About Steve Belden

As a retired contractor I fell in love with and bought the property several years ago. So close to all the attractions, but very far away from the traffic and congestion. This is a natural bay which affords clam digging, mussel picking as well as a much needed rest stop for several migrating bird species.

The Carriage house style was built to afford and lofty view. The simple design was chosen to be easy to live with. Simple, but functional . The property rental allows us to fund our retirement activities as well as let others enjoy Maine the way it really is.

Steve Belden purchased this house in 2007

Why Steve Belden chose Downeast and Acadia

Private location that is near Maine's best activities and parks. A true natural setting with abundant wildlife. A great place for well behaved pets and children. Our 1/2 miles driveway is quiet and away from roads, traffic and the mass crowds. The surrounding towns here have lots of restaurants, lobster pounds and activities.

If you seek a very crowded town packed with traffic gridlock and people you should choose Bar Harbor. Our guests have many times been to the area before and realize they can have the best of both worlds here.

What makes this house unique

Most are nature lovers seeking peace and quiet in harmony with nature. Close to lots of activities. Close to a small municipal airport for those who fly to the area. Within 5 miles of the hub terminal for the Island Explorer bus system that will take you anywhere in the park or local area ( free )!

Immaculate home, beautiful views and peaceful relaxation.

  • 4 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our first time in Maine, and the property was off the beaten path and very private. We saw deer practically every day. It was an easy jumping off point to see all the sights in Acadia. We were tired out one night, and instead of cooking or going out we ordered pizza from the general store in Lemoine, which was excellent. Would have given it five stars except the upstairs beds should probably be updated (firmer).

This is a great house for a vacation in the Acadia Area! Lots of windows, very bright and it feels very new. Kitchen is modern and it is nice to cook in. Good views of the water and a nice deck to enjoy those views. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

Great House, Great Vacation...

  • 5 of 5

This house was great for our family -including the dog -during our visit to the Bar Harbor/Acadia area. We appreciated the "new" feel throughout the home ( which is a very HUGE plus, no musty rooms, just the smell of new wood). The woodwork throughout the home is exceptional. The house has everything you need with a bathroom to go w each bedroom. Lamoine beach is also right down the street and our dog loved the walks along the water and beach there. The drive to Bar Harbor was about 30 mins and apprx 20 mins to Acadia entrance though it doesnt feel even that far at all. There are some nice restaurants and a small winery etc along the drive as well. It was also nice to escape the bar harbor crowds and get back to a truly peaceful retreat. Coffee on the deck each am was very relaxing and we got to see some wildlife as well. We hope to be back soon. Also , Steve was great to answer any questions about the house and area.

Great location and comfort

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in Lamoine. House was very comfortable with great views from back deck overlooking the bay. Location was perfect removed from the hustle and bustle of Acadia and Bar Harbor yet close enough for quick visits. Plenty of wildlife in area and saw deer every day near house. Owner was very easy to work with and made our stay very enjoyable. Looking forward to our next stay. Thanks Steve!

Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

We had a great visit to Acadia and this home was a nice quiet respite from the busy Bar Harbor tourist zone and an easy drive to all the attractions. Steve's finished carpentry skills shined in the well designed home which nicely accommodated our family of six. Our grandchildren and actually all of us enjoyed the many deer sightings on the property as well as fox, rabbits and osprey. Our only wish would have been a dishwasher but otherwise everything provided was top notch and appreciated.
