The cultural love child of genteel old Europe, the exotic Caribbean and the sultry South, New Orleans' original colonial neighborhood sets the scene for memorable romantic getaways. This is a city that revels in its passions, and for the visitor with an open heart the sensuality here can be infectious. It is also a city where people come to celebrate, whether by joining the massive public exuberance of Mardi Gras and other events or marking personal milestones in the lives of lovers, such as honeymoons and anniversaries. When a couple raises a glass in toast to each other, it can seem as though the entire town is following suit here.
Part of the appeal of New Orleans is its relaxed pace - a key ingredient to any romantic experience - and a leisurely carriage ride for two is a romantic way to get acquainted with the neighborhood at the beginning of a visit. Various types of mule-drawn carriages are available for hire at Jackson Square on Decatur Street. Carriage drivers generally narrate their tours of the Quarter with stories of various landmark properties, but just let him or her know at the start that you prefer to concentrate on your companion's company and you will have a serene cruise past the beautiful architecture and colorful street-scapes of the Vieux Carré. Snuggle under a blanket on the occasional chilly evening or bask in the tropical sunshine during another beautiful New Orleans day.
The French Quarter's many elegant restaurants make ideal venues for special meals with loved ones. But while the city is most famous for its Creole cuisine, it is the Italian restaurants of the French Quarter that offer some of the most romantic settings.

I am a professional who came to New Orleans post-Katrina to work on homes in Chalmette, (Saint Bernard Parish) that were damaged by water and the oil spill that occurred from Katrina. I fell in love with this city and the people here and decided to purchase a home and re-locate. I believe in the special magic of New Orleans and it's people and am dedicated to the rebuilding process.
Carol purchased this apartment in 2007
New Orleans is the most unique city in the United States with a European 'feel'. New Orleans architecture, history, music, art, and world renowned cuisine attract visitors from all over the world. I chose this property because of its proximity to the French Quarter and Frenchmen Street. Our home is located in the famous Bend of Bourbon where the 'Street Car Named Desire' once traveled. We are surrounded by mansions and homes on the National Historical Registry.
We are located in the historic Marigny in a quiet, residential neighborhood, a stones throw from the French Quarter and 2 blocks from Frenchmen Street, where traditional live jazz still reigns king.
Enjoy convenient, free on street parking directly in front of our home.
New Orleans is a walking city and our home is conveniently located to access famous restaurants, watering holes, live music, live theatre, shopping, museums and sightseeing without the use of a car.
My wife and I decided to spend the first few days of our honeymoon exploring New Orleans. All the hotels that we saw were either out of our price range or too far away, so we jumped at the opportunity stay at Carol's place when we saw it on Homeaway.com.
The location and accomodations were literally exactly what we were looking for. It's in a great, safe neighborhood, and the route from the house to the heart of Bourbon street was quick, easy and direct (which is especially helpful at the end of a long night in the French Quarter...). Frenchman's street is just as convenient and even closer if you are looking to experience the more "cultural" (i.e. arts and music scene) side of New Orleans. The room isn't exactly palatial, but it's comfortable, clean, quiet, very private, and in all ways, as much as you will need. With as much as New Orleans has to offer, you shouldn't be spending that much time in the room anyway.
Since there is so much to see, do, and (most importantly) eat in this city, having a knowledgeable resource like Carol was invaluable. She knew exactly what to recommend based on what we wanted to do. I felt like I had done my homework before we got there and that we knew all the places we wanted to go, but Carol directed us to a few other places that I hadn't found (and steered us away from the tourist traps), and that definitely enhanced the trip.
This was our first trip to New Orleans, and we decided on the first night that it would not be our last. We will definitely be staying at Carol's Oasis again.
A perfect location for seeing the best of New Orleans.
A lovely quiet spot, yet within walking distance of everything. Carol's pre information for dining and sightseeing is comprehensive and proved invaluable for us , as first visitors to this beautiful city.
Carol was a terrific host providing wonderful sightseeing and dining spots tourists would not know about. AND all this in writing prior to our arrival. Mardi Gras museum, Frenchman St. dining options and a better place for coffe and benegts than Cafe du Mond! What wonderful help from a gracious host. We sure enjoyed Lofty Oasis.
Great location, walking distance to French quarter. Friendly and informative owner. No cooking facilities on site, has fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Accomodation consists of one room and bathroom.Access to accomodation is behind owners home , not on ground level, need to climb stairs to access .
The wife and I went to NOLA to celebrate her 30th birthday. Carol's apartment was perfect--the location is throwing distance to the French Quarter, sandwiched between Frenchman St. and the French Quarter. Took 10 minutes to walk to all the bars on Bourbon St., and on the other side of the French Quarter is the St. Charles line for you to explore the Garden District. And on the walk back from Bourbon St. every night, there is a 24 convenience store and the perfect diner for late night eating. For breakfast, there is the perfect neighborhood breakfast place, Horns.
The apartment was not big, however it had everything we needed--queen sized bed, full bathroom, fridge, microwave, and its own walkway to the back. This place was perfect. I may be back for a work conference in November, and if this apartment is not rented, I will be bumping the hotel for Carol's place!
This was my 4th trip to NOLA and the first time I had gone all by myself. The location is perfect...... walking distance to Frenchmen Street, walking distance to the French Quarter, and thankfully, in a quiet area, away from all the hub bub of Bourbon Street. The apartment is small but it suited me fine; the bed is deliciously comfortable, the bathroom is great, the linens are top quality and Carol made sure I had everything I needed. The bathroom is well stocked, there is plenty of tourist info in the room, and the fridge and coffee maker were put to good use.
I loved Carol! We hit it off immediately and she even referred me to her awesome fortune teller, Philip, which was quite an experience! I wish I could have stayed........ <3
