Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time at this house. The house is very comfortable and it was easy to go to Sonoma or to San Francisco. We especially liked that the house is very well suited for families with kids, with boy’s and girl’s rooms. Another thing we liked was the supermarket very nearby and the shopping center 5 minutes away with Target, Costco and Sport’s Authority. Ron and Kelly are great and it was very easy to do all the arrangements.

Perfect for our gathering!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property for our family while we were in the area for our daughter's wedding. Kelley met us at the house and introduced us to the layout of the home. The house was spacious, clean, lovely, and convenient. The master was perfect for our oldest daughter and her husband and everything that goes along with traveling with four young children. Twin bed bedrooms were great for the two oldest. All our family had their own spaces and the three bathrooms were terrific to have! My mother-in-law was thrilled to have the first floor bedroom and bathroom so she did not have to climb stairs. The children loved the breakfast bar seating in the kitchen. The home had so much space we never needed to use the dinning room or formal living room. We loved having the laundry - and not just for the children's clothes! Shopping was very close by. We never used the pool but it was beautifully maintained and the patio area inviting.

Our daughter's wedding was in San Rafael so the drive down Rt. 101 was quick and easy. We had a little spare time during our stay and visited Vista Point and Muir Woods which were convenient to reach. We wish we had been able to stay longer. We would highly recommend this property. We had no problems at all. We enjoyed the welcome basket - using some of the treats for the children on our hike at Muir Woods! The property is in a quiet neighborhood and convenient for touring the area. The Ron and Kelley were available and willing to help with any questions we may have had. But seriously, we never had an issue! Our entire family was delighted to have this home for the weekend!

We highly recommend this property!

My son's wedding

  • 5 of 5

Ron,

The house was perfect. The kids really enjoyed the pool, and the adults spent most of the time in the family room. My son from Boston (Executive Chef) took command of the kitchen and loved being part of the ongoing chatter while at his command post. My eldest used the grills (smoked some rib eye and finished on coals) and selected the wines that complimented the meals. My youngest (the one who got married on Saturday) who heard we were having so much fun, decided to bring his new bride over on Sunday morning for breakfast! My daughters-in-law took over clean-up because their husbands enjoyed the prep and cooking.

My wife and I? We sat back and enjoyed all the children and grandchildren in your wonderful house! Thank you!

Perfect house for a reunion

  • 5 of 5

We had a crew of 12 staying in the Marin Oaks house for a 60th birthday celebration, enjoying a long three-day weekend. Our group has known each other since college and now, with partners, we try to get-together at least once a year. Ron was easy to work with, helpful and very quick to respond to questions as well as other needs to communicate. The house is in a quite neighborhood and near nice spots to walk and run. We all slept well in this quiet neighborhood.

The house itself had a great layout for us. Each couple had their room with very comfortable beds, we shared the three bathrooms easily with each other, including the master bath. The house was well equipped with plenty of towels, shampoo and soap. There were plenty of beach towels for the pool as well. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, prep-ware and serving dishes as well as dishes and glassware. Although we often bring our own spices and other perishable cooking needs, there was a nice back-up supply of those things in the pantry. It was a treat to find a chilled bottle of wine in the refrigerator. Thanks for that!

The backyard was a huge bonus! We spent a good deal of our days and nights enjoying the patio and the pool.

It was also really nice to have cable available with the olympics going on. We all agree we would return to this house for a stay in the future.

All-in-all a great stay!

Pool!

  • 4 of 5

The owners are more than responsive. They fixed issues in a timely and professional manner. The kids loved the pool. A little far from the city if you are looking for an urban setting.

Number of bedrooms and POOL were great!

  • 3 of 5

The nicely appointed home, with plenty of beds for our whole family, in a residential neighborhood, WITH POOL! provided a wonderful place for our family to get together once again - play games, talk, share old times, talk and did I mention swimming/lots of swimming?

All interaction with owner was friendly, helpful and responsive.

With that said, I am sad to say that I do not think the home is not being maintained (both inside and out) as well as it should be:

- Upon arriving we saw a yard that had not been cared for - overgrown, needing mowing, pruning and cleanup. It did get some care before we left.

- Cleaning inside the home was not up to standard to what we have been come accustom to.

- Some window coverings were torn or broken so that there was not privacy from the outside looking in.

- kitchen items were plentiful but very assorted and some were not clean.

- was able to get BBQ working only after making two trips, one to buy a new lighter and one to get more propane. *new smoker BBQ worked well but needed at least a couple of hours to use.

- Beds and bedding were good, with NO issues.

- neighborhood was fairly quiet even with house backing up to a large boulevard.

This is not the sort of property rental our family would desire to come visit again, although our family time with good.

THANK YOU! for providing your home to us for this once a year family event.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us and your kind but guiding comments. Both Kelly and I are extremely keen to provide our guest with best accommodation & best experiences as you can see from our other reviewer. Please see my response below with two **, - Upon arriving we saw a yard that had not been cared for - overgrown, needing mowing, pruning and cleanup. It did get some care before we left. **As you know during summer-time grass grows fast. despite our Gardner coming to mow the lawn once a week, sometime, the lawn looks overgrown. Both Kelly and I have mentioned this to our gardening crew and they have promised to be more vigilant. - Cleaning inside the home was not up to standard to what we have been come accustom to. ** Kelly and I will try to conduct random monitoring of the "house cleaning company" in the future. we are very sorry about this. - Some window coverings were torn or broken so that there was not privacy from the outside looking in. ** unfortunately the previous guest accidentally tore the cable pulling the curtain up and down, hence the broken shades. We decided to have it fixed during a time when we do not have guest. Our sincere apologies. I wish you had mentioned. - kitchen items were plentiful but very assorted and some were not clean. * we will look into this. sorry again - was able to get BBQ working only after making two trips, one to buy a new lighter and one to get more propane. *new smoker BBQ worked well but needed at least a couple of hours to use. ** As you know, we have 3 types of barbecue. A Traiger (smoker). a gas grill and a charcoal grill. I am glad you enjoyed using the Traiger smoker. although it does take a little longer. As for the propane grill, we did have a FULL propane tank which you and I found out that the valve at the top was turning but the screw was worned out. There would have been no way for us to know unless we start grilling. I suggested to drop off a tank but you wanted to pick one sooner. Again these type of things happen and it is very difficult for us to make sure we have 100% satisfaction on every item in the house. - Beds and bedding were good, with NO issues. ** Great! - neighborhood was fairly quiet even with house backing up to a large boulevard. ** Glad to hear! This is not the sort of property rental our family would desire to come visit again, although our family time with good. ** we are glad family had an enjoyable time.

Fantastic Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying in this house! We made breakfast and dinner with my friends and family. It's very close to some great local restaurants. The house was very clean and it had a wonderful swimming pool that we all enjoyed. We all felt at home there. The owners were very nice and considerate. The house is accommodating to individuals with physical disabilities. There are two bedrooms on the first floor and the stairs are easy to use.

Thank you to the owners for making a beautiful house for us to stay during our vacation!

House is located in residential neighborhood in Domingo Canyon, Novato, with rolling hills all around and lots of biking and walking trails (see the map). Also within close proximity to grocery shopping (Safeway and Paradise super market) and restaurant, Boca Steakhouse and Boca Pizzaria (both are highly recommended). House is within walking distance to Hoog Park, which has playground structure for children. Neighborhood is quiet and very safe, with a family-friendly atmosphere. Enjoy direct access onto Domingo Canyon Open Space Ridge that provides great views of the surrounding hills, Bel Marin Keys, Petaluma River and the bay. Enjoy surrounding nature while still being centrally located in beautiful Marin County. Marin is a large, forested region adjacent to the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco to the South, and Napa and Sonoma Counties (aka “Wine Country”) to the East; arrive at these top tourist destinations by car in just a 30-40 minute drive.

Other Activities: some of my most favorite things to do are:

wine tasting in Sonoma or Napa. Taking a Limo to wine tasting regions are safe options (no driving). There is good shopping in Corte Madera. Kayaking, Boating in Sausalito harbor. Going to Larkspur Ferry Station (8 miles from the house) and taking the ferry to San Francisco and going shopping, sightseeing or simply walking around downtown. Also there are ample Wildlife Viewing, Rock Climbing, Health/Beauty Spa, Hot Air Ballooning in Napa, ice skating (Santa Rosa)and more

Golf: There are several golf courses in the area. The closest to the house is:

Marin Country Club (Private. They may allow non-members) You should call them well in advance. 0.5 miles from the house.

Indian Valley Golf Club (they allow non-members). reasonable price!

8 miles from the house.

Stone Tree Country Club (they non members)

5 miles from the house.

Please contact them well in advance of your arrival to make sure you can get on your desired course.

Ski: The closest ski resort is Sugar Bowl Ski Resort (near lake Tahoe) which is ~ 170 miles from the house. It can be done in one day, provided you leave early in the morning (5 AM) and hit the slopes at 9-10 AM and return at 5 and arrive back home around 9 PM.
