Mark grew up in the next town over, met Mary (who grew up in Buffalo, NY) in college (Johnson & Wales University, RI)…& following college we came back to this area to settle! We love the cool mountain nights, the comfortable days, & the natural beauty of the area, & the close proximity to 'stuff'!!
Mary Crouthamel purchased this house in 1995
This property is just off the beating path, quiet, & has a pretty brook that flows thru in the summer. It's so nice to listen to in the morning while drinking a cup of coffee & reading the paper on the front porch!
The greatest benefit is that you can take lots of short day trips to the lake, beach, Costa's, ice cream places, etc, stop back home for a little quiet time, & then head out just a couple of miles to dinner…coming home afterwards to either a campfire in the chiminea, or a soak in the hot tub. You can have all the daytime excitement…& then head home to wind down with your own evening routine - a glass of wine, popcorn & a movie, or to curl up with a great summer read while the exhausted kiddos slumber! ;)
My wife and I rented this property for our anniversary weekend and it was just perfect.
Location was as advertised, very quiet, and the hot tub very relaxing.
The owner was very responsive and helpful throughout our experience.
Would rent again.
Great place! Loved the location, the desk with grill, the fire pit and especially the hot tub. The house was very clean and had everything we needed and the owners were great to work with an very accommodating. We are renting again in October, can't wait to go back. We've rented many mountain homes and this was out favorite.
Had a great stay, the house has everything you need. Also, is very kid friendly. Owners were always quick to respond and easy to work with.
What a great home! We enjoyed every min of it and we are already thinking about booking it again next year!!
The house was great, just right for the six of us from 3 generations of our family!
I wish I could show you the collage I made of pictures we took! You know ,"One picture is worth..." We wanted a place where we could be close to Lake Wallenpaupack, and take the 1974 Renken boat, that "Pop" rebuilt, out on the water. Meadowbrook Road is convenient to the "Wally" Lake public access, the Visitors Center, a Catholic Church, Earhardt's Restaurant, AND it gives a nice private home atmosphere. We got to enjoy ourselves on the Lake ( boating, swimming, fishing), and at Costa's Family Fun park ,and at a local target range. Then, we could "come home", and really relax and enjoy being at the house: cooking out on the deck, lighting campfires, soaking in the hot tub,
swinging in the tree swing, We could be close to nature without giving up TV or the internet, or a microwave when we wanted it. We had all the convenience of a timeshare in a much more peaceful environment. And, I doubt that the price could be more reasonable! Thanks, Mark and Mary!
We have had a great vacation this year. The house is big and very well equipped with nice porch and place around the house big enough for our children to play, run and biking. I could say it's very safety place for small children. It's quiet around and neighbors are very polite and helpful. We really enjoyed our time in hot tub staring at the stars.
The owners are very nice and respond quickly. You just call them with any questions you could have and get answers right away.
I could honestly say that it's the best summer house we ever rented.
Although we have stayed there for 2 weeks, there wasn't enough time to see and enjoy the beautiful parks and areas around. We think to come back next year.
