Overview

Northern Michigan House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-10)

Charming 3 bedroom/2 bath home on Suttons Bay with deck and private sandy beach with 232 feet of frontage. Very secluded, sleeps 10. Completely furnished, including grill, patio furniture, washer and dryer, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and French press, dishwasher, towels and linens. A dock, canoe, kayak, and an offshore swim raft are available for your enjoyment. Also has Wi-Fi internet access at no extra charge. No smoking or pets please.

The three bedrooms are all of good size; two have queen beds, and the third bedroom has two XL twin beds in it. All new bedding sets for 2012, new queen beds for 2013. All new flooring in 2015. Two full bath rooms with towels are included for your convenience, as well as a full size washer and dryer. All major appliances are new for 2013. An open kitchen and dining/living room area with large windows overlooking the sparkles on the water will leave you breathless!

A great waterfront home in a great location!

Take a short stroll north along the beach to the Raftshol Vineyard's Wine Tasting Room, mention Chris sent you, and the first bottle is on me! While you are there, sample their many flavorful award winning vintages.

Need to stay plugged-in while on vacation? Use our free Wi-Fi internet access.

Have a boat? Tie up to our secure mooring, and use our dock and canoe for access. Of course, the canoe is also available for guests without a boat! We also provide a kayak and an offshore swim raft.

Very secluded and private location - the north side of the property is adjacent to wooded undeveloped farm property. The house is about 150 heavily wooded yards east of M-22 - creating a pleasant and welcome buffer from the road (which is not visible from the house). The property is on the water and has direct access to the waterfront - no roads or other barriers to cross. The beach is 17 stair steps below the house/deck. As you stroll the beach, watch for the bald eagle nests in the treetops along the shoreline.

Beach conditions: The beach features a newly installed 65' x 20' sand area that provides plenty of room to relax and enjoy the waterfront. In other areas along the 232 feet of frontage, the sandiness/rockiness of the beach varies from year to year, depending on the water level, winter ice and storms, etc. It is typically a mixture of smooth pebbles and sand. The beach also has a nice fire pit with a large sitting log for your summer bonfire parties!

Located next to a vineyard, and just 2.5 miles north of Suttons Bay, this charming home has so much to offer and couldn't have a better location or view. Aside from the 28 vineyards in Leelanau County, this home is only a few miles from the Leelanau Sands Casino, and close to local farm markets, shopping, dining, art galleries and all of the many other attractions of the picturesque Leelanau peninsula.

The area hosts many activities; including the Cherry Festival and other local festivals, arts and crafts shows, concerts in the park, casinos, wineries, the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes (a must), performances at the Interlochen Arts Academy and the Opera House; you're certain to stay as busy or as relaxed as you want to be.

Enjoy charter fishinig boats, catamaran sunset cruises, parasailing (for those who are brave), jet-ski rentals, hot-air balloon rides, our local markets, cherry picking (and other fruits depending upon the season), and hiking trails.

Looking to golf? Perfect area for that! Fantastic golf courses surround Traverse City. Want to go fishing? Look no further. Shopping? How about a large mall, an outlet mall, and amazing local shops to find that special treasure. The dining is also fabulous, and we have amazing local chefs that will prepare scrumptious meals that you`ll want to tell your friends and family about, not to mention the many restaurants with gorgeous waterfront views.

Cancellation Policy: If Renter wishes to cancel his/her reservation, reservation deposits, rents and taxes are non-refundable unless the vacancy can be filled at the same rate. Partial refunds will be made if the vacancy can be filled at a lower rate, to the extent that the total rent collected exceeds the original rate. In addition, all cancellations are subject to a $100 rebooking fee. If you must cancel your reservation, we will do our best to rebook.

Why Chris Lange chose Northern Michigan

The property was part of the Raftshol family cherry orchard when my grandparents and great-grandparents were alive. The cherry orchard has become Raftshol Vineyards, owned and operated by my Uncle Warren.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Chris,

I just wanted to say how much we all enjoyed the 'cabin'. It exceeded my expectations! I was very pleased at the contents provided. I have a week at a time share and your house certainly was as nice.

I know that you are in contact with Doug, but I just wanted to let you know my thoughts as well.

Beautiful, spotless, and comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful property. I had been to many parts of northern Michigan but never to the Leelanau Peninsula, and it was just breathtaking - one of the prettiest places I've ever been. This was a perfect place to see the area from. We loved the living room views and the sounds of the waves coming through the windows, and watching the sunrise from the bedrooms. The house was incredibly clean and the kitchen was nicely appointed (tea kettle, toaster oven). It was super convenient to cider/wine tasting, restaurants in Suttons Bay, and a slightly longer but stunning drive (through orchards and vineyards) to Fishtown and Sleeping Bear Dunes. It was just private and quiet and lovely. We were sad to leave and I would definitely stay here again!

We loved the well appointed and spotlessly clean home we rented on Suttons Bay. We are already talking about our stay for next year! Actually, another group of friends has asked me to look into the rental availability for October. The owner was wonderful to work with and I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the property. In fact, Chris, where did you get those mattresses and what kind are they....extremely comfortable! Easy access to everything and the process was easy.

Owner's Response: We're so glad that your group had such a great stay Marilyn! We love the beds as well - they are the best mattresses that I have ever slept on and many of our guests have commented about how much they like them. They are Novaform Serafina mattresses that we purchased at Costco.com. We look forward to your next visit!

What a GREAT rental property. The house was spotless with very nice furnishings and updates. Short travel to shopping, golf, restaurants, and a casino right up the road. We highly recommend this home for anyone looking to enjoy some time up north and still have all the comforts of home. The owner, Chris is a pleasure to do business with, he really goes the extra mile to insure that you have a pleasant stay. we will definitely be planning a return stay with him.

This is a great location near Sutton Bay for restaurants and all. Easy drive to the Sleeping Bear Dunes and all. It is an older home but updated and very clean with great beds. The view is awesome. If I came back to the area, I would definitely rent this home.

Outstanding.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here during our trip to Traverse City for our sons wedding. Upon arrival we were pleasantly suprized at how modern and spotlessly clean the house was. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay here from our bonfires on the beach to the quite mornings on the deck watching the wildlife. We've stayed at many places up north but none nicer than this. Chris is a pleasure to do business with. We will definitely make this our place to stay in the future.

Unspoiled Beauty, do I have to leave?

  • 5 of 5

Thank you, for renting out this treasure! It is not easy to find a place on "nice" water that is private too. This place is reasonably priced, secluded, and has everything that one would need to enjoy a vacation we feel it is a rare find! It was obvious to us that the owners took the time & planning to make this cottage a treat for their guests. We do not need anything fancy to enjoy ourselves. It is a simple, clean beach inspired home that does not pretend to be more than it is. The description and the pictures are accurate. It is a comfortable and bright place that has amenities such as quality appliances, comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. It is cheerful and thoughtfully decorated. It has extra little touches that I personally enjoyed such as a toaster oven, electric tea kettle, good blender, quality sheets, blankets and pillows. There were many little things which I really appreciated and have not always found at other rentals. We rented a Pontoon boat, and I was caught short not having planned for containers to put our food in. I thought no, not the store again, but to my delight, I searched and there they were, the perfect ones to pack our lunches in! Great planning I thought to myself about the owners. I want to also compliment the housekeeper who obviously takes pride in doing a great job! The house was spotless and shiny! There is a very sturdy and practical shelving unit in the laundry room that really helps to keep belongings and functions from the outside tidy. The owner Chris was in touch just the right amount, to explain how to operate and care for things in home and on beach so that we had great communications with him. This was a very good thing so to speak and Chris was sincere, courteous, helpful and prompt. The Bay and area VERY BEAUTIFUL. You will need water shoes and be prepared to take your time getting used to the water temperature. There are large rounded stones in water untill over my 5 ft hgt. It is truly incredible water very clear and each morning noon and night there is a new masterpiece, right out side your door to marvel over. I suggest natural insect repellent for outside as any nature area needs. This is a water lover's, nature person's area and home. Along with nature comes responsibility and a different kind of luxury! If that makes sense to you I highly recommend the area. If not perhaps you have an opportunity for new adventure. Also make sure you tie up the boats properly. Hope to return to this little paradise blessings..
