The secluded cottage is located at the end of a 1/2 mile long, one-track, private gravel road. Road goes through beautifully wooded acres, past 2 other cottages, and culminates is a large sunny meadow where this cottage is situated.

Three steps down from the entry to the cottage leads to a large open concept living area with a cathedral ceiling, a mid-century fireplace, cable TV, WiFi, and DVD player, lots of windows, a fully equipped, updated kitchen with an island, and a deck with fabulous views of Lake Michigan with its gorgeous sunsets.

If you feel the need for more activity venture out to the many nearby attractions. Fifteen minutes away is Silver Lake, with its dune buggy rentals and rides, go carts, arcade games and mini golf. Also enjoy golfing at 4 local courses; horseback riding at Rainbow Ranch; wine tastings at nearby Fox Barn Winery (; browsing quaint shops and galleries in Pentwater; touring the Country Dairy Farm; biking on the Hart-Monteque trail; tubing and a playground at Stony Lake; visiting White Pine Village in Ludington, Great Adventure Amusement and Water Parks in Muskegon, and the JJRanch in New Era.

Phone is available for local and domestic long distance calls. Cell service is intermittent at the cottage, but service is generally better outside on the driveway.

Lake Michigan au Natural

  • 5 of 5

The cottage had everything that we needed. There were beach chairs, towels & blankets.

The grill included the tools, matches and plenty of charcoal. I was thinking that 1300 ft square maybe a little tight for 6 of us. However the floor plan was perfect. The kids loved thier own penthouse and view of the lake. We enjoyed the fresh cherries from Cherry Point Farms and the maple syrup.

With only 30 stairs and 200 or so foot steps we found the private beach to be so secluded. The lake was different wach day. Some days extreme waves and others the water was so calm and clear. We enjoyed the wildflower books and our discovery of Indians Pipe on our walk on the near by state land. A walk to the light house was our best family adventure. The game boards were handy on day 5. We love taking home our souvenir driftwood and beach pebbles that we clarefully hand selected.

The only recommendations for this well kept property is having an extra bathroom rug/mat available so the it can dry out. Potentially grinding the the handful of tree stumps on the pathway to the beach as one of our older guests had tripped and fallen down during low light conditions. Thankfully without inhury.

Owner's Response: Thanks very much for taking the time to write your review. I'm glad you and your family were comfortable in the cottage and found what you needed. Also happy that you explored the surrounding area; as you may know Indian Pipe is a very rare and unique plant, someone in your group had sharp eyes to spot it. As for your recommendations, I will certainly add another bath mat; and I will look into grinding the tree stumps along the path, but as I'm sure you can appreciate, getting heavy equipment down there would be very difficult; perhaps solar lights along the path would suffice. I'm sorry your guest tripped, but thankfully they weren't injured. Thanks again for your thoughtful review, and I hope that you and your family will return, there's lots to explore in the area.

Privacy, privacy, privacy!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for seclusion, a private beach and the sound of silence, this is the place for you! Well equipped kitchen, great location.

Do keep an eye on the forecast though. We were caught off guard by the cold the last week of August (66 high, 42 low) and froze during the night. This is a summer property, so it's built to keep you cool, not warm. So if you see a bizarre forecast, take that into account and bring your own blankets!

Good communications with Tim Horton and we loved the book of tips left by the owner. You'll have plenty of time to snuggle with your family here.

Perfect for a Romantic Getaway

  • 5 of 5

A little slice of heaven. My wife and I spent a lovely week here. As advertised, the beach is private, and if you want (and we did frequently) Little Sable Point Lighthouse is just a stroll down the beach. The surrounding woods and roads offer a nice break from the beach, and we enjoyed our walk past a peach orchard. The accommodations were just right, too. No unpleasant surprises, which we'd run into with other rentals. The nearest grocery is a little far away, so stock up before you arrive. There are, however, great roadside markets closeby that sell fresh produce and baked goods. You'll be hard pressed to find better pies! We'll definitely be coming back.

Incredible beach and views!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cottage for a week last July and it was everything we wanted! The most incredible part by far was the huge private beach. My two kids absolutely loved playing in the sand and swimming in the lake. The water was clear and shallow and we spent most of the week camped out down there, occasionally taking walks to the nearby lighthouse. The cottage itself was very comfortable/clean and fairly updated. There was ample room for the five of us. Another big plus was the long deck with views of the water. We didn't end up leaving the property that much except for a night of dinner, mini golf, and go-karts in Silver Lake. If you are looking for a lot of "fine dining" out, this is probably not the place, but if you want a beautiful pristine beach and woods for hiking, then you'll be quite happy here. One thing to know: it is pretty remote, so be prepared for a big dose of "urban escape."

I would definitely recommend this place!!
