About Helen Edley

Chris and Helen Edley live in Victoria BC, on Canada's west coast. Chris has spent many years living on the east coast and they love the beautiful south coast of PEI. They own a graphic design company, which, in addition to designing and producing interpretive signs for parks, also supports the international geocaching community with products and services through 'We hope that all our guests have a wonderful and memorable holiday and enjoy exploring PEI as much as we do'.

Helen Edley purchased this cottage in 2009

Why Helen Edley chose Prince Edward Island

After some memorable and relaxing family vacations in this area Chris and Helen decided they needed a vacation home to use themselves and to share with others in one of their favorite holiday destinations. With one son in the air force, they felt that the cottage would be somewhere he could visit and relax and get some 'home away from home' during his long postings away from family.

What makes this cottage unique

We like to start off with a Cows Ice Cream! You can get them on the ferry, in Borden when you cross the bridge or in Charlottetown on the pier! We have personal flavor favorites but we won't sway you - try them all! It's wonderful to spend the morning geocaching and/or exploring the island, then come back to the cottage for a late lunch before packing your towel for a relaxing afternoon on the warm sandy beach. The cottage is so close, you can slip back for a afternoon snack or a fresh towel... The 800 sq' deck overlooks the beach and is a magical place to dine, relax or just sleep! With almost half an acre at your disposal, you can set up a net and play some badminton or just enjoy the privacy of the property.

Wonderful home away from home

  • 4 of 5

This was the perfect cottage for our family in PEI. The owners were wonderful about allowing us a last minute booking and it was so nice to have beach access within walking distance of the cottage. Truly a wonderful cottage to stay at. We would stay here again as it was really good starting point for places like Charlottetown, Stanley Bridge and Cavendish and Confederation Bridge!

We enjoy your place very much. Is was just perfect for our family of four.

My son played a lot in the red sand. It was sunny but the little sea breeze make it very comfortable.

An East Coast Paradise

  • 5 of 5

The Maritimes are the perfect place to unwind, disconnect and get away from the day-to-day doldrums of big city life on the mainland. I used to visit every year as a kid, but never truly appreciated the experience until this summer, and this cottage is the perfect place to do that.

We arrived late in the afternoon, unpacked the groceries we’d purchased in town, and headed straight for the beach. There are miles of beach to walk and explore in both directions. Our only issue would be with the most direct path to the beach. We found it to be a little treacherous, as it was quite rocky. A quick walk through the field behind the cottage, and we found a path to the beach which was much easier to navigate.

The cottage is well-maintained, clean, tidy and cozy. The ability to do laundry was well-appreciated, as this allowed us more time to get out and explore this island paradise. The location of the cottage allows for easy trips into Cornwall, Charlottetown or virtually anywhere on the island.

We look forward to staying again, possibly bringing more family members who couldn’t make the trip this time out. Our experience with the owners was everything we'd hoped for and then some. I would gladly recommend this rental to any friends or family looking to visit Prince Edward Island.

South Shore Heaven

  • 5 of 5

This little piece of heaven on Prince Edward Island's south shore was the perfect place to spend our vacation. From the moment we drove up and unlocked the door we realized it was even better than it's pictures, we were in love!

The views are spectacular from the inside and outside, even with a few cottages in front of it. Each cottage is spaced so far apart that it feels very private. We were actually amazed that it was so quiet.

We loved watching the tide go out in the bay, from the huge deck and listening to the waves crash the shore as the tide came in. When the tide was out we were able to explore for miles. So although there is not an actual beach here, there is sand that goes on forever and many shallow pools of water, while the tide is out.

The cottage is so clean and well taken care of. It has everything you can think of that you might need. I loved having a washer & dryer on site. As we were there in early September we had a couple cool evenings, it was nice to be able to turn on the fireplace to take the chill out of the cottage.

The close proximity to several golf courses was excellent. I would suggest Countryview Golf Course as the best in the area. If you are wanting ocean views while you tee off then Glen Afton Golf Course is the one! Both courses are extremely affordable.

We would recomend Maggies in North River or Brit's Fish & Chips if you are looking for excellent fish & chips. The best donairs on the island can be had at Pizza Delight- located just in Cornwall. We tried donair egg rolls from Dino's Pizza on University Ave in Charlottetown- excellent!

Booking the cottage was so simple, we did everything through email. The owners provided answers to all my questions.

We loved the Glenshore Cottage and have already recommended it to our family & friends!

Thanks for the memories, looking forward to another visit soon!
