Many groups come for long golf, shopping or fishing weekends. Wrightsville Beach is one of the premier yachting communities on the East Coast, and charter fishing is a huge draw. Some of our guests charter Captain Robbie Wolfe's 'Whipsaw'--a 42' Custom Carolina Sportfisher with twin diesels, three fighting chairs and enjoy Full, 3/4 or half day trips to area 'secret' hot fishing spots. Whatever your interest, the Richards Cottage is perfectly suited for groups of 11 or under. Please call us with any questions or if you need assistance in vacation ideas.

We have family ties to the area and love the natural beauty of the beach but convenience of a lovely historic city nearby.
The home is a classic cottage. We purposefully renovated it to have all the modern conveniences but have kept the charm of a family beach vacation retreat. We decided to keep as much of the outdoor porch space as possible to allow a truly organic beach vacation. There is nothing like enjoying the balmy beach breezes from the front porch hammock on a lazy afternoon.
We came to the beautiful Richards cottage for an anniversary reunion and couldn't have been happier with the accommodations. The cottage is cozy and very comfortable. It slept our entire group of 10 with ease.
The beach access is steps from the front door and easy to get to. The cottage is outfitted with comfy chairs for the beach and toys for almost all age groups. The beach is great for a leisurely stroll or a vigorous power walk. A walk along the beach even produced a viewing of dolphins. The beach is serene and great for fishing. The nearby pier has supplies to make the fishing experience fun and productive.
After a day at the beach, it was great to come home to relax with a bubble bath--with two bathrooms having beautifully large soaking tubs. The downstairs suite even has a fuze table for entertainment. There are plenty of children's movies and books for all genres available. The cottage had many decks to choose from when entertaining our party. The hammock was a special hit with young and old alike.
Staying at the Richards Cottage was a great experience. As you can see from the pictures, the house is nicely decorated which gives it a cozy and comfortable feel. The living space is conducive to a bigger group because there are two sitting areas...one with a TV and another with seating for 4 or 5 and a game table. Also, there are two dining tables (one off the kitchen and one on the screened porch ). The front porch was a favorite spot for our group. With palm trees all around, a wonderful hammock and comfortable rockers, the porch was a hard spot to leave! The kitchen is also the best we've encountered after 15 years of beach rentals. Top end appliances (i.e a great blender, a quiet dishwasher and a big frig with ice maker) and lots of great bowls and utensils made dinner prep so much easier than in years past. Also, there were many staples (i.e. sugar, spices, oil, ect) already at the house when we arrived. Of course we had to replace a few of the items during our stay but it was nice to start the week with a few of the essentials. Our group found the bedrooms on the 1st and 2nd floors comfortable. However, the basement bedroom was not a hit with our group.
If you have any fishermen in your group, we recommend Captain Jot. If you google Captain Jot in Wrightsville Beach you will easily find it. He's a really nice guy and definitely knows the hot spots for fishing. Our guys caught enough fish to feed our group for two nights!!
Also, the ladies in our group rented stand up paddle boards from the Aussie Island Surf Shop (1 North Lumina...on the corner across from Wings). The guys at the shop helped us across the street with our boards and gave us a quick lesson before we started paddling. The cost was only $15 for 1 1/2 hours....which we thought was a bargain!! Also, If anyone in your group wants to learn to skim board, the surf shop connected us with a skim board instructor ($15 for an hour and he came right to the beach in front of the house).
You will love this house, it's location, and all the fun things to do at Wrightsville Beach.
