This is a sweet 1930's cottage that has been lovingly updated while leaving its charm, including the original heart pine floors. The location is ideal for a family vacation in Ocean Springs. The beach and harbor are within walking distance. There is a beautiful pathway on the beach passing the Ft. Maurepas Park and fishing pier. In season the shrimp boats sell their catch to the public, and charter boats are available. There is another Children's' Park 3 blocks from the cottage, and a soccer field and walking track only a block away. The cottage is equipped with everything you'll need for a pleasant stay of a weekend, week or longer. Check with us about extended stays.
Downtown Ocean Springs is a pleasant walk of 3 blocks and is full of restaurants, pubs, shops and art galleries. But, first and foremost, Ocean Springs is an old fashioned town with a great little grocery store (Broome's), banks, churches, and even a drugstore complete with a soda fountain. The Walter Anderson Museum and Shearwater Pottery are nationally known and acclaimed. This beautiful little town, with its tree shaded streets has been featured many times in travel magazines, and others such as Southern Living. Be sure to check the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce for its full schedule of festivals and other events.
In the event that you want more adult activities, the casinos in Biloxi are a short drive over the new Biloxi Bay bridge - also a popular walking route. Golf courses are available in Ocean Springs, as well as its neighboring cities.

Jack & Beth Riley have lived on the MS Gulf Coast for 35 years. They enjoy all that Ocean Springs has to offer and are happy to share their knowledge of the area with their guests.
Beth & Jack Riley purchased this cottage in 2005
We purchased this cottage as a rental in June of 2005. Then Hurricane Katrina hit in August and destroyed our house on the harbor. We were fortunate to have the 'Russell cottage' to move into and enjoyed it for over 4 years. We loved being able to walk downtown for work, play and business. We now live only 2 miles from the cottage but still maintain it as we would our own home.
Our cottage has the unique benefit of being in walking distance to the shopping and restaurants downtown, and to the beach and two parks. This is located in one of the oldest, established neighborhoods of Ocean Springs.
One of our best vacation experiences! From the moment we arrived, we loved the cottage and yard. With two adults, one child, and two dogs, the size of the house was a perfect fit for all of us. The neighborhood is tree-lined and offered wonderful walks with the dogs. The bedrooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are nicely decorated and stocked. We frequently grilled in the back yard, loved cooking each morning in the kitchen, and enjoyed family meals each day in the dining room. We love the character of the house with so many original features, and it is much bigger than we imagined from the pictures. What a great location for daily trips to the beach, visiting many shops/restaurants downtown, and the neighborhood is very quiet both day and night! From the first day, we wished we could stay longer. Beth and Jack were extremely helpful and so kind. We are already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you for starting a great vacation tradition in Ocean Springs!
I had a wonderful time with my mom and sister here. It was just perfect for us. Everything was well stocked and very clean. We weren't there an hour and said how we needed to come back and stay longer next time. Thank you for a very enjoyable trip.
We loved our stay at the Russell cottage. It worked very well for our family (2 parents, 2 kids, and my mother-in-law, plus our dachshund!). There was plenty of room to spread out and everyone was comfortable. We like to cook for ourselves and eat just a few special meals out, and the well-equipped kitchen and spacious dining room were very accommodating for that. As others have noted, the location is great--walking distance of downtown, the Walter Anderson museum, and the beach. Highly recommend.
loving the Gulf Coast so much, we decided to extend our stay. Our original rental was booked but the owner contacted Beth and lucky for us, Russell was available the remainder of our stay. The house is charming, comfortable and within walking distance of downtown. The garden and pergola were a delightful way to spend early evening after a day at the beach. Neighborhood is quiet and never felt anything but safe on my morning and evening walks.
Beth is a wonderful hostess and aims to please. Russell is a winner!
Visiting Ocean Springs for a weekend getaway with family and friends. The Russell Ave cottage was located in a great residential downtown neighborhood where everything we needed or wanted to do was within walking distance. We loved waking up Saturday morning and walking to Tato Nut for fresh hot donuts. The backyard is its own little paradise where we spent most of our time visiting and enjoying the beautiful gardens. Thank you, Beth and Jack! You have a wonderful vacation rental.
Russell House was precious. It was charming and immaculately clean. There were all the right touches that make a great vacation home, full kitchen, original artwork, collectibles and lots of books to read. The garden is particularly pleasant with a variety of blooming plants and a turtle for a host. Beth Riley, owner, was as friendly as the cottage and made us very welcome. For me, it was the perfect get-a-way just steps from Ocean Springs quaint and festive downtown. Great VRBO experience. Thanks. BR
