Morning Coffee and Sunrise views with lobster boats peacefully working out front, ahhh another day at Crestcliff.
You will love the Incredible views of Boothbay Harbor from the covered porch of our rustic family cottage. This early 1900's cottage has a mix of rustic charm and modern updates to make your relaxing possible. On a quiet private road that sits next to a shared community dock for fishing, or to access the water with your kayak or boat that you bring and keep on our private mooring.
You walk up a flight of stairs to the first floor wrapping covered porch, and can access the kitchen or dining room from French doors. Adjoining the dining room and antiqued dining table your have an open archway to enter the living room which is quite large and can easily accommodate the occupants of a full house. Great place for kids who delight in playing on the rocks, or fish from the dock. There is a gas grill on the porch bordering a grassy side yard with flowers and water views and sun. Townsend Gut is to the view left, Boothbay Harbor is straight ahead and scenic Mouse Island is in front moving to ocean views and Lighthouses, Burnt Island and Squirrel Island completes the view.
The kitchen faces the rear of the house, and has room to prepare meals in Maine style with rustic pine walls. The kitchen is dated, Realtor's call this charm, we like it and trust you will. Bathroom is on the same floor, and updated with fan and heat yet carries the same charm. There is the full bed and bedroom down the hall. The other 4 bedrooms are upstairs, all with water views.
During your stay, enjoy Boothbay Harbor's wonderful art galleries, shopping, and restaurants, a short drive. Enjoy yourself with activities including renting a boat or kayak, or join a boat cruise or whale-watching excursion. Go deep-sea fishing, hike a nature trail, or just relax in the serene natural setting of coastal Maine. Southport Island is connected to Boothbay by a unique swinging bridge over Townsend Gut and is approximately three hours from Boston, three hours from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, one hour from Camden and Rockland, as well as just 45 minutes from Bath, Brunswick, and Freeport for the LL bean fans out there.

Perfect Maine house
We spent a week at this house in Maine, and the moment we arrived and walked in the door we were thrilled. The house is lovely and charming, with windows everywhere so you feel like you're on the water even when you're inside. There is a large dining room table and a wonderful living room with very comfortable furniture. The bedrooms upstairs are not large, but all have windows on the water and great sea breezes at night. Mattresses and bedding are extremely comfortable. Best feature of this house is the porch - it is amazing! So close to the water and a great view of Mouse Island - we saw and heard lots of osprey and there are bald eagles there too. Bring your binoculars!! What was really fun was watching the lobster guys hauling traps so close to this house. There's a large shared dock for this small neighborhood (we only saw two families using it while we were there, and it was fun to get to know them). From this dock you can kayak or canoe or paddle board to so many different places.
The only possible drawback for some people, though this didn't bother us at all, was that there is only one bathroom, and it is downstairs.
One of the really nice things about this home is that there is such a sense of rich family history - there are wonderful photos of all the generations of relatives. I particularly enjoyed this aspect of being there.
This place is a gem.....
Water Views everywhere, I love that part of the cottage too. Thanks so much for your kind words in renting our home.
Hope you come back, thanks for the note.
My wife and two college/high school-age sons spent a beautiful relaxing week. My favorite activity: sit on the porch with a good book and the gorgeous views of the bay and out to the ocean -- sometimes busy but not disturbing with lobsterman and other boats, plus ducks and osprey diving for fish out front, couple of seals out in the harbor, and what I think was a mink or otter late one afternoon. The photos are accurate, it's truly beautiful. Kitchen is a bit rustic, again as advertised, but everything works and it's fully stocked with all the kitchen gear you need. Upstairs bedrooms also rustic but charming and clean. Towels/linens provided and plentiful. We enjoyed easy day trips to Freeport for LL Bean and Rockland to see friends -- and Red's in Wiscasset is a must for lobster roll and fried clams (standing in line is half the fun). Best meal on Southport: Newagen Seaside Inn -- and Robinson's Wharf is good for lobster -- both no more than 5 minutes from the house. The landlord was very accessible and helpful, no problems at all. Still dreaming of the view off the porch while sweltering in DC writing this!
Thanks for your kind review of our vacation home. Glad to have you as tenants and hope to see you all again.
