About Theresa Palmer

Owners Brian & Theresa Palmer designers from the UK. We moved to the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains 10 years ago. Knoll cottage is situated across the field from our home and studio. We enjoy walking the hundred acres of pasture and woodland, and our guests are welcome to do the same. We often bike the New River Trail and are happy to let the guests have the use of four bicycles as well as canoe and kayak. We are keen gardeners and raise our own organic vegetables. Weekends are spent mainly outside enjoying the peace and beauty of the surrounding area.

Fabulous, relaxing time for the whole family!

  • 5 of 5

This is our 2nd visit to Theresa's and Brian's cottage. Our stay of 1 week last year was just too short. So we had a 2 weeks stay this year which was perfect. Theresa & Brian are the best hosts and welcomed us with one of Theresa's yummy cakes! The cottage is charming, clean and comfortable. We all had a great time, especially our 2 boys (8 and 4 yo). Time just flew by with walks through the fields amoung the cows, picking blackberries, lazing on the hammock, playing with the dogs, Meg and Tini, and going down to the garden to pick green beans, tomatoes, squashes and potatoes for our meals and chasing the fireflies in the evenings. The neighbours are so nice and friendly. We were sad when it came time to leave and we are looking forward to our next visit.

Owner's Response: I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay. I was only sorry that we left for England so soon after you arrived. As you said in your review ,the neighbors are friendly. I knew that Farmer Gary and Victoria ,would see to it that all was well with your stay I do hope that you will be able to come back next year. Theresa

Away from it all country vacation

  • 5 of 5

Nestled in the hills and farming country, not far from Fancy Gap, a delightful little cottage atop a hill surrounded by fields, cows, deer and fresh air! Cottage is old world, fairly basic kitchen but very charming. Bed was comfortable and log, gas fire very welcoming on cold nights. Cell reception sketchy, limited internet and only videos to play on the TV... but that is part of the charm of the place. Therese and Brian are very charming hosts, Therese is very energetic and aims to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. If you want a “get away from it all “, relaxing peaceful break, this is the place. On walks in the area check out their Gipsy Caravan and Glamping tent. This has been our second stay, will be coming back again. Loved it.

Beautiful, quaint little farmhouse with fantastic views!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the Knoll Cottage from October 4-11 with our two little dogs. A few of our friends from our Civil War Living History Group also stayed for the weekend while we attended a nearby event. It was hard to leave. The cottage is spacious and charming and did not feel crowded with six of us and two small dogs. We spent much of the time enjoying the views on the front porch, as well as the tranquil setting under the tree in the backyard. There is nothing better than waking up with the sunrise and hearing the sounds of the cows, birds, and the creek coming through the windows. It was nice to "unplug" with no TV or radio. We had cell phone reception, but checked our emails and social media very minimally. It is about a 20-minute drive to a grocery store or some restaurants, but we actually cooked most nights and enjoyed dinner in the beautiful cottage dining room. Theresa and Brian were wonderful hosts and brought us fresh farm eggs and milk. Brian also surprised us with fresh pound cake that Theresa had baked for us! We will definitely be back next year! Many thanks to our wonderful hosts, Theresa and Brian Palmer!

Owner's Response: It is rewarding for us to know that this beautiful land is appreciated. We are only caretakers in this life and we want to share our surroundings as much as possible so that others can enjoy it as well.
