About The Owner

I came down to Nosara for a surf camp back in 2001 and fell in love with the beauty of the area and the people. It took several years and trips to Nosara before i clued in to actually buy my own plot of dirt and even longer to build my home. I finally finished in late 2009. When i am not in Nosara honing my surfing, salsa and Spanish skills, I am dreaming of blue skies and warm water from my home in Denver, Colorado. I hope you enjoy your stay at my home and all that Costa Rica has to offer!

The Owner purchased this villa in 2009

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

We have been vacationing in Costa Rica since the mid 80's and been to Nosara before but this was our first time in this beautiful home! Tucked away in the hills gave us plenty privacy and put us in the middle of the jungle with plenty of wildlife to see.

The house was very well appointed, very clean and well kept. The pool was beautiful and had magnificent views of the ocean and sunset. On previous visits to Nosara, we would go down to the beach to watch the sunset every night but with the amazing views from the house, we only went to the beach for sunset two out of our 11 nights!

Just a quick 5 minute drive to town and the beach!

We loved this house so much that we will be willing to change the dates of our trip next time if necessary to stay at this house.

I miss Nosara and this awesome home! We stayed in a couple of places when we were in Nosara and this house was by far the best. We found that being up in Las Huacas area also referred to as the EE section is the way to go. You have the most amazing view of the entire Guiones beach and its just a short drive down the hill. Best choice we made. The house is so clean and has everything you need. The beds, pillows and linens were the best we had. The appointment of the rooms were perfect for our family. The two bedrooms upstairs were great my 5 year old daughter slept in one room and we were right across the hallway in the other room. The finishes were amazing. Beautiful tall ceilings, all the lights had dimmer switches so the lighting was perfect no matter what time of day. There's a great bar around the kitchen so it was easy to cook and still be connected not only to people but, to the amazing view which you had from pretty much ever area in the house. We are definitely going back to Nosara and I would love nothing more than to stay in Ellen's home. Thanks so much for sharing!! If you want suggestions on food. So many amazing spots to eat in Nosara. You really can't go wrong. Our favs were La Luna (on the beach awesome sunsets), Gilded Iguana, Kaya Sol, Beach Dog Cafe (now open for dinner), Burgers and Beers (connected is also sushi), Le Creperie, El Chivo (mexican), Seekret Spot (gelato) and Harmony Hotel for smoothies, juices and fantastic drinks and meals. I highly recommend Nosara for all the fun activities too. Agua Tibia has a great kids surf camp, we also used Surfing Nosara for lessons, Miss Sky for zip line and spent a lot of time at the Yoga Institute and Harmony Hotel for drop in yoga classes.

Thanks again for everything.

Fantastic Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5

Our second stay at this beautiful private hilltop retreat. Lovely, spacious, well stocked house with awesome pool and deck. The ocean views are endless and the breezes amazing. Sunset happy hours and napping in the hammock on the covered patio were so relaxing. Especially enjoyed poolside bird watching and hearing howler monkeys. Close to the playa and amenities, but secluded and secure. Can't wait to return!

Best view in Nosara!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for 9 days of heaven. The view was the best in town. Everything about this place was perfect. We rented a jungle cart which got us up and down the hill just fine, it was a blast! We cannot wait to come back, we want to tell all our friends about this place but want to keep it all to ourselves!!!! If you have any doubts about if this is the place you want to rent, don't hesitate! You wont be disappointed!

Beautiful home, stunning views!

  • 4 of 5

First, the owner was an absolute pleasure to deal with- very quick and responsive and made us feel like we were staying in a friend's home, even leaving some food and beer in the fridge for us- thank you!

The house is in my opinion in the best area to stay- away from the busy town (read, quiet and private), but with quick access to the beaches and restaurants (5-10 minute drive to anywhere). Yes you need a jeep ( or 4x4) to get up the hill, and down the path, but the view once you get there is so worth it.

The monkeys came to visit us every day and we never got tired of watching them (and listening, they are loud!) eat in the trees surrounding the house. Tons of geckos (inside and out) but we learned to love them and they took care of the mosquitos. We also saw the resident iguana on the property, a pizote, and dozens of beautiful birds.

A few scorpions in the house, but after talking to several people that live in the area we learned that they are quite common (and are no worse than a bee sting, fortunately we did not have to find out for ourselves)

The pool was beautiful and the view stunning. The house has ample security and we never felt unsafe or had any problems.

Comfortable beds with nice linens and nicely decorated. The bedrooms all have a/c but the main rooms do not, some of us were fine with that, some would have preferred more a/c for some of those hot evenings- but it's the jungle!

I would sum it up as jungle elegance.

Owner's Response: Just a note that i had repair work done on the road leading to the house in August 2013. The need for 4WD will depend on the season - that is, during the wet season you would likely want to be in a 4WD, while the dry season you can get along fine in 2WD. Note that all of the roads in Nosara are dirt.

Great home with a beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

This house is in great shape and was perfect for 3 couples. The view is spectacular and sunsets sitting in the pool overlooking the bay were a definite highlight of the trip. The house is well stocked and had everything we needed for cooking on our own including a BBQ, which was great. One thing I would say though is that the house is up on the hill and you will have to drive to the beach and into town (rent a 4x4!). We enjoyed being a bit removed from the "busier" part of town but it's something you should be aware of. Otherwise we had an amazing time and would definitely rent this house again.
