Monnaie Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

This beautiful apartment is literally situated in one of the best districts and streets in Paris.

Filled with light and with a feeling of calm & serenity, this apartment exudes history and charm. The building dates from the 16th Century, the famous French revolutionary Marat lived in this building and Picasso lived and worked in the building next door.

Right opposite the apartment are two of the best French restaurants in Paris and in one is the place where the young King Louis XIII was crowned one hour before the death of his father Henry IV (see photos).

We have just completely refurbished the apartment with great effort and taste and there is a brand new kitchen and a beautifully spacious bathroom with a very large and powerful shower. You will also find a once again brand new King size bed that is extremely comfortable with 100% Egyptian cotton linen with a high thread count. There is a flat screen TV, hi-fi, high speed wireless internet and DVD player as well as an ipod connection. The apartment is fitted with a secure access code for your security. Set back from the street it also looks onto a very quiet inner courtyard so it is completely silent yet just seconds from all the vibrant atmosphere of St Germain. Furthermore, it is a one minute walk from the Metro St Michel that links you directly to the airport CDG and the Gare du Nord so it extremely easy to get to.

Rue des Grands Augustins is a wonderfully quiet street with almost no traffic as it is so narrow. At one end you have the river Seine with spectacular views over the famous Eglise de Notre Dame. On the other end of the street the winding magical streets of the historic St. Germain unfold. The bars, restaurants, tea shops and boutique shops are all within a stones throw of the apartment. You are just 3/4 minutes walk from the famous Rue de Buci its famous flower market and endless delicious brasseries which spill over onto the street. The Boulevard de St Germain , famous for its extensive clothes shopping is again only a couple of minutes walk. There is an organic supermarket around the corner and furthermore all the essential amenities such as Pharmacies, food markets and supermarkets are all within very close proximity.

This really is a gem of an apartment and anyone who rents it, has always been be very happy here!

We will let you know our favourite places to go nearer the time!

About Mcveigh Dorrie

I am married to a Frechman Jerome and together him and I live more or less between London and Paris. I am British but originally from New York in the USA although I have lived almost my entire life in the UK. We have two young children, our daughter Noa who is 7 yrs old and a little boy Oskar who is 3 years old. We are both passionate about Paris and this is very much a family run business run entirely by Jerome and I.

Mcveigh Dorrie purchased this apartment in 2010

Why Mcveigh Dorrie chose 6th Arrondissement St Germain des Pres

We bought this apartment in St Germain because there is really no other area like it. Some people refer to this area as the 'Golden Triangle' of Paris as it is the most sought after area with all of its history and charm. St Germain has a wonderful combination of rambling magical streets with some of the best restaraunts in Paris whilst also having the Boulevard de St Germain with all its famous clothes shops and Brasseries. It is also directly linked to both the Gare du Nord and the major airports by train.

What makes this apartment unique

To stay in this apartment is to stay in a wondefully quiet and cosy apartment that is also very bright and airy. It is the best location in Paris with the River Seine at the end of your street and all the most famous bars and restaurants of Paris on your doorstep. Picasso used to live on this street as well as the famous French revolutionary Marat.

Amazing neighborhood, quaint living

  • 5 of 5

This flat was the right size for a single person or a couple. We came for a week for our honeymoon and it was everything we expected and more. Pierre, the flat manager, is very reachable and is available for tours, questions, advice, etc.

Situated in the St. Germain district, if local living is what you're looking for while you're in Paris, this is the flat for you.

Perfect Location!

  • 4 of 5

Dorrie's apartment is in the perfect location in Paris. It felt as though the entire city was at our fingertips in this location. Pierre, the property manager, was not able to meet us upon arrival but was quick to help us with a ride from the airport and giving us some great recommendations for places to eat. The apartment is a little tired. It was very well stocked, but I cannot say that the amenities were glamorous. The towels left for us had tears in them and there was no sheet on the bed, just a comforter. There were no instructions about if we should take the garbage out one night, which we found a bit of a hassle. After quite a few days, we would have liked to known what to do. For the price, the apartment served its purpose. It was a nice home base, but if you are looking for a place to relax, this may not be the best place for you.

Keep in mind the stairs were quite steep, but not a problem for us. There were no loud neighbors, but you could hear others entering and exiting the building.

Your time in Paris should be spent enjoying the beautiful city and that is exactly what we did! Thank you Dorrie and Pierre!

This is very small but for us adequate ,it was clean with wi Fi,comfortable The best qualities were that it was quiet and located minutes from everything interesting in the historic left bank. The metro ,louvre, major attractions, restaurants etc minutes away.It is in a charming historic building. The weakness for older people is that you need to climb flights of stairs to get to your room

What a treasure!

  • 4 of 5

I've stayed in eight or ten different places in Paris, and this was by far and away the location I have liked the most. Since it's not a hotel, the building is located on a quiet side street (a plus!), but a two-minute walk in either direction puts you where the action is. The apartment is charming. It has every convenience you could hope for and then some (a washing machine, a towel warmer, a free land line). Because of the decor--especially the ample lighting--even on the rainy days it was very bright and cheerful inside. I was absolutely comfortable and wanted for nothing. Pierre is a treat--friendly, funny, and very helpful. I'm still laughing at his running commentary on the channels as he showed me how to operate the TV. It was a hoot!

I feel obliged to take a star off for the steep, spiral, unevenly worn stairs. I would take only half a star if I could, because this will not affect everyone. At first I took them at a rapid pace, only to miss a step and land on my hands and knees. Nothing was damaged but my dignity, but I was a lot more respectful of them after that. As they were a minor inconvenience for me, I would rate my personal experience as five stars.

Dorrie and Pierre were responsive and helpful in our communications. Renting this apartment was the best thing I have every done for myself in Paris. I would love to stay there again!

Tranquil and well-located gem of an apartment!

  • 5 of 5

Dorrie's lovely flat was the perfect oasis from a jam packed work week. Located in quiet street in the heart of the Latin Quarter/St. Germain, it offers a respite from the hustle and bustle yet is within walking distance to many things and close to public transport. The flat is modern, clean and cozy with a remarkably comfortable bed. The only caveat is that it is up three flights of quite steep stairs -- they served as a bit of a work out however if you have mobility issues you will want to consider. Dorrie and her manager Pierre could not have been more charming and responsive, even accommodating a last minute extra night. I will absolutely stay there again the next time I am in Paris!

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent just over a week in this apartment and could not have been happier. Comfortable, quiet, and with just enough space, this property met all of our needs and its central location made getting to every restaurant, attraction, etc, on our wish list very easy. The building felt very secure and easy to find (a quick walk from the St Michel-Notre Dame RER B stop from CDG) and the manager Pierre was very responsive leading up to and during our stay. The space was spotless, too! We would certainly stay here again on future trips to Paris (though we can see how the steep stairs would be a problem for people with mobility trouble). Thanks for a memorable vacation!
