This house has been in our family for decades. Our children now have their own children (and even some grandchildren) and they have their own families and homes stretching from the Northwest to New England. We use the house when family and friends come to visit, and offer it as a vacation rental other times.
If you want a very nice home directly on the Bass River in one of the most beautiful areas of Cape Cod, this is the place. The combination of our house and our property with private beach and lovely, large yard provides the perfect location for your family and friends. You're also only minutes away from restaurants, clubs, golf, ocean and bay beaches and all that makes Cape Cod famous.
Classic Cape Cod Cottage with a beautiful location on the Bass River. Very quiet but minutes from the best seafood restaurants on the cape. I would enjoy staying here again next year.
My family and I spent a week at the house and wished we could of stayed longer. The house is located on the Bass river and has a great beach for kids. My kids spent most of the time at the beach and in the water. There's also a dock that we used to fish on the Bass River. We also spent a lot of time in the big yard that had a great view of the river.
The house had everything we needed. There is a large bedroom on the first floor and two more bedrooms on the second floor. There's also a second living room that can be used as another bedroom.
Overall my family loved the house and would recommend it to any family that is looking for a wonderful house to relax and have fun on the Cape.
My friends surprised me for my 50th birthday with a vacation on Cape Cod. One of them is a yoga and meditation teacher as well as a writer - so we had fun and relaxed with our homemade retreat. Since it was my birthday, I got the bedroom overlooking the Bass River. The house and yard were perfect for us. We ate in most nights as the location is nicer than most restaurants in the area and the kitchen is ready for use. We took walks in the quiet neighborhood, and even hung out on the sandy beach by the river a couple of days when it warmed up. I'm already planning my next trip to Cape Cod and will stay at this house with my adult children soon. I recommend this house to families or groups.
(Note: listen to the song "Ol Cape Cod" before reading....it's a perfect soundtrack for my vacation at this house)
I decided to take an end of year vacation on Cape Cod and stayed in this lovely home in Dennis. It sits on the edge of the Bass River, a beautiful inlet where we kayaked - and yes, went swimming even in October. We also sat and sunbathed on the small beach by the Bass River - and got a glimpse of many birds, a peek of foliage (even on the Cape) and lots of fish. The main Dennis beaches are only a couple of miles from the house - easy to get to in the summer. I came down with a friend and our teenage kids came with us for a few days, and then the kids returned home for school - so the 2 of us stayed for the rest of the week.
Our kids fished for a bit from the private dock (they actually caught a few!) and had a great time kayaking (we did as well.)
Once our kids left, we spent time doing what i like most about vacations: nothing but relaxing, i.e. I started and finished reading "Cloud Atlas" (a very long book), played Bocce (yes, even 40-somethings), took long walks on the beach, went to Cape Cod National Seashore for a day (about 45 minutes away) and hiked through the dunes to the Provincetown Dune Shacks....you get the picture.
The house has a main bedroom on the first floor - in its own "wing" overlooking the river...peaceful and calm. My friend slept on the 2nd floor in one of the 2 BRs upstairs - also with a view out to the river. Each floor has a bathroom so we had plenty of privacy - even when the kids were with us.
One of the things that i really appreciate about this property is that it is exactly what i imagined it would be. You feel like you're on vacation, on Cape Cod. You also feel like you may never leave if you could live in this house :)
The owners were easy to work with and nice. The one time we needed something (grill tank ran out of gas) - I emailed asking them where to fill the tank (which is what I've done at other vacation rentals in the past) - they immediately called to let me know that their handyman would drop it off within the hour. He arrived in about 30 minutes.
I will definitely return in 2013 - rounding up my gang for a 1 to hopefully 2 week vacation.
