Even the most experienced travelers marvel at how close Lamar Valley Cabins are to the greatest wildlife viewing the in world.

See the wolf packs of the Lamar Valley, view herds of bison and elk, and spot mountain goats, big horn sheep, grizzly bears, and countless other creatures a few short minutes away.

In the winter enjoy world class back-country skiing and snowmobiling! Enjoy the trails in Cooke City on your sled during the day, but come home to quiet Silver Gate at night.

At Lamar Valley Cabin you can start your days in the private, quiet, wood paneled breakfast nook. Gaze at 360 degree views of two spectacular mountain peaks while sipping your morning coffee.

As guests and family awaken and wander downstairs, enjoy plenty of space and seating as you make breakfast in the gourmet kitchen and get organized for the day.

Adding to the warm character of the large main room downstairs are two bedrooms upstairs furnished with wooden antique headboards and dressers. Queen beds in each.

Privacy and separation from the main living area, these bedrooms have a shared marble-tiled full bathroom and generous shower head with unlimited hot water.

The favorite place to sleep is in the ultra cozy foam double bed perched next to the picture window at the top of the stairs. From here visitors get lost in the unique, lofty views of Amphitheater Peak

Sleep two additional children or guests in the pull out bed in the sofa downstairs.

No need to over-pack - enjoy access to our LG washer and dryer!

Peace of mind is had by all as this cabin offers free unlimited long distance phone service as well as free wireless internet. Also, our friendly managers are right across the street, so anything extra you may they can get for you quickly.

Finally, you asked and we listened! This spring Jeff and I are building an outdoor grilling/seating area! If you are lucky, you can see mountain goats from the back yard and get a personal view of Jackson, the town bison who loves our backyard.

Awesome!

The cabin is wonderful and the little town is so great! My son loved the "kids nook" under the stairs. The Beartooth Highway is close by and a must-see. If you like to fish, the creek across the street is great. For breakfast we loved Bearclaw Bakery in Cooke City. It was really nice to have a huge kitchen and washer/dryer. We will be back!

Awesome Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four spent 4 great nights in the Lamar Cabin in Silver Gate during our visit to YNP. The cabin is comfortable, well supplied, quiet, and very enjoyable. We slept with the windows open and could hear the babbling mountain stream across the road. There is very little in that area at night and had no issues with traffic noise. The Silver Gate community is wonderfully rustic and the folks we ran into and met were very friendly. We really enjoyed having a washer/dryer on site. We did not cook in but all the utensils and pots/pans were available if needed. In previous years we stayed in West Yellowstone and Gardiner, but loved the location of the Lamar Cabin. A bit remote but is there a better way to start and end each day than a drive through Lamar Valley?? I highly recommend the Lamar cabin for its location as well as the quality of the cabin and the amenities.

Incredible location and amentites!

  • 5 of 5

this was a stop for our family of six during a three week journey around Montana and Wyoming. and the amazing drive right out the front door into Yellowstone's Lamar valley often made our 'commuting' back and forth to the other areas of the park better than the actual destination area! i will say it was a joy to find everything we could possibly need. plenty of pots/pans, dishes and utensils in the kitchen! after seeing how complete it was we actually opted to cook in instead of dining out. the two huge bedrooms and the nook bed meant all had plenty of space. the extra 1/2 bath downstairs meant others could bath without feeling they were 'hogging' the bath. the wide open downstairs gave everyone more than ample room to spread out and regroup before moving on. Adding the laundry equipment in made it a joy to pack away clean clothing instead of having to fly with dirty things. and when it all was done we sat on the deck with a glass of wine and enjoyed watching the wildlife walk on the hills right in front of us. we cannot say how please we were to have shared this lovely home for our stay- it would be difficult to find better!

Big Cabin in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderfully appointed, comfortable place to stay for 4 adults, close to Yellowstone and Cooke City. I especially liked having a WASHER/DRYER when we got caught in the rain. We never cooked in; instead ate at 2 marvelous places - Miners Saloon in Cooke City and The Log Cabin Café across the street.

My one complaint is that at $265. a night one should not have to drive the bagged trash to the dump 3 miles away. Check-out was at 10am and the Dump does not open till noon! I would also suggest that basics like paper towels, alum foil be supplied. The house was very well supplied with linens and was spotlessly clean.

All in all, we loved our stay and highly recommend it.

excellent cabin

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in the big cabin for 4 days in July while visiting/fishing in the park. Cabin is beautiful, with ample space for 4 fishermen. 2 full bedrooms, 1 solo bed, and a pull out couch. Huge island kitchen with s/s appliances and everything you'd need to cook. Was excellent for dinner one night when it was raining. When its not rainy, enjoy the beautiful deck and grill and eat outside. Plenty of towels, sheets etc, making the trip very easy. Very convenient, less than a mile from the NE entrance. Owner was a pleasure to work with. Would recommend this cabin to anyone, and personally would not stay anywhere else around the NE entrance. Highly recommended.

Perfect for our family get together

  • 5 of 5

Room for all six of us and having two bathrooms was great. The kitchen was user friendly and there was plenty of space for the food we brought. The dishwasher saved time for visiting the park. Close access makes an early entry and staying in the park late for wolf watching easy. Beds were comfortable with plenty of bedding and lots of towels for morning showers. My wife did not want to leave. You can't go wrong.
