About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)

If you’re interested in exploring the “green” side of the Green Mountain State, this solar-powered geodesic dome is a completely different Vermont experience. Of course, you’ll still have privacy and the quiet serenity of nature surrounding you. Four downhill ski areas will still be within a forty-minute drive, and the Craftsbury Nordic Center will be ten minutes away with its miles of cross-country skiing.

In the summer, you’ll be a short distance from lakes, rivers, the Canadian border, seven golf courses, the Long Trail for hiking, road biking, mountain biking, fishing, boating, and any outdoor sport you can imagine. Stowe, St. Johnsbury, and Newport, Vermont are all just a short drive away.

warm dome is very cool

  • 5 of 5

We had a long-weekend stay at the Solar Dome. Host Bill was very attentive and accommodating. The frigid Vermont winter, beautiful and snowy, stayed outside: inside, the radiant floor heat and comfortable couch and chairs made our stay feel luxurious. The kitchen is one of the best-appointed of any rental we've visited. Leaving a sampler of Vermont cider in the fridge was an especially nice touch! We'd definitely come back.

Gorgeous Location, Great Hosts

  • 5 of 5

I booked the solar dome for a weekend long photo shoot with multiple clients. Every single client thought the dome was gorgeous and all of them managed to find it with the excellent directions we were given. When a client got stuck in the driveway one evening (note: no other clients got stuck, this one just happened to park in a bad spot), Bill came up to help get the car out and was very sweet about the whole situation.

This location was ideal for the shoot and I'm so thankful to Bill and his wife for allowing me to use the dome for the photo shoot!

Amazing Place

  • 5 of 5

Bill's place is amazing-warm and bright, well furnished kitchen and everything else. He is not kidding about the snow/tire issue in the winter. Several inches of fresh snowfall meant our non-snow tire AWD found it challenging. Next time I will have chains at the ready. Bill was hugely helpful and I would recommend this place to anyone interested.

Winter Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Owner was an exceptional host. The property was secluded, clean, and comfortable. There was an abundance of natural beauty surrounding the property with lots of hiking options around the cabin. An ideal location! it's close enough for a quick run to the store or dining at neighboring restaurants yet still is very secluded from main roads. Property wasn't too remote as there was Excellent WIFI and cell signal. Short drive to glacial lakes and Jay Peak Ski resort. We look forward to visiting again, perhaps in another season. Highly recommend.

Everything we could have hoped for and more!

  • 5 of 5

Our short stay at the dome was fantastic. The entire property is well maintained, unique, and great. Our two year old son loved walking around the property picking red raspberries, blueberries, and cherry tomatoes. The domes feels very spacious and has EVERYTHING you could need in it.

The location is remote and cell service is spotty so be prepared beforehand with directions to all of the places you would like to visit. Internet was perfect at the dome however so you can get all your directions before you leave for the day.

We visited, Hill Farmstead Brewery, The Long Trail, Stowe, and more. All places were within an hr drive or less and the dome.

I hope to make a return in the future!
