Steven & Kathy searched for the perfect spot in the Lower Keys, came across a diamond in the rough. You guessed it ....TORCHVIEW, with foresight and some hard work managed to make this piece of heaven 'our Paradise'. We know its 'Paradise 'because we have been told so by ALL who stay here. We KNOW you'll feel that way too, COME CHECK IT OUT!
We live in West Michigan when were not in the Keys.
We are on the premises from Dec. to April.
Kathy Anderson purchased this house in 1993
We have bought a house on Cudjoe and built another there too ( both on canals), it was crowded, noisy and our pets had no where to run. We wanted seclusion, privacy, open water and space to breathe. The first time we saw TORCHVIEW WE knew IT was home.
The most incredible sunsets at TORCHVIEW will capture the tropical flavor of the Keys without leaving the country. Our views off the deck will give you peace and tranquility. Isn't that what we came for????
This was my first trip to Torchview, but guaranteed that it's not the last. I knew Big Torch would be quiet and peaceful, but I had no idea how great it could be. The views are even better than advertised, including some amazingly clear water around the dock where I must have seen a dozen different types of sea life. I watched every sunrise and every sunset from the 360 patio. The sounds of the trees and the water and the birds added an unforgettable soundtrack to the entire week. The unit had everything we needed, and was comfortable, clean, spacious, and quiet. Long story short - a great experience & value, and we'll be back!!
This was our 3rd trip to Torchview. Have already booked our 4th trip! I was looking for a place to celebrate my Daddy's 70th Birthday and stumbled across Torchview. It had everything I was looking for, I had no idea once we got there it would be so much more! The dock and artificial reef are the best, we never left except to go get more bait. The house is clean and gives you the most beautiful sunsets. The bedrooms and bathrooms are large and comfortable. The kitchen is perfectly set up. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is it! They have a very large yard perfect for pets. But mine prefer the water and dock. There is no road traffic which is another blessing. It is conveniently located to Big Pine Key where the Winn Dixie is. By the way Winn Dixie has recently renovated and rivals Publix in Key West. Torchview is also about 28 miles from Key West if you are in to that sort of thing! We took our boat this year and Steve provided us with tips. We took the boat out everyday and never left sight of the house and caught fish at every stop! This is the ONLY place that will fulfill your dream getaway!
For the 3rd time my husband, dogs and I took a wonderful relaxing vacation at Torchview. The artificial reef that has been cultivated under the dock is phenomenal! Relaxing on the dock and snorkeling under it are so relaxing and magical. And when the wind gets down enough so we can take a boat out to dive at Looe Key, we can keep the boat at the dock at Torchview. Those are the reasons we keep coming back. Add on top of it the well laid out home, great kitchen, fantastic sunsets over Niles Channel, and lovely grounds that are very isolated from traffic, and Torchview cannot be beat for a wonderful vacation in the keys where you are close enough to travel out to great eating and activities, but still tucked away in your own waterfront paradise in the Keys. It is Way Cool!
My husband and our 3 kids and I stayed at this wonderful house for the week and it was awesome! We absolutely loved the location and seclusion that this home provided. The dock was wonderful and the sunsets amazing. Had a fun time snorkeling and swimming with the sharks right off the pier!!! The house had everything that we could have asked for and had a very well stocked kitchen. This was very important to us since we do a lot of cooking. Spent a day at Looe Key and had just a wonderful time overall at this home. Kathy was very understanding and accommodating to a few issues that we had and called to check on us while we were there. Could not ask for a better vacation for a very water oriented family. We hope to get back down soon.
My husband and I decided we needed a trip to celebrate 30 yrs of marriage and we wanted the 3 kids to go also. We ended up looking at the Keys because we love the water and snorkeling and wanted to share that activity with our kids. I am so glad that I saw Torchview on the VBRO website! We had the time of our lives. Several hours were spent on the pier - the eldest loves fishing and couldn't get enough of it. When he wasn't fishing, he was in the water looking at the fish. We saw so many different types, but the spiny lobsters were a highlight along with the barracuda, horseshoe crabs, nurse shark, octopus [by the time I was screaming that there was an octopus - it was gone :( ] and we also saw a moray eel that comes out at dusk. We had breakfast at The Cracked Egg and dinner at The Square Grouper - both excellent!! The key lime pie at The Sugarloaf Bakery was out of this world - glad I discovered it later in the week cause I would have ended up eating 2 pies! One day we went snorkeling at Looe Key Reef (check out Looe Key Reef Resort and Dive Center). That was probably the highlight of the week - it was an amazing experience. Spent the day at Key West riding the Conch Train, but we should have gotten there earlier. There is so much to do in Key West and we were a little too relaxed getting out the door - we could have done with another week here! The last day we rented a boat from Big Pine Key Boat Rentals and went snorkeling off Newfound Harbor Keys. All in all, we had a fantastic time and hope we get to come back again in the future.
My husband and I, along with our 13 year old son, spent Easter week at Torchview and it was fantastic. We travel a lot and there are certain things we've found important about lodging that can make or break your stay. Torchview checked all the boxes and then some! It was clean, had a well-stocked kitchen for cooking, the beds were very comfortable and absolutely nothing was broken. The location is perfect of you want to get off the beaten path and have some true peace and quiet. The drive South to Key West and North to Marathon was easy for the few days that we wanted to do something different.
We snorkeled and fished right out front every day that we were there. Fresh snapper for dinner and endless entertainment! Our son was out the door before the sun some mornings and stayed out there almost all day. We rented a skiff from Big Pine Boat Rentals, which was very easy. Wouldn't necessarily recommend for people who aren't boaters as the waters are skinny and somewhat tidal.
Kathy & Steve were there (along with their niece - Hi Rachel!) and all were more than accommodating. While you may not think having owners on property is ideal, the hospitality was really nice. Thanks, guys :)
These photos truly do not do it justice. If you think the photos are good and the place looks appealing you'll be even more excited when you get there. The property is lush, the house is very spacious and the views are almost unbeatable. The little beach out front was a great landing spot to start the day and the dock was the favorite hangout. It isn't fancy but it doesn't matter - it's awesome.
We will definitely stay here again!!
