Private Lakeside Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Bath, (Sleeps 6)
Rainbow Lake Lodge is a completely private cabin home on its own spacious lot on a lake in Willow, Alaska. The living area is on the second floor giving guests a panoramic view of the surrounding birch tree forest and beautiful Rainbow Lake. There are two bedrooms upstairs each with a queen size bed and a downstairs bedroom with two twin size beds. There is a full kitchen and the bathroom offers you all the comforts of home.
In the summer there are three docks in different locations along our 1,000 feet of shoreline which gives our guests the opportunity to enjoy the sun as it moves across the sky. We have a short walking trail which winds its way through the property passing our flower and vegetable gardens ending at our gazebo.
Our cabin has two large decks which overlook the lake. Our neighbors on the lake are mainly here on the weekends so if you stay with us during the week you might have the lake mostly to yourself. We have no neighbors that are visable across the lake from the guest cabin which gives you unobstructed views of the Alaska wilderness. There is no public access to the lake so only property owners have access. The lake varies from absolute silence most of the time on week days to busy with watercraft enjoying the long Alaska days during the weekend.
We only have one rental on the property so you will not have to share your cabin with any other guests. We have our own cabin on the neighboring property and are always available to answer questions or assist in making your stay an excellent experience. Free WiFi.
Rainbow Lake Lodge is located on Rainbow Lake in the heart of the Matanuska Susitna Valley, between Anchorage and Denali National Park, bordering on the Nancy Lake Recreational Area Park in Willow, the home of the Iditarod Sled dog Race restart. There are many summer recreational options. Fishing, hiking, boating, 4 wheeling, flightseeing (Mt McKinley glacier landings), touring the historic Independence gold mine, dogsled demonstrations, sightseeing and more.
Our beautiful property offers an excellent chance to just relax and enjoy the loons calling and the occasional moose, bear, or smaller wildlife that does wander by. The area is well known for its excellent fishing with Willow Creek offering salmon, trout and grayling fishing. Guided trips can be arranged. Fly out trips for flight seeing and fishing can also be arranged.

About Steve or Sharon Wells
Steve and Sharon are long time Alaskans. We have been bringing our family and friends to the lake since 1978. We built both the vacational rental and our separate Log Cabin Lodge and spend as much time here as we can. Steve is retired from the State of Alaska, has been a pilot, registered hunting guide, enjoys fishing, snow machining, and is a veteran. Sharon operates her own business in Anchorage as a Registered Guardian.
Steve or Sharon Wells purchased this Cabin in 1992
Why Steve or Sharon Wells chose Willow
We choose this area because it is conveniently located just an hour and half driving time from Anchorage, on a lake with a south facing view, on well maintained roads, with all the conveniences and far enough away to be on the edge of a wilderness type setting.

We had a fantastic time visiting Alaska. Thanks to Steve and his wife for addressing any needs or concerns , and going out of their way to welcome us in and feel at home. Beautiful property that is a must visit!!
Always a pleasure having such nice guests, hope to see you and the family in the future.
Very quiet and peaceful
It was surprisingly quiet even though there are neighboring houses. It had nice docks. If you had your own kayak or something that you could take out on the lake that would be nice. I didn't go at the right time for fishing but horse back riding out of Palmer was great. Steve made sure we had what we needed and helped us with any tips on what to see. I wanted a pretty low key vacation and it was great for that. Cabin is very nice. Has what you need and is a good escape from technology. Little phone service and no internet.
Spacious, comfortable, private.
My husband, 13-year-old son, and I spent three nights at Rainbow Lodge at the end of July. We would happily return! I knew the cabin (house!) would be more space than we needed, but what a treat! Steve has everything perfectly appointed. We definitely needed more time for the cabin, the lake, and the area at large. The beds and linens were so comfortable, and the outdoor amenities--deck, chairs, paddle boat, beautiful property, etc.--added to the enjoyment of our stay. We took Steve's advice to rent canoes from Tippecanoe in the Nancy Lakes Rec Area, and the canoe loop was one of the highlights of our trip.
Cozy and clean
This was a cozy, clean, quiet, peaceful place to stay. If you are looking for fancy pants, this is not it but it was perfect for what we wanted - and most importantly it was nice and clean and had comfy beds! It was nice to know that the owner was close in case any thing went wrong.
Clean lodge overlooking a beautiful lake. We enjoyed hearing the loons every morning. Very helpful and gracious owner. We highly recommend.
You will not be disappointed!!!
I have stayed in my fair share of VRBO's over the years and generally have been pleased. This VRBO rental has been exceptional. The location is exactly what you are looking for if you want a quiet cabin in the woods on a lake. There were many times that I went out of the upper deck and absolutely could not hear anything, total silence. Once the weekend came the activity picked up but did not affect the experience. Steve was a very active owner and lives next door in another cabin and is very hospitable. No Wi Fi at the cabin but you can get it at the local library. Cell phone and texting were fine on roaming.
