Cross County enthusiasts and families with young children will appreciate the five-minute drive to Tahoe Donner’s downhill and cross country resorts. Our summer guests will appreciate the numerous hiking trails within walking distance from our home. Conveniently located five-minutes away from the well-stocked local market and 10 minutes to Safeway.

MASTER BEDROOM AND PRIVATE MASTER BATH:

You’ll sleep well in the Comfy Queen Bed, with its Memory Foam Mattress pad, High Thread-Count cotton sheets, Fluffy Down Comforter, and your choice of soft down or firm pillows. The master suite is popular with our senior guests, as is the single-level floor plan of our home (with the caveat that we do have stairs leading into our home). The master bath is tastefully decorated in natural slate and features radiant heat slate flooring, walk-in shower with large bench seating, and both fixed and handheld Grohe showerheads.

In addition to providing convenient direct access to the back yard deck and hot tub, the master bedroom's Large Sliding Glass Doors affords great viewing of the local wildlife from the comfort of your own bed. Other amenities include a Flat Panel HDTV, matching nightstands, two reading lamps, dresser, and clock radio with Docking Station for your iPhone or iPod. Families with infants find plenty of room in the Master Suite to set up the Animal Time Pak-n-Play that comes with the house.

GUEST BEDROOM:

As with the master bedroom, the guest bedroom also features a Comfy Queen Bed with easily removable Memory Foam Mattress pad, High Thread-Count cotton sheets, Fluffy Down Comforter, and a choice of soft down or firm pillows. A single glass door provides a nice view of the backyard, along with direct access to the back yard deck and hot tub. Other amenities include a two-person table/desk for your laptops, Flat Panel HDTV, night stand, reading lamp, and clock radio with iPhone docking station.

BUNK BEDROOM:

The bunkroom is furnished with a twin bed and twin over full bunk bed that is a hit with the kids. All mattresses and linens are high quality and there are plenty of down comforters and blankets for all. The Flat Panel HDTV, with built-in DVD player, makes the room a great place for the kids to hang out and enjoy their favorite DVD.

GUEST BATHROOM:

The guest bathroom is conveniently located between the guest bedroom and bunk bedroom. Larger families and groups will appreciate the sliding door separating the dual sinks in the front half of the bathroom from the toilet and shower/tub in the back half. In keeping with the mountain theme, the combination shower/tub and floor are tastefully finished in natural slate. The functioning window provides plenty of natural light and crisp mountain air. As both bathrooms come with complimentary blow dryers, there's no need to pack your own. We also supply soap, shampoo, conditioners, and other toiletries (should you forget your own).

OUTDOOR AMENITIES:

During the winter, you’ll really appreciate the level driveway, which is plowed regularly and provides plenty of off-street parking. In the garage, you’ll find snow-play toys for the kids and a new high-end Kettler indoor/outdoor ping pong table. In the summer, enjoy an evening meal or beverage on the large Brazilian Hardwood rear deck, which is furnished with a an eight-person dining table (constructed out of matching Brazilian Hardwood), Chaise Lounge, and two Outdoor Sofas and matching coffee table. During the summer, you'll enjoy watching the fawns frolicking in the back yard. As evenings tend to cool down in Tahoe Donner during the summer, soaking in the views of Mt. Rose from the comfort of the hot tub ranks right up there as well.

ABOUT TAHOE DONNER:

Our home is located in the members-only Tahoe Donner resort community. With provided guest passes, you can take advantage of numerous amenities available to Tahoe Donner’s members and guests (a daily use fee does apply). Summer guests can enjoy all sorts of water sports at our private Beach Club Marina at Donner Lake, with its sandy beach, boat launch, boat rentals, and snack bar. About Ken & Rebecca (Tahoe Outside Inn)

Ken grew up 70 miles from Truckee, in the small town of Quincy. While he has lived and traveled many places, he is a homegrown Californian who loves nature, the outdoors and the mountains he once called home. Good cinematography is a critical component of any movie worth viewing for Ken. Rebecca is one of the many midwesterners who transplanted to California in her early 20's and fell in love with outdoor lifestyle (much to the dismay of her family back in Illinois, but fortunately they enjoy visiting her). Our passion for the outdoors led us to purchase this home in Truckee. Although our jobs keep us tied to our home base in San Francisco (Ken in corporate real estate finance, Rebecca in commercial interior design), we love being in the mountains and have spent many a weekend skiing, cycling, fly fishing, hiking and swimming around Tahoe.

Ken & Rebecca (Tahoe Outside Inn) purchased this house in 2005

Why Ken & Rebecca (Tahoe Outside Inn) chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

After viewing many houses in the Tahoe area, we immediately knew this was the perfect vacation home for us. Although we considered homes near the lakes (Tahoe and Donner), neither of these locations offered the views or numerous amenities of our home in Tahoe Donner - not to mention the fact a location on Lake Tahoe can easily add an hour or more to your drive. The amazing windows and view were what really sold us on this particular house. This home brings the outdoors to you from the comfort of your own living room! Since 2005, this home has been a labor of love for us, with countless remodeling/decorating projects and the transformation of the backyard into an amazing outdoor living space.

What makes this house unique

Our home is conveniently located on a quiet street with gorgeous views off the Alder Creek back entrance to Tahoe Donner. A quick 3 minute walk (run or bike) up from our street and you'll find yourself at a trailhead that connects to an extensive network of trails on the backside of Tahoe Donner and Euer Valley (480 beautiful acres of recently acquired by Tahoe Donner)..in the winter months, the cross country center and ski hill are super close.

Cute, comfortable, well stocked house

  • 5 of 5

The two of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this well stocked comfortable house. Great view from the front of house ! Spent our days playing golf in Truckee and Tahoe. Thought the TV in family room was hard to set up but we did figure it out. We certainly look forward to another stay in the future.

Cozy and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house. We arrived to a clean, fully stocked and very comfortable house. They even stocked things that we realized we forgot to pack, like kitchen essentials. Our kids were excited to pick out their rooms for the week and we were looking forward to enjoying the hot tub off the master deck and the close proximity to the Trout Creek snow play area. The location was ideal for casual snow fun and a very short drive away from historic downtown Truckee. The owner was responsive, very organized with details about the property and easy to work with for reservations and planning. Next time we are n Tahoe, we look forward to staying here again. It was perfect for us.

As advertised. Great family ski weekend in Tahoe!

  • 5 of 5

Ken and Rebecca were great hosts and their Tahoe getaway is a great place to stay when spending time in the Tahoe area. We had a fantastic time and the property served as an excellent home base. We are hoping to get up there again this ski season!

Great house - well equipped

  • 5 of 5

Great house with everything that we needed for a weekend in the snow. The kitchen even had sharp knives, a first for a VRBO. Tahoe Donner ski area is just five minutes away and great for kids who are just learning to ski.

Great Ski Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This was a fun home for us to book over the New Year's timeframe - it's a cozy house, with a nicely-appointed kitchen, plenty of extra towels for jacuzzi, etc. And it was great for kids - nothing too precious, a room where they could bunk up/retreat together. One car covered in garage, with easy parking in driveway. For those skiing at Northstar, the location is actually quite interesting in high season, as there's a 'back route' which allows you to access rt 89 without using 80 or passing through downtown Truckee.

Ken and Rebecca were easy to work with, all house/check-in instructions were very clear. Overall a great spot!

FIVE STAR Vacation Rental !!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Ken and Rebecca have absolutely one of the BEST vacation homes. It is comfortable from the moment you walk in. The home and all of the amenities are very user friendly. The kitchen , which we used to cook a full Thanksgiving meal, lacked nothing. Everything in VRBO description is 100% accurate. The added ability to use the Tahoe Donner recreational facilities was icing. The heated pool, fitness center , and entire Tahoe Donner facility are world class and available for use with guest pass and nominal fee. We definitely plan on returning! Thank you Ken and Rebecca for a perfect Thanksgiving getaway!
