|Minimum Stay||2 - 5 nights|
A beautiful 2,500 sq. ft. custom built home located toward the end of a point on close to a half-acre of land. The house is nestled among the live oaks, cedars, and pines, and elevated, showcasing westerly views across the marsh and providing spectacular sunsets. The property features a 350 ft. dock across leading to deepwater (3 ft. min. at low tide). The dock has a pier head, providing plenty of shade, and a boatlift. See the shrimp boats off in the distance. You can fish, crab, and shrimp off the dock or go clamming at the nearby Coffin Point beach a short walk away.
The inside of the house is very spacious with an open floorplan and features dark hardwoods throughout and 10 ft.+ ceilings with cooling ceiling fans in all bedrooms and common areas. The layout is perfect for a family or couple wanting a lot of room and privacy, or two families vacationing together that desire their own spaces. Sleeps 6-8 (for a family including kids), but anything over 6 adults might be pushing it.
The main floor includes a vast, open floorplan with the living room, dining room, and kitchen, as well as a half bath and the master suite. Expansive windows look out over the marsh and deepwater from every vantage point. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and the den has a flatscreen sony tv. A covered porch with breezy ceiling fans offers a shady spot to relax and sip morning coffee or watch the sun set. The master suite is huge, with plenty of room to lounge, relax, and take in the treetop views. The master bath features a double vanity and walk-in double shower to steam and relax after a day of outside play. The master closet is so large our young son likes to sleep on a queen airbed here and make forts.
The upstairs includes the other two bedrooms, a full bath, a common area, and laundry room. Each bedroom offers panoramic views of the outdoors. One bedroom features a queen-sized bed and flat screen tv, the other has two double beds. The common area is a great space for children to relax and includes a tv, dvd player, custom bookshelves, whiteboard, and futon. For those traveling with young ones and not a lot of car space, we have a pack and play, toddler potty, and air mattress to free up your car space.
There is plenty of covered parking under the house and uncovered parking on the driveway.
The property is a half-mile walk from a secluded beach on St. Helena Sound. Take the opportunity to dig up a clam dinner, surf, fish for redfish, or just swim in the calm warm waters. There is a horse farm nearby which offers horseback rides on the beach. Or your can just hang out on the porch or outdoor patio and watch the horses walk by. VERY relaxing. Grill up your catch on our BBQ or do a full-on oyster roast in our oyster pit. The flat terrain of the area is well-suited for joggers and bicycle enthusiasts.
Beaufort (with its shopping, dining, boating and cultural scene) is only a short drive (15 min.) away. Hunting Island State Park is just under a 10 minute drive from the property and offers plenty for wildlife/nature/beach lovers (while we provide a Hunting Island pass, the park is temporarily closed due to Hurricane Matthew repairs. We'll continue to monitor the updates (updated Jan 2017). There are many seafood restaurants for fans of fish, shrimp, and shellfish. Nearby farms offer fresh fruits and vegetables in season.

We fell in love with the area -- the marsh, the oaks, the beach, the ocean, etc.. We love the relaxed lifestyle as well as the opportunity to fill our stomach with all types of seafood. This is a great place for people who like the outdoors. If you like fishing, kayaking, biking, golfing, swimming, boating, clamming, crabbing, shrimping, walking, jogging, horseback riding, relaxing, outdoor eating, shopping (nearby) then you'll understand why we bought in this area. Plus, the home is absolutely gorgeous. You really don't have to leave the property to have a good and relaxing time.
You can go crabbing and fishing off the dock. Enjoy the bbq and oyster pit. The home is very spacious with great views. All of the furniture is brand-new. There is even an outdoor shower. Flat-screen TVs and wireless internet are there for you to enjoy in any down-time. We are about a ten-minute walk to a secluded beach. The are numerous farms nearby offering fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as many seafood restaurants offering the catch of the day (you can be sure that it will be fresh and you can always ask).
Wow, this house is amazing! The dock at sunrise is the most beautiful and peaceful place. My family has had a very busy year and this was the perfect place to unwind. Watching my family enjoying fishing...was worth every dollar. This house and this island feel magical..
Really enjoyed our stay. Very quiet and relaxing
We spent a week here and had a wonderful time. We hung out and fished off the dock a lot. Caught some stingrays, silver perch, croakers, pin fish and lots of blue crab in the pots. Careful getting those blue crab out of their pots!!! They are aggressive and fast!! Not like dungeoness crab at all. Didn't feel bad throwing them into boiling water at all. ;) The directv was great. Loved being able to record shows and pause tv because it's what we're used to. There was lots of plastic wrap, ziplocs, condiments, oil, fish fry, etc so don't bring that stuff til you look around.
We found the most AMAZING cookies at Beaufort Bread Company. The pecan sandy sandwich cookies. OMG to die for. We had Maryland Fried Chicken one night too. The mixed gizzards and livers were memorable! Perfect salt and crunch.
There was no Hunting Island Pass :( but we went several times anyway. David fished off the pier and caught a lunker that took off and spun out most of the line. He fought it for awhile and managed to get it close to the pier but then it dashed against the sharp oysters and cut the line. Dang. Never did see what it was. Fun though! Also caught a small flounder there. Good fun fishing there.
We met the neighbors in the small cottage next door on the last night. They are super fun and nice. Fun to talk to and have a beer with. All in all a great experience. Would love to see more of the owner's personality in the house. There are no decorations or art so it's a little barren feeling.
David did leave his fishing pole there for guests to use. There's no reel though. Enjoy!!
We had a wonderful time! There were 7 of us, all adults, and there was plenty of room for all and the house is lovely. We loved walking out onto the dock every morning and evening and enjoyed the beautiful view! We even caught a few crabs which we promptly threw back. Great time! I would recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a fun, peaceful and beautiful get away!
This was our first time to the area and we LOVED it! There was so much to do and nothing to do. Our girls loved fishing off the dock (caught all sorts of fish) and crabbing of course. The current was pretty strong so glad we didn't rent kayaks which we thought we were going to do (though it did make it bug free..bonus!) We did a kayak tour down the road which was fabulous. We loved going to Hunting Island to the beach (the girls did not like coffin point..you really need to drive..it is 3/4 of a mile which in the heat was too far for us..it was HOT) We also volunteered at Hunting Island for the turtle rescue which was a great experience.
We really enjoyed the house and the location was perfect for us! It is right in the middle of all there is to do in the area. The shared dock wasn't an issue..the other family was really nice and we hung out together on the 4th to see fireworks.
A couple of things would have made it perfect (though not a big deal) stools for the counter in the kitchen so there is a place to eat besides the dining room and new pots and pans (the ones there are awful..we love to cook so it made it very difficult) Not all of the burners on the stove worked either. Otherwise it was great! (We will bring our own pans next year and knives) There is a new cookie sheet there as I left ours by mistake :)
It is a wonderful house with great owners..can't wait to go back!
Thanks again to Pam and Morgan for letting the rest of the world enjoy this beautiful home. This is our second time staying here and hopefully not the last.
We came with just 4 people last year and wanted to take a family vacation this year. I looked to the house that I knew would accommodate and fulfill that need. It didn't disappoint. The house was full this time and still had plenty of room.
The crabbing, which I was happy with last year (caught 8 overnight), was drastically better this year. In a day and a half we caught over 60. Placed back about 20 of them and still came in with 48. Chicken back from Publix is the key. Only cost about 2.50 for 2 packs. Well worth it.
Everyone that stayed with us fell in love with the house and it's amenities. Having the Hunting Island Pass really helped.
Looking forward to returning next year and many in the future.
This is the second time we have rented this property. The stay was amazing once again. From relaxing on the dock to walking to the private beech for a swim everything was perfect. In a few minutes you can be on the beech at Hunting Island or at a road side stand which sells fresh seafood. We were able to catch all sorts of fish from the dock along with crab, for my son this was the best part. I would not hesitate recommending staying here as we are already planning a return trip.
Crabbing, shrimping, clamming, nearby Hunting Island State park (free pass), fresh seafood
