The Sea lodges of Cayman Kai are set on a beautiful sandy beach. This condo is only a few feet from the beach and ocean. The beach is protected by a living reef just 150 yards offshore for wonderful snorkeling.
There is a beautiful view of the Caribbean water from the front porch. The waters are always changing colors and the breeze is always there. It is a wonderful place to relax and just watch the ocean.
A ten minute walk down the beach brings you to Rum Point and to a beach bar and grill along with water sports activities at Red Sail Sports including scuba diving, fishing, snorkeling, glass bottom boat rides and the ever popular trips to Sting Ray City.
Grocery shopping is five minutes away and there are four places to eat within a 10 minute drive from the sea lodge.
I have owned this place since 1974. I have enjoyed it with family and friends. It has been recently re-built and is all new for renters to enjoy.
The Owner purchased this condo in 1974
The sea lodge was purchased because of the beautiful view of the ocean and the beach, plus the friendly people on the island. One of the unique features of the Sea Lodge is when you look down the beach you see very few people and can enjoy your privacy.
There are a lot of great things about this Sea Lodge. The only reason I couldn't give it a higher score was that the Wifi was extremely unreliable.
Booking: Dave was very easy to deal with when booking the Sea Lodge. He patiently answered all of my questions. It would be nice, however, if he used PayPal.
Check-in: Check in was a breeze.
-Everything is consistent with the pictures. The view is outstanding. You are literally just a few steps from the beach.
-You can snorkel right off the coast. If you are an expert snorkeler, I'm not sure how it would rate. For me, however, I thought it was magical and have never seen so many fish.
-The owner of the unit next door was very friendly and helpful.
-The bed was very comfortable.
-The unit was clean.
-Washer/dryer were nice to have.
-The Wifi was terrible. The first day, I could not get a connection inside the unit. I had to walk outside. It appears that there is one wireless router that serves the entire complex. Dave's unit is far away from the router and can barely get a signal. At times, I was able to get a decent signal if I sat at the kitchen table. It would not extend farther into the unit. I contacted Dave and the property manager about this. They tried to help but the situation was never completely resolved. If you need internet, I would not recommend staying here until they get a router inside the unit. Poor internet is a deal breaker for me, but if you don't need internet then the positives far outweigh the negatives.
-The first night the AC in the bedroom did not work and it was extremely hot. The property manager promptly had it fixed the following day.
-The living room furniture is not particularly comfortable. Additionally, the patio furniture is worn and needs to be replaced. I was able to enjoy using the furniture, but it is definitely nearing the point where it will be downright uncomfortable.
-I saw quite a few ants in the unit at night. (No, I didn't leave food lying around.) Most of them were not even in the kitchen/dining area.
Bottom line: If you don't need internet, this is an outstanding Sea Lodge with an amazing view. I am confident that Dave will get the internet situation worked out. You also might want to consider location. It was great to be away from the touristy areas, but it got old having to drive a long way to get to restaurants and stores. If you plan to stay in the unit and cook, this shouldn't be an issue.
Amazing location. Oceanfront. Quiet north side of the island. AC for the hot summer months. Snorkeling right out the door! Housekeeping staff most helpful- beyond the ordinary. Owner patiently answered questions quickly and fully, and we had many prior to arriving. Only down side is that the porch in the photo is not covered. Thus, it is quite hot during the day and wet when it rains. Would we stay there again? Absolutely!!
My wife and I stayed there at the end of July for our 1st year anniversary and we could not have picked a better spot on the island. Dave's condo is top notch and is exactly, if not better, then what is posted on the add. Beautiful water views from every room in the condo, closest condo to the water, excellent snorkeling with a reef right off the beach. We had three days on the beach with nobody on it (off season)! Pretty incredible. Every morning we sat on the porch and watched the sunrise come up over the Caribbean ocean. Dave does an awesome job informing his renters about everything on the island and about the condo. He is super helpful with quick responses to email and even researched kayak rental places for us. We highly recommend this place and we hope to go back!
The premises are on the ocean/beach edge and very well kept. Convenient to other activities at Rum Point but still well removed. Very good value!
The perfect place to stay in Grand Cayman! Beautiful beach, great snorkeling, comfortable house with all of the necessities, and of course the perfect place to relax and get away from it all in the quiet area of North Shore. Thanks Dave for sharing your wonderful place for our vacation this year. We will definitely be back someday soon to this tropical paradise away from it all!!!
Wonderful little cottage...very clean, well equiped, very calm and secluded. The property of other lodges was very neat and quiet. The beach is like all yours...nobody there, very clean, calm and of course beautiful. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Also, the owner is tremendously helpful and will respond to any question almost immediately. Great Great Experience!!!
