Eva Vanneste purchased this house in 2004
I bought this property in 2002 as my home. I recently moved back to the UK but didn’t want to sell the house as I visit regularly and like everyone here still love Antigua so started to rent it out as a vacation property.
The property is really close to the centre of Antigua and in walking distance to all the main sights, restaurants and night life. The house is elegantly decorated yet still extremely cozy and comfortable. The area is quiet, secure and relaxing. The house is very well equipped with all modern conveniences and you will feel at home right away. There is a housekeeper provided to do cleaning and laundry and access to English speaking assistance and travel planning services.
There are a million things we wanted to say to you, and only wish we could sit with you in the Rainbow Cafe or on the roof at Cafe Sky and share some beers and talk. The house was wonderful *(and beautiful) and your hospitality and that of Leonore were so greatly appreciated. We found ourself growing fonder of Guatamala with each passing day, and we walked probably every street and ally in town (measured 12 to 15 miles per day just walking in town!) getting to know all of Antigua. Just what we wanted on this trip!
Your commitment to wise use and conservation of resources (recycling, minimizing waste, saving electricity and water with careful use, etc.) impressed us and we are grateful to you for sharing that philosopy with the people of Antigua (and visitors).
Carlos is a treasure for your company that you need to protect! Our friends never were able to join us, so it was just us going and coming in the van, and we spoke energetically in both Spanish and English with Carlos, as he shared travel information, political information, philosophical information, talked about the NGOs in Guatamala, and on and on. He holds you in highest regard, couldn't say enough good stuff about you, and loves working for your company. He is humble and warm, and was a perfect introduction to the Guatamalan people for us.
Thanks for all you did to make our stay enjoyable, I know it's a business venture for you, but you've managed to infuse a sense of hospitality that truly was appreciated.
My family and I enjoyed our stay at this house. The house is close to central Antigua, while being just far enough to provide a refuge from the hustle and bustle. The house had plenty of space for myself, my wife, and our three children (14, 12, 10). The kitchen was modern, and there is a good amount of common space with the dining room and family room. I enjoyed the patio and the gardens around the patio.
We enjoyed our stay here. I was frustrated when I had inquired if there would be anyone able to help translate when we arrived the inquiry was not answered. The gardens are pretty and the view is fantastic of the volcano. There are some things that could use some attention in the house ie peeling paint etc. It served our purpose but it was stated that it was a 3 bedroom villa when in fact the third bedroom was a twin bed in the closet area with a curtain between to separate it. I am sure that it probably qualifies as a bedroom in Guatemala but not by US standards. Leonore was awesome despite the language barrier. If you speak Spanish you would probably really enjoy staying here. I looked again and it is stated to be a 2 bedroom but from information from the manager it led me to believe it was a 3 bedroom.
We couldn't have been happier. The house was lovely. The view was amazing! Lenore the housekeeper was wonderful! My two year old said that his favorite part of the trip was the house! I definitely recommend this home to anyone traveling to Antigua.
The house was perfect for the 4 of us for a few days in Antigua. We really liked the outdoor spaces, bbq and the house itself is nicely furnished and well kept. The bathrooms could do with some ventilation as there isn't any and windows that you can open in the bedrooms rather than just a door but apart from that the house was great and I would highly recommend it. The neighbour was quite grumpy and not very friendly at all - maybe because we had parked slightly too far back (we moved the car straight away when she told us off!). Luckily we didnt see her again, apart from spotting her peaking down from behind her curtains at us when we were playing with our dog in the common grass area! She soon hid when she saw me looking up - made the encounter all the more amusing!
The house was comfortable, private and quiet - okay, minus the fireworks and a few volcano rumbles. New Year's was spectacular in Antigua. The house is a little further from town than expected but a pleasant walk and you have Tuk Tuk's available when you've had enough walking. Leonor, the housekeeper, was wonderful. She prepared two delicious traditional Guatemalan dinners for us (foo cost and a little extra); highly recommend.
The house accommodated 4 of us very comfortably. The outdoor sitting area was certainly one of our favorites. When I return to Guatemala I hope this house is available. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
This review is late (we stayed here in May of 2014), but our memories of our stay in this casa, and our time in Antigua, are still vivid. This accommodation was a great find. It is in a quiet neighbourhood that is within easy waking distance of downtown. Because Antigua is not a big city, we walked everywhere and enjoyed exploring all of the side streets and sights of this World Heritage city. We felt safe wherever we went. My wife and friend even took advantage of one of the many Spanish schools to increase their knowledge of the language. The casa itself was comfortable and well equipped. The regular cleaning and gardening service made us feel special. Having breakfast out on the patio each morning was a treat. I would highly recommend this home away from home. Thanks for making our holiday one of the best ever.
We can offer a full travel service for clients to book cultural and active tours in the area from textile specialists to indigenous markets to helicopter sightseeing over the volcanoes.
