About Steve Belden
As a retired contractor I fell in love with and bought the property several years ago. So close to all the attractions, but very far away from the traffic and congestion. This is a natural bay which affords clam digging, mussel picking as well as a much needed rest stop for several migrating bird species. The Carriage house style was built to afford and lofty view. The simple design was chosen to be easy to live with. Simple, but functional . The property rental allows us to fund our retirement activities as well as let others enjoy Maine the way it really is.
Steve Belden purchased this House in 2007
Why Steve Belden chose Lamoine
Private location that is near Maine's best activities and parks. A true natural setting with abundant wildlife. A great place for well behaved pets and children. Our 1/2 miles driveway is quiet and away from roads, traffic and the mass crowds. The surrounding towns here have lots of restaurants, lobster pounds and activities. If you seek a very crowded town packed with traffic gridlock and people you should choose Bar Harbor. Our guests have many times been to the area before and realize they can have the best of both worlds here.
What makes this House unique
Most are nature lovers seeking peace and quiet in harmony with nature. Close to lots of activities. Close to a small municipal airport for those who fly to the area. Within 5 miles of the hub terminal for the Island Explorer bus system that will take you anywhere in the park or local area ( free )!

This was a return trip for us to Steve's property. It has everything you could wish for: All the conveniences in addition to gorgeous views and peaceful surroundings. Bar Harbor is a short drive away, as well as the Schoodic peninsula. Shopping is close by in Ellsworth.
The home itself is comfortable and roomy, complete with a fully equipped open concept kitchen and attached family room. The large TV was the perfect solution for a rainy afternoon! We hope to return to this property for many more vacations in Maine!
We took our mom (88 years old!) for her first vacation to Maine. This was the perfect house for us. Each bedroom had its own bathroom, the open concept living/kitchen area was lovely. Beautiful views, private location, surrounded by all that nature has to offer. We hope to visit again!
The house was great! Very secluded, nice location! Close to Mt Desert Island and Acadia! Had a wondeful stay!
The house was amazing and worked well for our trip. Traveling around the area was easy from the location and once there you were removed from all the people visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia. I saw the comments about the airport across the sound but it only has a few flights and is a very minor annoyance. We did not mind not having a dishwasher as my kids and I had lots of laughs as each took turns washing dishes each night after dinner! My only suggestion would be a little more lighting in the family room, we built a puzzle and tried to read and the lighting is dim. And maybe a set of twin beds in one of the bedrooms as my teenage kids had a lot of togetherness on the double beds!!! The area is absolutely beautiful and Steve was a great host. Thank you so much.
Very nice place
Goto Acadia Nat Park. Also get a lobster pot at Union River Restuarant
Private, quiet and clean!
Our family of 4 including our 12 year old son and 15 year old daughter loved our stay at this house. The layout of the house between bedrooms is nice, our daughter took the downstairs bedroom and enjoyed having her own bathroom and space. Don't let the lack of a/c scare you away. Once we opened up all the windows on the 2nd floor, it was very comfortable, even in low 80 degree temperatures. Our son liked trudging down to the water in the afternoons. While he wore his Keens, rain boots would have been easier to wash all the mud out when the tide was low. We had an issue with the stove and the owner, Steve was super quick to respond and was able to replace the oven during our stay. Also in terms of location and driving distance, anywhere you stay near Acadia will still require somewhat of a drive if you don't want to be in the hustle of Bar Harbor area. There is a Walmart 10 minutes away as well as an IGA on your way in/out of Acadia and a local grocery store in Bar Harbor. Acadia is FABULOUS! We hiked, biked and kayaked. Don't miss driving to Schoodic Point-it is much more impressive than Thunder Hole! After waiting 15 minutes at Thunder Hole we later found out that it only really booms after a storm. Schoodic Point is worth the drive and being in Lamoine makes it even closer than those staying near Bar Harbor.
The cottage is located conveniently mid way between both segments of Acadia National Park. The Mount Desert Island and The Schoodic Penninsula sections of Acadia offer there own types of recreation and activities. The town of Lamoine offers an oceanfront State park as well as several large uncrowded sand beaches not well known by the masses swarming The Acadia and Bar Harbor areas
