (Tahoe Outside Inn) purchased this House in 2005
Why Ken & Rebecca (Tahoe Outside Inn) chose Truckee
After viewing many houses in the Tahoe area, we immediately knew this was the perfect vacation home for us. Although we considered homes near the lakes (Tahoe and Donner), neither of these locations offered the views or numerous amenities of our home in Tahoe Donner - not to mention the fact a location on Lake Tahoe can easily add an hour or more to your drive. The amazing windows and view were what really sold us on this particular house. This home brings the outdoors to you from the comfort of your own living room! Since 2005, this home has been a labor of love for us, with countless remodeling/decorating projects and the transformation of the backyard into an amazing outdoor living space.
What makes this House unique
Our home is conveniently located on a quiet street with gorgeous views off the Alder Creek back entrance to Tahoe Donner. A quick 3 minute walk (run or bike) up from our street and you'll find yourself at a trailhead that connects to an extensive network of trails on the backside of Tahoe Donner and Euer Valley (480 beautiful acres of recently acquired by Tahoe Donner)..in the winter months, the cross country center and ski hill are super close.

Delightful and perfectly appointed winter house
This was one of the best vacation homes we’ve stayed in. The owners had thought of everything, from chef’s knives in the kitchen that actually cut potatoes to little bottles of sunscreen by the sink. We whiled away the hours in the spacious hot tub looking out at the snow covered trees - delightful!
All the comforts of home
Wonderful stay in Donner in a home that was so pleasant to come back to. The house is filled with all the utensils you would want from home. Thank you for keeping the house pet free.
Everything you need!
Loved this house because of the hot tub, hilly yard for sledding, use of the garage and close proximity to Tahoe Donned ski area. We had a group of four adults and three kids and it was comfortable for all for the six nights we stayed.
Great house with wonderful & responsive hosts
We had a great stay at Ken and Rebecca's "Tahoe Outside Inn" located up in the Tahoe-Donner community. The place was immaculate, with a very thorough guidebook to cover off on any possible scenario you might face while lodging. The house has everything you'd want: a private hot tub, a great big living room with complete entertainment center, a cozy fireplace, and a kitchen for making any type of group meal you might need + a sizable dining room table around which to enjoy it. The bedrooms and bathrooms were stellar, and generally the place is decked out in mountain/outdoor-lodge decor to give it the full "Tahoe feel."
While we had no issues, they were still very responsive even in the general rental correspondence.
Highly recommend this house, and we'll plan to consider it again should the need arise!
Family friendly home in great location!
We stayed here with our two sons for 3 nights and loved this home. The house was easy to find and in an excellent location. The yard was great for playing in the snow with our little ones and we loved having the hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped and clean. There were plenty of towels and extra cozy blankets for sitting by the fire. And the views from the front of the house were...WOW.
We were not aware of the area before we came and were pleasantly surprised by all the amenities the Tahoe Donner community provides. I highly recommend staying in this home if you want to access any of the Truckee area ski resorts, especially Donner. Thanks Ken & Rebecca!
Great for a family
We brought our sons to Tahoe for their first time in the snow. The house was great, close to Tahoe Donner downhill ski area and the snowplay. We were even able to sled in the backyard. The house is well stocked and kept in great shape. Our boys loved the bunk beds and were thrilled to have a TV in their room. Only thing that didn't work was a light in the guest bathroom but other than that, everything was great. We plan on staying here again.
Tahoe Donner is approximately 15-20 minutes from Squaw Valley, Sugar Bowl, Alpine Meadows, Northstar and other world-class ski resorts. Almost any shop or restaurant that you will need is located within one mile of the entrance to Tahoe Donner. Charming old town Truckee, with its many fine restaurants, boutiques, and galleries is just four miles away. Lake Tahoe is just 15 miles away and Reno is 30 miles away. Our home is a five-minute drive from Tahoe Donner's cross-country and down hill ski resorts and the Trout Creek Recreation Center.
