We are a retired professional couple who moved to FishHook Lake 20 years ago to open a B&B on our property. We had a great time and were featured on the cover of 'Lakes Alive' magazine and in many newspaper articles. When our grandchildren were born we decided to close the B&B and spend more time with family. Now 15 years after we closed the B&B we are offering the private, king sized suite as a room rental only so others can share in the beauty and peace of the Northwoods.
Liz or Phil purchased this lodge in 1996
The Eagles' Nest suite gives visitors an opportunity to experience the Northwoods at it's best. It is private, quiet and restful. Because of the closing of so many of the resorts in the area we recognized that it's difficult for visitors to find a room on a lake that is close to golfing, biking, kayaking and swimming.
When staying in the Eagles' Nest our guests are able to listen to the loons, watch the eagles and other birds. Guests may prepare their morning coffee and enjoy sitting on the private balcony. If they like biking, golfing, kayaking or swimming it is readily available. The suite also offers WiFi, cable flatscreen TV, a hairdryer, a small refrigerator , coffee maker and microwave. Adirondack chairs are on your private deck or down by the lake for guests to sit and relax and watch the sunset!
Our stay at wildwood lodge was everything we were hoping for, upon arriving Liz and & Phil had to deal with a early morning storm that came thru the area, it never impact our stay at all, they were on top of it. The lodge was comfortable & clean and decorated so nice. It was close to restaurants & trails and hometown activities. Enjoy the view of the lake from the shore or from the balcony in our room. Would highly recommend.
Five stars PLUS +++ This was our first time staying at Wildwood's Lodge and it won't be the last! A darling suite with privacy, cleanliness, beauty, charm and so much more. Liz and Phil have the most wonderful personalities and make you feel extremely welcome. Liz could be a professional decorator the suite has been so artfullly done and you can see the love and care she put into every detail of design.
The space is separated into two different areas, one room has a king size bed, two seating areas, a television and master bath with jacuzzi and a deck overlooking the lake. The other room has an additional bathroom, two seating areas, coffee maker, mini frig and microwave, which was convenient when I woke before my husband. Liz has plates, bowls, silverware, coffee cups and wine glasses for your use with gormet coffee (instead of the usual generic hotel pouches!!).
The Heartland Trail is only 1 mile away and we were able to go for a nice run and a bike ride straight from the cabin! Also, Fish Hook lake is gorgeous!!! Sand, sand and more sand. No weeds in sight, wonderful for swimming and sunbathing. My husband took out a complimentary kayak and was able to catch multiple bass, three of which were over 4 lbs (there is a shelf 300 yards west of their cabin).
It was a sad morning knowing we had to leave and we are already planning our second trip. If you want a nice, quiet getaway in a beautiful setting look no further than Wildwood's Lodge. You won't be disappointed and I know when you book this rental you will find it as lovely as we did!!!
Suprised my girlfriend and stayed two nights over weekend in August. First experience using VRBO and was perfect in every way. Liz was extremely kind and found property to be very private and exceptional !! Very close to paved trail for running (or biking), and just outside of town for anything you need. We arrived late Friday night, lights all on for us and just peaceful and private the entire weekend. Bath is a jetted tub... and as we sat on deck, a hummingbird flew right to Inches of my girlfriend. We kept a cooler on deck (elevated )... and slider open all night. Lake was not really busy at all, so quiet !!! The rooms are above a garage, and directions were great. The bed was so comfortable and entire facility perfect. ... could not have asked for anything else. I found last minute, and Phil and Liz both responded very quick to request !! We were able to talk a bit Sunday, and after we checked out... they suggested wine at Isaska S.P. , so we spent afternoon and Sunday evening taking in everything from the Mississippi River headwaters. .. to fire tower.. to wine at Main lodge. .. and another hummingbird encounter !!
Please excuse delay with review. ... and definitely would like to return. Thank you...
My husband and I were visiting family and came across this lovely spot, we had peace and quiet and we were close to everything we came for. Phil and Liz are very natural with having guest.. We are looking forward for our next time..
My husband and I enjoyed 4 nights in the suite. It was very clean and comfortable. The owners were welcoming and helpful in giving us tips on places to dine and golf. We enjoyed using the kayaks on the lake and relaxing in the hammock. During our stay we golfed several times, biked the Heartland Trail, and hiked and biked at Itasca State Park. We also took time to watch the beautiful sunsets across the lake and listen to the loons. It was a very nice getaway!
My husband and I could not have asked for a more perfect setting. We enjoyed a lovely week, relaxing on the private deck, listening to the loons and eagles. There were also opportunities to bike from Park Rapids to Dorset for a delicious chocolate malt, hiking at Itaska State Park, watching the beautiful sunsets and not to be missed, dinner at Necce's Ristorante. Thank you Phil and Liz for sharing your beautiful Wildwood!
View the start of the Mississippi at Itasca State Park, come to Park Rapids for 'Logging Days', 'Crazy Days', the September beautiful fall colors, biking the Heartland trail, golfing at our many excellent courses, enjoying wonderful restaurants; or just relaxing by the lake and watching the eagles and the loons. There are so many activities which change weekly in this busy lake town and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
